[TRIVIA] Version Numbers

In the HMTL-sourcecodes from our mysterious websites there are sometimes references to the MetaPage software (yes, i am a little obsessed with that thingy):
on metacotechs.com, aquapolis.com and underhosting.com there is a reference to the MetaPage V 1.0.4 for MAC. Considering the .graffle clue that was maybe a hint to look for mac file types on theauapolis.
But: why is the version used on little-boxex the MetaPage 1.0.2 ?
Why are there no references to MetaPage on paintover.net, cascadevortex, paranormaljournal ?
And what version was used on sheismissing.info / heismissing.info ? MetaPage 1.0.3 for Windows !!!

This is some information that I ran across doing a google search for MetaPage 1.0.3 for Windows. It appears to be totally unrelated, however anything can lead to a new clue or thought so here it is:

Code:

[033] - JFS for Linux 1.0.3
  by Steve Best (http://freshmeat.net/users/stevebest/)
  Tuesday, August 21st 2001 10:37

About: JFS for Linux is IBM's journaling filesystem, ported to Linux.

Changes: Compiler warnings in the utilities on 64-bit systems were fixed.
Some problems removing files have been fixed. Certain assertions in
jfs_txnmgr.c were fixed. A hang was fixed. The exhaustion of tblocks is now
prevented. A timing problem between the Block map and the metapage cache
was fixed. The code was cleaned up. The source tree was split into three
branches: 2.2, 2.4, and jfsutils.

Yeah, and why don't they have a Mac screensaver yet, if they are working Mac machines?

1.0.1

I wonder where one could find a reference to a MetaPage V. 1.0.1.
By the way, isn`t 101 there where the matrix core is ?
Overall there must be a deeper meaning to this, since a MetaPage Editor does not exist in reality - for what reasons did they put the differnet versions in the sourcecodes ? This drives me really mad ...

My theory about multiple versions...

Let's assume MetaPage is a MetaCortex product, which seems obvious. Of course, if MetaCortex is updating their pages, and possibly aquacortex, then they are using machines in the MetaCortex office. These would be running the most up to date software.

Little-Boxes could be updated from Beth's machine at home, and if she just happend to slip out of MetaCortex with a copy of MetaPage in her purse Wink But she might not be using the most up to date version.

The other sites are updated by people without access to MetaCortex, so they are probably using notepad, vi, or something.

Just a theory.... *shrug*
