Haha, the Cloverfield ARG died, but the Aladygma craze goes on!

The internets are amazing. First, some kids start a weird form of ARG 'trolling', posting meaningless and irrelevant "clues" leading absolutely nowhere, hoping to stir a response for the lulz (or maybe it was a college project, who knows).

When that response proves to be WAY larger than they expected, they realise the potential. They try to patch up the irrelevant clues to create a (so far non-existent) backround story in retrospec, and they start little phishing tricks like recruiting "soldiers" and "give us 16 different sites to post clues (and our name) all over the world".

It might just work. You know, perhaps we'll be seeing more sites about aladygma in a year from now than Cloverfield. After all, MGP was just a movie and an ARG; Aladygma has the potential to become an internet phenomenon: The obsession of people on the web about absolutely nothing.

Hey, maybe Aladygma is just an intricate way of playing the Game! amygdala has to do with memory and remembering, after all.

Interesting... After the last "orders" given by the aladygma makers, it seems like the whole thing is slowly turning into a pyramid scheme. First they get the fan base to post as many sites and blogs and videos about aladygma as possible, and now they say some vague stuff about how all members will get "money" and how the "best" members will get even more money.

Sound familiar?

I tried to point that out over at aladygmaclues.com, but surprisingly none of my comments made it through. Hmm.
