Pixie, can you modify the thread again with the date/time?

okay look,i know i did the "Edit the topic" once... but that's not really how this whole thing should happen. I know i don't always come off "nice" when i explain things, so i'll start with quoting a nice person, i'll let an arger friend explain it:
Quote:
that kind of info is for the thread anyway
the title should just have the skeletal nature of the thread suggested
gently nudge them onto the True Path of Righteousness

so there you go. Thread is made with topic that gives basic info "new location found". THEN someplace *IN* the thread, which if you are playing you should read {if you don't read it, don't bother playing}, you give the details surrounding not only the find of said location, but what said location is for {live drop w/ date & time, etc}

Which also means, we don't need a new thread about GOING to said new location - that should just be included in this one.

Thank you for listening to "how to make a thread 101" now back to your regularly scheduled ARGing.

I understand your point; I was attempting to maximize the chance of dragging in someone who is *not* part of this current thread, since as things currently stand, we're looking at another no-go.

However, you are correct - redundantly editing the hell out of the subject header isn't going to accomplish that

Is it considered bad form to go to the News and Rumors or Social Interactios and beg for help?

I know I don't know anyone personally who lives in meatspace; the only other thing I can think of is posting to Craiglist... and I shudder to contemplate the quality of the responses I'm likely to get.

I'm not really playing this at this point, more lurking it, but two things to try here. 1. Use the search with Florida as your key word. 2. It's been done before to post one in N&R to try to locate someone in an area... If you do the second, you might try a "PLEASE don't respond to this post, but go here" message so it can be deleted at a later date. idk.

yes, yes it is.

We CAN though ask in the chatroom {i have been, so far no luck}, or maybe social interactions or possibly even some meta forum or V&S or SOMETHING, but i thik N&R is going to be out of the picture.....

I'm in Orlando. I may be able to head out to there, not sure yet - I'll look into it.

EDIT:

Just did a Mapquest. It's only an hour away. I can easily manage this.

Got it. Got my ride and everything set up, I can easily make it out to that mall at that time.

By the way, what is the chat room and how do I get in it? I'd love to discuss the finer details.

Edit: Found the IRC chat, in it now as Attorney. Or you can get to me posting here, or AIM. I'm semi-new to this whole arg thing and this will certainly be my first drop, so any help I can get online will be nice. I'll be bringing my laptop with me to the Books a Million, so I'll be set up there if I find/don't find anything.

Thanks for picking up the gauntlet AttorneyAtLawl (great handle btw). And welcome aboard. Consider yourself lucky for getting into a dead drop so early in your ARG career... Very Happy

Heh, thanks. So, what is it exactly I'll be looking for? I read earlier in the thread about the Fountain of Youth, would it be a book about that? Or have we not exactly deciphered/discovered that part yet?

I'm hoping for another Q&A session with the Watcher before Saturday. We won't let you down, though. All the people involved here are quick to digest any new information and we'll definitely steer you to the right place. You may want to take part in the next round of questioning yourself. Thanks again.

Much appreciated AttorneyAtLawl!

Fountain of Youth is indeed the only clue we have... if we don't hear more from The Watcher, the brain trust here will be itching to walk you through.

The clue could mean several things. It may just have been a hint that pointed toward Florida. It might lead to a book on the subject, or on Ponce de Leon. Might be something more obvious... there could be a fountain near the store, or you might find something in the 'youth' section. There could just be a suspicious person hanging around.

All just spec until someone's on the scene. But at least a few places to start.

High possibility there will be a CD at the end of the trail. With a video (like we found at the start of the trail in Boston; and was put on the website after we missed the Pasadena deaddrop).

One other thing to keep in mind, from our last Q & A session:

Quote:
Q: Does it hold historical significance?
A: Yes, but in a more literal context than you would think.

This would indicate to me we are looking for a history book on the Fountain or something related to it.

We don't know if it'll be a simple dead drop or something more convoluted. There is a wiki up to give some background and a cast of characters to date.
