I think we should start narrowing the scope since only a little more than 24 hours remain and we have no new information.

Q: Does it hold historical significance?
A: Yes, but in a more literal context than you would think.

This would indicate to me we are looking for a history book on the Fountain or something related to it.

I think the subject of historical significance here is the bookstore and not the object itself. It does "hold" books of historical significance to be quite literal.

Also, did anyone happen to check the syringe image for stegs? What about the surveillance pictures? Fountain of Youth could be a password. Is there any significance with the blue lines currently across the site? It seems so out of place. With constant updates to 13lights.org, I think we need to make it a habit of extracting/saving all content when it appears and possibly running the gambit of all the typical hiding places for kl00s.

I agree, but I'm uncertain how to do so. I was going to wait until after 3:00 and see if there were any updates to any of our key sites.

I've downloaded the surveillance pics. I just downloaded and installed Camouflage. If the pics were encrypted with that program, the password isn't obvious to me.

The prob is, I have to uninstall the program right now as well. My network security people won't be impressed with my explanations if they detect a third party encryption tool on my laptop.

Yeah, I'm at work too but I can check when I get home. I did not see the syringe image on the wiki so i assume that nobody saved it when we had a chance. I would hope that it does not contain any pertinent information since it was up for such a short time.

Are there any other programs like Camoflage and if so will we be able to desteg any pics with Camoflage?

There are several, but I know jack diddly about them:

http://www.unfiction.com/dev/tutorial/steg.html

I assume that if the syringe pic was relevant they would have left it up.

If we don't gather more info, we should probably assume we're looking for a book on the Fountain of Youth or Ponce de Leon.. The PMs know what data we have; if they're not telling us more, they're assuming we have enough data to proceed. It'd be fruitless to guess a specific book, because whoever does the drop can't count on a copy being in stock.

On the flip side, if you see a book with a black cover and two blue lines (similar to the current state of 13light.org), that may be something to check out.

AttorneyAtLawl, if you do find something in a book, please record the name and edition, on the off chance they'll use it later as a Book Cipher.

Edit: another consideration: find out where the restrooms are. If they're near the children's section, see if there is an envelope stuffed behind it

I'm merely trying to narrow the scope here so please don't take this negatively, but I don't get the feeling that we are looking for a book. Consider this:

1) There are probably a dozen genres and hundreds of titles that could encompass the fountain of youth theme (anything from history, new age, fiction, bibliography, children's). That could take hours to dig through. We were given a specific time.

2) Most books could be obtained anywhere. There are much more subtle ways for the watcher to point out a specific volume than sending us to a remote bookstore inside a remote mall on a remote island.

3) There would really be no way of knowing if we have found the correct book unless it was glaringly obvious like it had the blue lines on the cover as stratagos suggested or it was called 13 lights or something. It would not be likely that someone would put a note inside a book since it could be picked up by someone OOG or something.

So unless there is some book signing or some promotional thing going on for a book that looks related, I would probably focus on something else, AttorneyAtLawl. Keep an ear open for a loud speaker announcement or a suspicious looking package or an out-of-place individual. We will be your life-line so if you start to feel you are not getting anywhere with any particular lead, make sure to let us know. Keep the lines of communication open and we will be successful.

Let me clarify - I don't think we're looking for a book, I think we're looking for something *in* a book. But I don't think we want to open a million books, so we want to narrow that down a bit Wink

I don't think they'll make this ridiculously difficult... they want us to find whatever it is we're supposed to find. If it's somehow related to a book on the Fountain of Youth, for instance, I wouldn't expect to have to rummage through hundreds of copies of different books throughout the store. You'd more likely see something glaring on a shelf, like a cryptic sign or an envelope.

Q: Will we encounter someone there, or should we be searching for an item?
A: You should have an encounter. Look for Twelve. I heard he likes coffee.

Looks like I'll be looking for a person, then, near the coffee bar.

Q: I'm going to be the person going to the drop location in Florida tomorrow. Who or what should I look for? Is there a specific person I should ask, or a certain thing I should say as a "password" to get this person to talk?
A: Look for a man in a black baseball cap.

Q: Can you tell me what is going to be dropped, or who I will meet?
A: You will meet "Twelve"

Well... sounds easy enough.

Since the guy at the cocktail party looked like a stumbling drunk, look for the guy at the coffee bar who's sweaty, racy, and twitching. Wink

I figured I'd just ask the first person I see with a black hat on if they're "Twelve". Should narrow things down pretty quick.

Yesss... yesss, meet them, and just when they least suspect it, the team will swoop in for the capture, to take them to the Quiet Room, where we will sweat them for everything they know! Mwhwhahahaha!

*gasps for breath*

Ok.. .ok, I'm better now

In the car, headed to the mall now. Will be there well before 3PM. Got my laptop with me, so hoping the mall/store has WiFi, I'll be online and in the unfiction IRC chat and forums as I meet Twelve.

Wonderful, we'll be here to help if needed. And of course to badger you for every bit of detail we can get Wink

There is wi-fi there, from what I've read. Good luck!

Hey is there a channel for 13lights on chat-solutions? Is this where everyone will be going? Sorry, but I'm pretty much a n00b with UF chats.

At Books-A-Million. There IS a coffee shop inside the store and I'm sitting at it. No free WiFi so I can't use my laptop, but I've still got my phone with internet access. If there is anything you want me to ask Twelve, post it here. Still an hour till 3.
