I found it interesting that each coordinate had a letter next to it. So I used the key to decipher the the letters so far looks like gibberish. but here it is in (I deciphered top to bottomw left to right, so the first row I write is actually the first coloumn of coordinates). Now that that is as clear as mud here you go.

I understand the first letter in parenthesis and then the coordinates, but what is that last number for?

The first number is your Y axis. The second letter/number is the X axis. The third entry is which of the four squares at the target it refers to.

Ok which square is one and then in which direction do we count. If we do quadrents like in trig, the first quadrant/square is the top right, then you proceed, left, down, right.
Is this what people are doing??

Army map reading rules, I think:
read RIGHT, then UP.
The last letter is the quarter in the overall square.... see in the upper left hand corner with the numbers 1,2,3,4? that's the last number, the third coordinate, I think.
Just a guess from waaay back into my ROTC days in high school (who knew that would pan out?)
here's the map... sorry so big

In the very upper left of the map there is a key, showing 1 at top left, 2 at top right, 3 at lower left, 4 at lower right.

Fairly straightforwards, it just takes a while. I finished step two but step three is just way to difficult with the map being in four pieces. I'm a little pissed. Definitely not a good at work puzzle like last week.

Hah, so your measuring the distance to HQ in pixels then? Good luck, that might well be faster than doing it by hand.
