Here's the picture of my solution to the map, got it a little while back and have been exploring documents. Judging by the timing I may have been one of the first to get the control # in - crossing my fingers!

wow now that was a puzzle and a rush...
DCN is located on LDP227489WK
I started out with a black & white print of the four PDF pages on one page, but I didn't line up the overlapping sections... so I managed to located the extended coordinates - labeled A through Z...
After that, connecting the letters with the key in the lower right would just be a pain...
so I Corel'd the pages, lined them up (a bit of resizing - trixit PMs) then marked off the 4x4 lettered squares...
drawing the lbue lines between them, then black circling the geographic features that had 2 or more lines intersecting (with a bit of leeway) - I had 10 numbers.
Then thunderclap8 in IRC got to that point - we had both apparently missed one or two. I missed marking one, and had two I wasn't certain of - thunderclap had two marked I missed, but had missed one I got.
Combining our numbers, we got the file:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
4-11-12-13-18-21-24-26-27-29-32-33-34
that of course led to a slew of files...

LDP758012EL
LDP759540YC
LDP725027DK
LDP578932HS
LDP203933JD
the *'d file has the DCN.
(see attachments for the map)
Hoping thunderclap got his code in in time, because I skipped right over it while continuing to check the additional files
So, thanks thunderclap! Twice! you rock

Man, these gun towers are ridiculous. 50 meters apart and 1400 ft tall? One 90mm gun and 4 44mm guns per tower?
I can't wait to get to this part of the game in Resistance 2

Seriously, my heart is still racing...
I went straight to printouts, lined everything up, and then just ran through it asap. Once I had the solution, I plowed through document after document just searching for a control number. I had a hunch...
I can't get into IRC from here, where I figured ya'll would be outpacing me. Roundabout what time did you submit the tip, thunderclap8?

I too am still awaiting the email. If I didn't make it this time, at least I made it last time.

I REALLY hope we get to operate one of the towers and shoot down one of those Chimeran Ships, the massive ones.
