I didn't get one either. But I never have the problem with having to submit a duplicate email. I think you're only supposed to get the "Thank you" email once?

I thought about that. The intention of the e-mail seems to be for confirmation of your address, and I confirmed my address last week.
But thebruce got a reply again this week... did you actually confirm last week, thebruce?

I used a different email again this week because I got that duplicate email message again.
The problem is, if it does in fact submit the code (right or wrong), but still tells you it's a duplicate email, it seems to indicate you need to re-submit with a different email.
So perhaps my submission went through twice - once with the duplicate email (no confirmation) and once with a new email (with the email verification and 'thank you for helping' email).
I'm sure 42 will recognize duplicate submissions if so (the name was the same).

I think it may very well be no confirmation... if there are duplicate entries, it shouldn't assume the first 5 unique submissions, and stop notifying more.

So we've got a miscommunication here...
The submission accomplishes two functions:
1) registers an email address
2) submits a code

It should send a verification email if the email address is new, and it should send a separate 'thank you' email to let you know you've submitted your code... that would avoid all the confusion I think.
Rather, we get no email at all if the email is already registered, and only get an email if the address is new and submitting a code (and we don't know yet if it's different for the first 5 correct and everyone else).

Now I'll stop babbling Razz

This is what I've been thinking also. I just didn't know how to put it in words as eloquently as you.

After my last post I played around with this a bit-

The first time you submit a code (right or wrong) you get an autoresponse (the 'Thank You'...) with a link to confirm your address.

If you use this link and confirm your address, all future submissions using this address will not receive a response.

If you do not confirm your address, any future submissions using that address will generate the 'netmail address already exists' message, and ask you to confirm using the previously sent autoresponse .

So for those who didn't get an e-mail this time, don't be concerned.

Damn my RL. This is the second week in a row that I had sh*t to do and missed out on the big solve. Unfortunately it looks like next Tuesday I will be a no-show, too. Ah well, I'm all caught up now I think. I used the spoilers to get the control numbers this time, though. Nice work everyone.

All I can give is my sympathy, I suppose I'm one of the lucky few that for now is free to play. I'll be in your boat soon enough.

I am still amazed at how quickly you got the code!!!
I printed the map straight away, I started to do it, but with the ruler was quite difficult to do it accurately... when I finished and tried to locate the perimeter, I just couldn't be sure at wether the lines were really overlaping a landmark or they were just close... lol I came here and myresistance.net (where I was writting) and I just found out you did it in a record time... I felt so disappointed lol I was not even near of the solution and you already posted the new CSN. I then just went into the terminal to check the findings, feeling I had lost precious time trying to check the intersections while others where already sending the codes... aaaw! Anyway I had fun trying, and I must admit you are genious! Lol
Congratulations and great job!
... I might register here.. LOL

** whispering: hey, here Seyelback to myresistance, stop, I have registered in their website, stop, I will keep informed, stop, closing now communications, stop, next contact this Friday, stop and over ***

LOL

Nah, great team you've got here... Wink

By all means, register, and welcome aboard!

Working as a team to discuss and process puzzles produces amazing results. One thing I like about this puzzle, is that I could present it to someone who has no exposure to the ARG yet, and they could solve it. They would need some additional info in order to check the answer (the URL and security login, in particular). If you want to get someone new involved, it might be a good angle. But the puzzle can also still be fun to solve even if you know the answer.

definitely. and hey, seyelback, even better would be spreading the love over to the other community too... welcome to uf! But don't necessarily abandon your other friends there Smile get them excited too... hehe

on that note, I think I'm going to step back next time, just enjoy the puzzle, but not make an effort to be the first to submit the DCN. If I did end up getting in on this one, then that's 2...
Kind of reminds me of the rush in Iris to unlock servers, only without a supposed promise for reward (unless you consider in-game mention a form of reward).
I still haven't got anything for being one of the unlockers =/

Thank you, both of you Smile
I started posting in the English forums of PS3, Resistance section... but at the moment I am alone there! If you read the posts there, I am having monologues with myself lol So I thought that I needed to find an active forum to chat about all this ARG, because I am loving it. So I registered in myresistance.net, because it was the only forum I knew, and they mention this forum quite a few times, so I popped in to see what the fuss was about lol. And I like it too. Smile I am still getting use to it, and I find difficult sometimes to find things, because they are spreaded in different threads, but the search option is helpful. You have an amazing work done in the wiki Bruce!!!
I am quite new to the ARG concept, so I find all these things amazing, and I am definitely enjoying it. Smile
It's going to be difficult on Fridays / Tuesdays to post in all these 3 forums I am in at the same time lol, but yeah, I won't leave the guys from myresistance. The PS3 forum can wait until the next following day for the updates, because these last days I was the only one updating, so maybe nobody is following the progress there!

And btw, I would consider the note in the AFAO newsletter a reward! Lol Although it could be better the beta lol Everybody started to post in the PS3-UK forum when they thought that a Beta was involved, now that it seems that the game - prequel - ARG is just for fun, people have withdrawn... I don't think there's any beta involved, but I enjoy the mystery and trying to unlock new areas / codes / info..

Anyway, again, thx!!!

*Seyelback puts her brand new uf badge in the uniform*

Ready when you are and waiting orders, Sirs.
lol

Agreed. Even though I stepped back from the group effort on this one, I still raced through it so fast that the fun of the solve was somewhat lost. Though with 42E, I feel tempted to continue doing so... you can never be too sure what they have in store.

Also, here's a Brownie for your fine print Wink

And nice signature, Seyelback!

Wow, thebruce, which server did you unlock in Iris? I got my server two stuff a few weeks after I submitted my key. You can have the book if you want it, but the t-shirt is already very worn. Smile

Real life has been killing me in this arg. Both times I've gotten extremely close to getting things done at least on the same speed as the group here, but I carpool with my fiancee and always have to leave before i can submit a control number!

Speaking of injections, I just wanted to point out that the INJ_Brown.flv file is not working on the wiki site - I just thought that I'd point that out. I wish that I knew how to extract flv videos from the website, because I'd definitely fix it myself.
