I'm preparing for the ring reunification session by browsing the relevant threads - and trying to draw a map that shows where the places "40 stadia away" from the National Stadium might be located. Fortunately, Google Maps offers a nice "Layer Circle" tool that should help to do this. Unfortunately, that tool doesn't work whenever I try it. And that would be such a nice and comfortable solution ...
OK, here you can follow the painfully slow progress of my work:

Is that a hedge maze just to the left of your spot?

Ah, the page my browser loaded at the time had only the one line, due south. It's line 01. Just west of the end of that line, on maximum available magnification, looked like a small hedge maze or something.

Ah, I see! The southern route would like right into Beijing's center. I wonder if that would make such a spot more or less probable? I doubt that our athletes would be allowed to run a labyrinth so close to the Forbidden City ...

Ah. THAT building? Don't forget the duct tape. Duct-tape the codex to your chest and the rings to your extremities ...

Here is a chat log in Word .doc format - everything from Eli's entry into the room to the departure of most everyone...
It's huge: 61 pages at 12pt text, but at least we can use the find function.
Later on, I recommend starting a thread for each of the main topics of discussion which have come out of the brainstorm - for now, back to work for me!
EDIT: I have temporarily removed the chat log - and will put it back up once I've removed everyone's IP addresses from it!

Here is Eli's Summary from the end of the Chat, which I have edited together to be more readable:

Well, we have our list of projects. I feel we have made excellent progress.
To summarize:
We will have to sort out our 5 and 1 , who will be which and what they do differently.
We need to pick a location 40 stadia from the stadium to do a choreographed 11 circuit Ariadne's dance, which someone will prepare a dance chart or map for. The dance is doing a labyrinth along the labyrinth path, but without any drawing on the ground. That's what makes it a dance -- the memorized steps.
We need to research further the "flare" , likely the official cheer, at the closing ceremonies, and we will most likely be sending the allies to travel from the same part of the Great Wall that is used in other Olympic activities.
Oh yes, and the sum of sports below the limit-- we must watch the Run Graph to see if we seem to be approaching a low enough number of worlds.
[Ariock: 100-28=72 billion?]
Ariock, yes, perhaps a total of 72 worlds is the maximum allowing travel. Let us keep an eye on that.
Excellent work, all. This has been a true pleasure to share theories and put our minds together tonight. I am certain we will resolve all of these unanswered questions before the 24th.
Okay, all, good night and see you again soon.
Sincerely yours,
Eli Hunt

I thank all people involved in the session. I apologize I couldn't follow all chats, since I'm slow in reading English. But I enjoyed a lot!
EDIT: I realized now I failed to respond to hello from Fencer and AUZ505. My apologies.

That was my favorite part. Sincerely yours in a chat is classic.

I haven't had the chance to read the chat transcript yet (sorry I missed it!!) but my question is, how in the heck did "Ariadne's dance" get involved again? Where did that come from??
