my bad, forgot to spoiler it.
So what is this, promotion?
maybe a movie adaptation of the comics?

They need to make their aliens more realistic. If MTV is going to have aliens that sound like THAT, nobody'll believe it.

I highly suggest people go to the link I linked, then the Facebook page, then look at the trailer.
It's kinda... odd.

I doubt this is a promotional ARG. The production values just aren't there. This screams grassroots to me.

Yeah seems a bit odd for MTV to start by posting on a forum..and the fact that E-bay sky bag (bin bag worth around 7p) (if it is in game) is based in the UK seems a little off for MTV

Surprisingly enough, I'm actually excited about this one. I read the comic series for a while back in college [since i had nothing better to do at the time] and it's actually quite good. tongue in cheek, irreverent, good stuff. the fact that MTV is in on this probably just means they threw money at whoever had the idea to do this, rather than do it themselves. I think this is just the natural growth of ARGs and the fact that they're becoming a viable way to market stuff. doesn't necessarily mean that it won't be fun!
[didn't mean to go off on a rant there...]

Except the fact that burgermart.com(which starts the thing) is an ad on the page Nighthawk linked?
This is in no way grassroots.

That being said, i'm doubting on mtv having much of an input into this one, it just doesnt seem to be as clean cut as other viral/args that big companies like itself have put together. I mean, the original post on uf for starters was a bit lame, although i guess it could just be pulling the wool over our eyes...
Edit:
Here is the dialog from the audio:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Found at:
www.burgermart.com/viltrum/
Title: Alien Audio
Artist: Sam Alper
Album: Sam Alper's Album.
It goes:
Abort mission.Viltrumite presence on planet detected. Repeat the viltrumites are already there. You have served our race well. No-one is coming for you, this planet is doomed. Activation code: 4152870956.
According to google, 415-287-0956 is a san-fransisco phone number, it might be worth a go, i would but im in the uk...
As a side note, isnt it wierd that they would do a viral/arg for a program which has already aired in full in america?
The only reason i can think of is it's a fan arg or this is directed at the uk, as its not out here yet. Which would explain the uk e-bay page i guess...
You can watch episodes here, (as long as your in america):

I called. It's a recording, says something along the lines of, "Well done, your mission is complete but the story continues. Please leave your name and mailing address here to receive your item."
Wonder if we all get bags of trash?
