[8/13/42] 8/5/08 New Location - Books-A-Million
Merrit Square Mall in Merritt Island, FL.

There's a new point on the map. Point is located at Merritt Island, FL. Description is "In scope. Don't you think you'll love the millions of books inside?" We got anyone down near there?

I'm guessing there's a book store inside maybe. Is this what Watcher was referring to with Fountain of Youth?

that would be the Books-A-Million {store name} in the mall there yes.

I know that NightHawk is in Miami. It's a bit of a drive to Merritt Island, but he has been soooo itching to go to a dead drop for an ARG. I don't know if he's been keeping up with this one so someone may want to PM him.

Curse! Yell! Swear!

I don't have a car, so driving isn't an option. And that's at least four hours away from me (250 miles).

There are a couple of others here that are closer - I think Lostgunslinger's in Gainesville, Vecheeso (I think) was in Titusville (which is pretty damn close), and we have people in Tampa. 'course, I could be wrong on all those.

So our spec was correct, 'fountain of youth' meant a Florida drop. Cool Cool

I wonder if this means Pasadena is completely dead in the water... the button on the map still says 'initiating backup', and tells us to expect contact.

So I'm sure someone will come forward soon.

I wonder if we're supposed to figure out a specific book to look for (ie: a letter inside, a package behind the shelf, etc.) Fountain of Youth and Ponce de Leon would seem the obvious choices for me, but we're probably going to need a better idea of the window. Whatever is going to be left there can't be there *yet*, or some patron or employee might mess with it. Even a letter in every copy of a book might raise alarms with the management and get removed.

Pixie, can you tweak the subject of this thread with the city/state? That might help suck in some local people when they see it's in the neighborhood... something I did far too late for the Pasadena loc

I'd bet you're still in play; you'll probably get a note from 13 or The Philomena Rising with a new place/time in the next few weeks, or possibly after the FL location is retrieved

Books-a-million in other locations have wifi access but I could not confirm it at the Merritt Square Mall location. If it does in fact have wifi, it could come in real handy and in fact may be why that location was chosen.

oh, and btw 200 posts w00t!

being as a work in a small bookstore in a mall.... i figured i'd call and ask a couple questions...

1- they are indeed a large full sized store
2- they do indeed have wi-fi access for customers
3- they have no idea what is going on {meaning, the PMs didn't talk to anyone there yet, which also means the PMs probably didn't hide anything in a book or on a shelf - or if they did, they did it the wrong way and it is going to get thrown out or worse... SOLD! at least as of today}
4- their coffee is yummy

have a blast my fine fellow friends, keep in mind, all we REALLY need 1 lovely person to go, because especially with the wi-fi, the rest of us can be in a chatroom helping from home.

Since 'first contact' was delivery of a video and a clue to future locations, I suspect that Caitlin's message to her parents, and the fountain of youth clue, may have been what we'd have found in Pasadena. Especially since the video led to a major discovery... The Philomena Rising.

Agreed. We we're given a very specific date and time for Pasadena... so I wouldn't head out there yet. I think that whatever we'll find there will be placed there shortly before we're expected to find it. And since we just discovered the location last night, I'd give The Watcher a day or two to tell us (if he's going to) when that will be.

You raise a good point. On the flip side, on a Meta level the PMs have seen that there is an interest in that area, and assuming that one of them is in relatively close proximity, it'd be silly not to take advantage of it. There can't be an unlimited number of locations they can visit, unless this is a hell of a lot bigger than it looks. This doesn't appear to me to be a huge production sponsored by one of the megacorporations, so the locations for dead drops is going to be limited to where the people running this are living or working or visiting grandma.

Even if this particular drop is over and done with, we might see more in the L.A. area in the future. As it seemingly represents "New Angeles".

Find Vecheeso; he lives in Titusville, and he's been complaining about Florida drops as much as I have (OK, maybe not *as* much...).

PM sent to Vecheeso. Pixie, can you modify the thread again with the date/time?

Edit: Vecheeso is working. Message sent to Lostgunslinger2
