Didn't have to wait long at all for something new! Very Happy Email this morning, about an hour ago. (I just woke up. Razz)

Dear Madam,
I have been informed that you will be paired with another new recruit. This is very rare; we usually work alone. You will be contacted by him soon.

Got an email from my new recruit partner earlier today. :]

Quote:
uh, hi.

My name's Nicklas, I guess Quist told you about me? Anyway, he said your name was Charesh and we were supposed to be a team. I gotta admit it's a little weird for me to think of someone I don't know as a team member. Doesn't that sound stupid? "Team Member," like some worker at a fast food restaurant. bleh. lol.

anyway, I guess I should tell you about myself.

oh bugger I have to go, look, I'll catch you later and we can talk some more alright?

Nick

P.S. forgot to say, just call me Nick Wink

Ask him for access to the darn reference books. I'm aching for some backstory. Gah, all of my other ARG's are barely preogressing.

I'm thinking Nick may be another 'new' recruit, like me... not already involved in the OES. I could be wrong, but that's what it seems like to me, especially from the tone of his email. Quist was always very... proper and mystic, Nick seems to be a regular kind of guy, not all wrapped up in the secret society world.

Edit:
I have a nice chunk to update with... I emailed back with a friendly thank you, and asked if he used google-chat or AIM at all. He wrote back shortly with this:

Quote:
Hi again!
I don't do a lot of chatting, but if you want sometime we can gtalk.
Those details I promised earlier:
My birthday is February 21, 1990, putting me right at the legal mark! w00t! I've been living on my own for a while now. I grew up in London, then we moved away a couple years back, and now that I'm getting ready for college I'm living in a little apartment back home.
I still talk with my dad a lot, however. We're really close. Since my mom has been gone all my life, and I've never really made friends much, my dad's always been there for me. We're more of friends than father and son. I actually caught myself calling him Norman once, rofl!
My interests are pretty broad; I've always been into artistic sorts of things, especially wheatpasting. You know what wheatpasting is? It's like what you see in movies and stuff where the workers slather glue all over posters and then squeegee them to walls. Except I print out a batch of scanned artwork and then go around at night wheatpasting. It's a lot of fun, even when they get torn down three days later. I mean, I only do it on public property. My tax dollars go to the upkeep of these places, can't i make them pretty?

lol sorry for the rant... but I'm passionate about it.

And the picture attached?... das me! a couple months back so my hair's a little longer now but it looks okay.
catch you later,
Nick

Shortly after the email arrived, he popped up on gchat, so I started talking.

Quote:

me: Hey there. :]
Nicklas: hi!
didn't expect to catch you so soon, I just sent out an email.. did you get it?
me: Yep, just read it. Boring night at home, just chatting on the interwebz. Razz
Nicklas: lol I return the sentiment
me: Cool stuff in your email... I've always wanted to go to London. I'm jealous! Hehe
Nicklas: it is a geat place, especially for artists.. are you an artsy type?
me: I'm more theatre and music-inclined than painting or the like, but that's artsy enough I guess. Wink
Nicklas: definitely! I love music too. Do you play any instruments? I play... like all of them lol
me: Ehh, I took guitar lessons for a few years, but I'm sadly out of practice. Heh. I was in choir for a total of 5 years in school, so my voice is an instrument of sorts as well.
Nicklas: yeh.. i love to sing too
me: Tenor, baritone or bass?
Nicklas: i have a... unique voice lol I guesss you'd call it tenor
i've never had any training so I don't know all the terminology
well that's not true, I learned music from my dad, but picked up all those instruments on my own
me: That's cool. Learning all the terminology can take fun out of some things.
Nicklas: definitely, I think the best way to leran is to enjoy it
my dad and I are actually in a band, but we have yet to record anything. we're still working on a name... do you think The Perots is too cheesy? roflmao
me: Hehe, not at all. Wink
So.. your dad's name is Norman Perot?
Nicklas: yeah, why?
me: When's the last time you spoke with him?
Nicklas: oh... three days I'd estimate, a little longer than usual becaus eI've been busy getting ready for school
me: Has he seemed odd lately? Sad or upset at all?
Nicklas: what? no, why are you asking this?
me: Are you aware that Quist keeps a blog?
Nicklas: uhm... no, but I get emails from him sometime. what does it have to do with my dad?
me: http://quistarktan.blogspot.com/
I don't think I should be the one to tell you this. :\
Nicklas: what? okay, I'm reading it now
omg, oh you have to be kidding me! is this for real? I just
I just talked to him a few days ago
he
me: I'm so sorry hon...
Nicklas: you don't understand, my dad is my BEST FRIEND in the world, he's literally the only one I have to talk to.. omg
he's the only person I know well, at all
and I can't tal to quist, he's... weird
me: Well I know we've only just met... over the internet and all.. but I'm here for you if you need to talk. I know it's not the same as your situation, but a very good friend of mine passed away the 21st of July, so... I've gone through loss recently myself.
Nicklas: really?
i guess maybe you understand a little more than I presumed at first
how close were you?
me: Yes. His name was Ben. We were friends for 7 years, even dated once. We were very close.
Nicklas: my gosh..
it makes you feel sick, doesn't it?
me: He was only 19,t oo.
Very much so.
Nicklas: I just.
hold on a second
me: Ok.
Nicklas: i need to take a tylenol
if only I had some frickin morphine
me: Headache? :\
Don't do anything drastic, Nick... it's not worth it.
Nicklas: I won't kill myself, don't worry. i'm not gonna hurt people like my dad did. although I'm not really leaving anyone behind
you really don't mind if I talk about him for a sec?
me: I don't mind at all. I talked to complete strangers about Ben after it happened. It helps.
Nicklas: great. see, it's really weird.. my dad was supposed to come meet me to check out the flat before school started. he was going to be here, literally two days from now. and now because of this OES thing he's gone, and he won't be coming in two days or two weeks or ever.
yeah, my dad was an OES'r too. I guess I can kind of follow his legacy, if you can call it that.
me: Did he ever share anything about OES with you?
Nicklas: Not a lot. I attended a couple of his little report meeting thingies a few times, but they were that secretive that I didn't even know anything about it. and we shared every single secret, believe me.
I don't even know what we're suppposed to be doing, besides getting to know each other Razz
me: I'm not sure either. It's a little unnerving...
Nicklas: what is?
me: The not knowing part. What if we've sold our souls to this society and don't even know it?
Nicklas: I'm pretty sure it's safe. My dad always got taken care of really well by these guys. I don't know how they're funded, but we lived well.
although the selling your soul part might be accurate. they don't seem to like people who leave and then tell.
however, you can't get in unless you try pretty hard anyway.
me: That's what I figured.
I am interested in knowledge and discovering truth in the world... but... I mean, your dad committed suicide because of something he learned through this organization.
Nicklas: Well.. yeah, as far as we know. Maybe he just didn't have the inner strength or whatever. I'm willing to find out whatever it is just to spite.. whoever or whatever. just get back somehow.
me: Well I'm in it with you, so we better kick some ass.
Wink
Nicklas: i'd love too..
okay, well I have to go, to think. I'm not sleeping tonight, I'll tell you that, but I guess rest will help.
It was great talking to you, I'll see you soon
me: Same to you, keep me posted, let me know you're alright. It's tough living alone after a loss, I know first hand.
Nicklas: okay, thanks a million Char Very Happy
bye
me: Bye

Thoughts?

I must agree. But...did you notice the part where he said:

Does he mean in the suicide sense or like...he actually killed?

sounds to me like he meant suicide.. if he killed, he probably didn't tell Nicklas. He said he didn't know about his OES practices

Any relation to Ross Perot? lol.

Meh, doesn't seem to be much we can ask at this point.

Just got an email from a new address and name. The subject was 'Join the Revolution!' from Prendick Marsh:

Quote:
http://fenestra.webs.com/

That's all the body said. At first, I thought I may've been picked for my very first trailhead (haha), but then I looked at the source code more closely. If you scroll down, there's a quote from Egdrish at the bottom.

As far as the site itself and what it says...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I tried anagramming and all the usual, but then I remembered the original questionnaire... about the Latin words. I looked it up. I'm not a Latin expert, so I might be very wrong, but I think the phrase roughly translates to 'I am a window'.

Also, the quote itself is:

Egdrish, master of time and space and god knows what else wrote:
"In every case known to me, they have died soon after fulfilling their life's work,
whether by unfortunate circumstance or by their own hands. Verily, the Truth
must be much more devastating than any of us can truly understand."
-Egdrish, "Mei Gnostia," 1823 translation

And yes, I went through several translators, and they all said roughly the same: " I to be Window". I assume this is Am, indirectly, so yeah. But who is a window to what? The Revolution?

Ego sum fenestra

I've been following this ARG since the beginning, I even sent an email to quistarktan, but I didn't want to get to involved for a little bit. Now though I received this email from a "Prendick Marsh":

Join the Resistance

http://fenestra.webs.com/

When I went to the website all that was there were the words:

Ego Sum Fenestra

I have no idea what language it is, I tried looking around. So in my failure I checked the Source code, and it gave me this:

<!--"In every case known to me, they have died soon after fulfilling their life's work,
whether by unfortunate circumstance or by their own hands. Verily, the Truth
must be much more devastating than any of us can truly understand."
-Egdrish, "Mei Gnostia," 1823 translation-->

I think this is better left to more experienced people.

Edit: haha we posted at the same time

your email says "Join the Revolution", but mine says "Join the Resistance"?

Is that right or is it a mistake?
