Okay, so I got a reply to my email (not the recruitment form):

My email was:

Quote:
Dear Mr. Quistarktan, [yeah, I think Mr. is wrong here]

thank you for your quick reply and kind words. I already filled out the Recruitment Form. Is the AOES the head of your Society, or your competitor?

Due to your warm welcome I am even more interested in becoming an active member of your Society.

A personal question at the end: Your name sounds very interesting. Is it of Afghan background?

With best regards, [...]

Answer:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dear Madam,
001. Neither
002. Your interest may be rewarded.
003. No.

Evaluation Part II will now commence.

Znk gtyckx zu znoy wakyzout oy lgryk. Zxak ul Lgryk?

Your reply?

So AEOS is neither head nor competitor to OES. My interest in becoming an "active member" may be rewarded and Quistarktan is no Afghan name. Well, yeah. I wanted you to talk about your name. But they don't seem to be that cheap...

And now about the decoding. Anyone an idea? They want a reply.

That was obviously a ROT. Not sure they'd start with something too hard.

Anyways, methinks if OES is Our Enlightened Society, then AOES is Associates of Our Enlightened Society.

oh, and I'm Number 300502.

Bananas!

No, you have to outsmart him.

Tell him you thinks there is no answer as if the answer to the statement is false, then the statement has to be true. but in saying so it's false. some other parodoxical stuff to make him think you're a good candidate.

I thought the answer would be yes. It says the statement is false and the question is true OF false. So yes it is true of false. Just my two cents

lol, great minds think alike - I sent in that exact answer. but technically it breaks the rules; it's a true-orfalse question Confused

So I initially got denied, but then I sent this reponse to him(?):

Quote:
Quistarktan,

By Elbrahim's name, I wouldn't want to miss this opportunity for the world. I do apologize for the secrecy, but I feel the very act of not wanting to break prior privacy policies reveals more about my character than you give credit for. I feel it shows how deeply devoted I can be to my organization. I also feel it shows my willingness to do what is necessary for the well-being of the organization. I can assure you, the MNA is now defunct and poses no threat to you or the OES as far as my loyalty is concerned. If you would be so kind as to give me a second chance, I would relish the opportunity to learn more about OES and apply my skills to ensure its successful future.

I wait in anticipation for your reply.

Warm regards,

[name]

Shortly thereafter, I received this response:

Quote:
Sir,
Very well. But be advised you are low on the list.

In Elbrahim We Rest,
Quistarktan

Methinks this guy doesn't like me much Smile

Don't worry Schummbo, you'll work your way up =P

Anyways, next time this guy logs on, I'm going to send him a Gchat message. Anything I should ask in particular?

I think it's trickier than that. He says "the answer to this question is false. True or false?" Then he ends with "Your reply?"

First, that wasn't a question. Questions end in question marks. The question came after. He is telling us in the statement what our answer should be for the question that follows. Unless I'm wrong. Question

I'm not sure. I know the question. Is it SUPPOSED to be "of"?
If it is, then the answer is yes.
If it is a typo, I'm not sure of my answer. Is it supposed to be true, because it is true that the answer is false? Or if it is false, that means the answer is not false, because that means the statement is not true.

Therefore, my answer: Trick Question.

First I wanted to talk about it in a philosophical way. Bu then that thing with the "of" came up and i took that way as well (together with the remark that the first thing is no question at all). Got the same response.

Quote:
Dear Madam,
You think too much.

This has raised your elevation on the list.
In Elbrahim We Rest,
Quistarktan

Postscript: Please, call me Quistarktan. No one else calls me anything else.

On Sat, Aug 9, 2008 at 1:21 PM, <my> wrote:

Dear Mister,

"The answer to this question is false. True of false?"

First of all you have to note that there is no question. The first part is rather a statement that wants to be verified. Then there is the "of" instead of the "or". Deliberately?

I could talk about the impossibleness of answering the true-or-flase question now, or just acknowledge that it is true. It is true of false. Yes.

Edit: Strange. I don't seem to have gotten the "Pt. 3: Who was Egdrish?" part. Only the Postscript.

*comes out of lurking*
My reply to the ROT email:

Quote:
Well. If I'm meant to take it in a very literal sense, I would suppose
the answer to the question asked is 'yes'.

However, I noticed that the statement mentions 'this question', not
'the following question', which doesn't expressly indicate the
question at hand. Therefore, the question that follows the statement
could be separate entirely, and could not be answered without the
proper context.

Annnd his response:
Quote:
Dear Madam,
You think too much.

You are now number 3.
In Elbrahim We Rest,
Quistarktan

Pt. 3: Who was Egdrish?

Very Happy
