ok I think we're getting warmer. hack and slash. well you need to hack to find the subdirectories, you put slashes between them. I like the stairs idea. dub dub dub I am now almost certain means use WWW not FTP.

Second verse, same as the first. <- still use aquapolis???

Let's view it from the top <- top? top of the world? WWW?

view it from the top and add the new directory

i think it's from root, meaning http://www.theaquapolis.com/direcotry goes here/

don't use the urchin one anymore

I think Pollux is the first one here to realize that the "Grabbing Internet Files, a primer" could have a dual meaning. First, it leads you to the GIF file...second, it's saying prime numbers are used to grab internet files. Although that doesn't necessarily mean on paintover. Maybe the GIF leads you to a place where you use prime numbers to find files, similarly to carelessly.

can we plug this into NjWebGuy's theory?

I think we missed something. Yeah the GIF image IS a primer...how to get to the next site. I think we need 1 more clue to break this open. Does anyone else think that BTW...Congrats! is less innocent than it looks? Someone already noticed red dots...stegging? Hmm...

You should be able to. The Forbidden usualy comes up if you enter the wrong password for that resource. If you weren't asked a password, IE could be caching the password you previously used. Forbidden would also come up if you didn't specify a filename - since the directory is hidden.

I've been kinda using that to try some things.

Finding subdirectories, not including a filename

If you try to access a directory that is not there you get "not found"

If you find a directory it should report "Forbidden" after which you need to find either a specific file or another subdirectory.

But since the permutations are phenomenal the directories would have to be the answers to clues.

This can't be done blind. we need to be led.

anyways, i think all the answers would be in one pic... the 'oh and btw...' seems like his congrats picture was an afterthought... i think if anything (tho i hope and am sure ill be proved wrong) that in the congrats thered be a steno of whoever hes congratulating...

This works, however I did wonder if it refered to the first directory being the same as the site address (nothing came of it)

OR we start the search at the root of the site, rather than the "Urchin" subdirectory we used previously.

EDIT: Sorry HjWebGuy, I missed your post - just saw it looking back Embarassed .

I don't want to do away with all theories on the last two pages of this thread, but I just thought of something that maybe offers an alternative theory on the meaning of the stegged message.

Slight change in plans.
Second verse, same as the first.

Could this be about the first and second pic that got posted on paintover.net? We "cracked" the second pic, but not the first... can they possibly hint us that the method to do that is the same?

The blind transit's been plugged to the oafs

Meaning, we discovered the "blind" FTP?

Let's view it from the top

Encouraging us to retrace our steps, i.e. go back to the first paintover.net pic?

Blindly, still, but climb those stairs carefully

Blindly meaning either we are still "in the dark" about the meaning of the picture, or maybe blindly is a reference to the "eye see" remark that came with the picture?

I'm puzzled about the stairs bit though...

dub dub dub, hack and slash
You'll find the way!

The second pic pointed us to an ftp site, so the first is trying to point us at a www. site?

Maybe I'm way off, but I thought I'd share anyway...
[EDIT] And to undermine my own theory in one way: I am assuming that "they" are talking to "us", while the rest of the conversation through paintover.net is considered a conversation meant for "them"selves... hmmm
