Thanks Noisy. Did anyone else ask anything?

I tried sending one question at a time, apparently that doesn't work. I only received an answer to my first question.

Quote:
Q: What question should be asked, that when answered will give the most important information that we should know?
A: You tell me. People should need to think for themselves occasionally.

Q: You've said that you are able to access the prison database. Is there a way for us to access this database?
*A: Not presently. But perhaps, soon.

I received no answer to the second question. Rolling Eyes

Next time I won't ask any questions, incase you need an extra set of questions answered.

*ETA WooHoo! I got an answer to my second question. I've added it above, inside the quote box.

just jumped in
figuring it out

i happened across the sudoku game today. i was curious what the "time is up" not ment, and what the "three questions" link was about, so I clicked it. as you all already know, it was an e-mail.

i was very curious when i got a response to my very un-useful questions that told me that this was a puzzle that can be played, and that led me to this forum.

so, i've now learned about these alternate reality games... i knew something like this existed because I'm a big nine inch nails fan, and i think there was something funky going on with year zero album... and the poster for the lights in the sky tour resemble these 13 lights that i see all over.

anyhow, i'm writing all of you to say that it seems that whoever is answering questions is still answering them, even though the "time is up."

Oh no, you should ask your own. The whole point of these things is that a jillion monkeys hammering away at a jillion typewriters eventually ask the right questions, and those of us monkeys who have been hammering away for awhile may not come up with the single piece of info that your question(s) might.

Everyone has a different approach, and everyone can find some segment of a (well designed) storyline interesting. Personally, I wouldn't have thought to ask a fraction of the questions that have been asked.

In other words, you have something to contribute, all on your own.

On a Meta-level, the Puppermasters aren't going to let the storyline founder if we don't ask the 'right' things - they will find ways to prod us in the right direction. We still don't have a definitive answer for the timing on the next drop - I'm willing to bet that there is either another Q&A session or another puzzle that will give us that answer before time is up.

First, welcome to the insanity.

I would suspect that the Puppetmasters (ie: the people running the game) are flexible enough to answer questions from new people, but would pretty much ignore those of us who are supposed to know the score.

Have not you posted an "answer"?

Q:"Regarding the Suduko math, there are questions related to the methodology. What do the "..." after the first four variables for Yellow and Blue mean?"

A: I think you already know. As someone not very famous once said, "You always second guess yourself. Just think of all the time you'd save if you just trusted yourself."

So why not take the first answer we had after the sudoko changed?

following AUZ505's method, the math comes out to 1600.5, so 4:00pm?

Why should we not trust 4:00pm?

We very well could - on a Meta level, if we collectively decide that 4:00 is the right time, I'm willing to bet that's when someone will be there. I'm not fully confident that it's not just the first four variables myself, but the way the arrows have been tweaked would seem to lead to a more complex solution (aka the 4:00 one).

I suggest we run with the assumption it is 4:00. If we're wrong, we'll doubtlessly find out sooner rather than later.

it would appear to me that after the last puzzle that people worked so hard on, just to discover its yet another useless "clue" that we already have, many have stopped following this ARG, which is really sad since its a very cool concept so far. I say this based on the fact that like only 8 people asked questions from this board.

Just wish they were a little more thoughtful with the clues and the puzzles

More important, I wish the puzzles weren't just arbitrary but chosen from the context of the game--and that they advanced the plot. Same principle for why a fight scene has to advance the plot and reveal character in a good movie.

I mean, we're caught up in some massively important event and the Underground communicates with...Sudoku?

Then too, at first blush I liked the fact that this ARG contacted ppl individually, breaking a major 'rule' of ARGs. But why answer questions if those answers are intentionally vague?[/spoiler]

I would say moving to our own forum is a double edged sword - we're going to get fewer people just checking things out in passing.

I will agree that redundant puzzles are... annoying. If we're stymied in solving a critical note, there are better ways to help us than give us two methods to find a solution. Both Griddlers ended up being wastes of time.

I also agree that the excitement level is down here. We're getting more data with every meet, but it doesn't seem to be *leading* anywhere - we're just filling in the background.

Some of the puzzles have been good, however. The Surveillance photos, to my mind, are a great example - although it didn't necessarily do much for us, figuring out that it was a badge swipe was pretty neat. The way that the Philomena Rising was found was also nifty.

My two cents...
From my point of view the problem that so less people asked questions is not because people has stopped following this game. I guess it is because we do not know what to ask at the moment. The most questions we have/had are already answered and we do not know what are the right questions at the moment.
At least I have no idea what to ask that would lead to something.

For me the real fun thus far has been working to uncover elements of the story. I enjoy puzzles and drops, but with this game it's definitely the plot that's kept me intrigued. So I prefer to focus my questions on characters, settings, events, etc.

If you can't think of anything to ask that seems relevant to what's currently happening, maybe speculate a bit about the overall story... let the imagination run wild!
