[ARG] "Kronos480BC" - Hope Ranch Camping Expeditions article on despoilers "Sign us up for camp canyadigit" - Adult film promo ok maybe I am overlooking this on this forum, if so, plz point me in to the correct topic and srry for double posting if i am, but this article is on http://www.Dispoiler.org
It is about a ancient necklace that was lost, it links to an article at http://kronos480bc.livejournal.com/ if u read the comments on talks of the necklace being a clue to a mystery.
the other comment, im assuming is in greek, when translated the subject is: "Happy Birthday Aga", and the message is: "Be careful in the mountains, George P."
I havent looked at the other link given by despoilers, http://hoperanchfoundation.org/ , but if any1 finds something there, let me know
EDIT: srry catherwood ty for pointing that out http://www.despoiler.org/2008/04/03/camp-canyadigit/ shoulda been on there, srry
[edit - updated for the name of the ARG - kona]

it's really much easier to paste a URL than typing it from memory (and more accurate too) -- you meant http://www.despoiler.org/ (singular) and this direct link
A quick search for "Agamemnon" or "Canyadigit" didn't turn up any discussion, so I'll guess this is the first mention of it here.

Go to http://hoperanchfoundation.org/index.html and go all the way down to the bottom. Under Categories there is an almost invisible link (use Ctrl+A to see it). Click the link and read about the ARG.

OK, WTF. This is in conjunction with Spearmint Rhino, purveyor of 'gentlemen's clubs' and 'adult entertainment' as well as a couple other 'adult' companies? I'm guessing from that link that this is associated with this?

And I thought they would want to avoid being viral !

I don't know... one of the links on the site takes you to http://hoperanchfoundation.org/BobbiesJournal.doc which has about 40 pages of back story to catch up on. I'm looking forward to the readers digest version.
There is also some video (not pr0n thankfully) at askoracle's myspace page.
Seems like somebody has put some time and effort into it.

I think I'm going to give it a shot. It does seem like they've put some effort into it. Going to send an email to the Hope Ranch Foundation.
I just don't want any pr0n sent to me...lol

well, if you are going to market an adult film........
from the ARG link:
Quote:
Kronos480BC is an alternate reality game, designed to tie into the summer release of an adult feature film. Due to violence and explicit adult subject matter, only those 18 years of age and older are eligible to play for rewards in Kronos480BC. Although the story line and rewards in Kronos480BC are not explicit in nature, the product itself is.
So I guess this thread can be relabelled "[ARG] Kronos480BC" with a subtitle (warning - adult content)?

I agree, it does look like there is some effort behind this, which is why I was taken aback when I saw who was signing the paychecks. Hopefully the experience is more rewarding than the eye-gougingly terrible trailer for The Four movie linked to previously.

I'm reading Bobbie's journal now. It looks to be 32 pages long and is a MS Word document. Pretty well written so far.

I've exchanged emails with Ms. Bobbie Hope, founder of the Hope Ranch, currently on an archaeological dig in the Altai region of Siberia. She was quite friendly, but the conversation was unexciting. Maybe I was expecting "Thank God you emailed... I need your help!!!"
Instead I got "Hello, so nice to hear from you, the weather is fine, go look at this website for information on beautiful Tuva (http://www.fotuva.org/travel/index.html ).
Correspondence was just what you would expect to hear from a stranger doing strange work in a strange land. Nothing particularly noteworthy.
A clever ploy?
First act jitters?
Undiscovered clues?
I dunno...
