Posted today at BoardGameGeek, seems like someone recieved an email from FFG, probably from a mailing list.

Quote:
Jinteki's pledge of humanity is a lie. Let them know you want to keep humans first. Get your friends to send an e-mail to aniseiSPLATjintekicorp.com or cmichaelsonSPLATjintekicorp.com and force them to see you want the human touch, not just a pale imitation. Jinteki only sees the bottom line. Remind them that their customers are humans, too, and they need us to survive. I'm next to be replaced. These e-mails may save me. If they don't, you’ll have to decide how far you’re willing to go to save the rest of us. Please get as many people as you can to send the message to Jinteki. My life is in your hands.

Over on boardgamegeek, they're really on top of the thing. Though, a bit lacking in some areas. So I'm gonna keep doing stuff over here.

Ok, so, here's something.

It was observed that the code is a youtube address.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bo73ahuPgU

The cards are called Zener cards developed to test ESP in the seventies, as seen here. Notice the barcode on the woman's neck (which someone at BGG thinks is digitally added to the video fFor some reason, but I tend to disagree).

Also, the text on the opening black screen simply says "This video and any subjects within are the property of Jinteki corporation, and not for public or private distribution. violators will be subject to legal actions including fines and incarceration." I'm not sure how a private company can put people in jail, but alright.

The second text screen reads:
Code:
Date: 10/12
Subject - 8
Test Number - 138E5p29x.14
Project - Nisei

The user, Bletch138, has a jnumber of other videos. All of them are of "Subject 8" doing Zener tests.

The girl's record of correctness throughout the videos:

October 12: 2 out of 10 correct
October 15: 2 out of 10 correct
October 19: 1 out of 10 correct
October 21: 2 out of 10 correct
October 25: 2 out of 10 correct

An altogether average rating. Also, she has very pretty eyes.

Here's the text description on each video:

Quote:
My name is Alan. I work at Haas Bioroid. Jinteki has spent the last 5 years culminating an abomination. The think that they can play God and not have any consequences. I managed to get these videos out, but I don't know how long I can keep them up, before Jinteki gets them taken down.

Quote:
I am getting these out as fast as I can, but I think Jinteki may be on to me.

Quote:
There are a few more. I can only hope these find someone who can blow the lid off Jinteki...

Quote:
They are starting the replacements. I knew a guy named Rick that worked there. When I called they told me they didn't have authorization to tell me where he was. They transferred me around but, I couldn't get a hold of him. There are 2 more videos after this. I will post when I get the chance, but I am moving to make sure they don't find me until this is all out there.

Quote:
I've got one more after this one. They are tracking me. I managed to shake them for a bit, but I don't know how long I have.

Ah, video 6 is up.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HX0kj4Ttkr0

Description:
Quote:
Jinteki is going to kill me. I had no idea what I had taken from them. This video is my death warrant. Spread the word, I fear I won't be able to do so...

Date: October 31.

Not just 10 out of 10 correct. 7 or so of them were called before the card was even held up. The video gets downright shaky, and her eye starts to glow at one point. The man, at the end says "Did you get that?" Seeming to ask the cameraman, or someone.

OOOOHHH CREEPY!!!!!

Something worth noting: Ed Browne, on BGG, says he has seen these videos before, suggesting FFG might be using archival fFootage. Hm, okay. If that's true, then it might be useful to see the original fFilms, wherever they might be.

-------------------------

One other thing: Cynthia Michaelson, Jinteki Public Relations, did an interview over on fFortress Ameritrash. It offers more hard data than we have ever had before, but still manages to tell us not-very-much. The only sane comment I get fFrom it is this:

Cynthia wrote:
Jinteki has no comment on these allegedly "leaked" emails. Look, when you get to be as successful as Jinteki has become, you're going to have some anonymous malcontents that are trying to make you look bad. Who knows what possesses these people? Most likely just too much time on their hands. Instead of contributing to society like Jinteki does, they seek to tear others down.

Browne (AKA Grimstax) and brian (AKA ColtsFan45) seem to be, at best, untrustworthy. Meanwhile, Robert Walton (AKA humansfirst) seems to be... I'm not sure. It's hard to tell which of these are people who are a bit too much into roleplaying, and which might be PM sockpuppets.

That may be. But i **REALLY** want to avoid cross-board trash talk. And, whatever their motives, they have been actively engaged in the game, coming up with useful information. I'm delighted to hear fFrom them, whatever the case. Meanwhile, unfiction will do what unfiction does best: analyze the fFacts with a critical eye, to inveigle the truth fFrom the situation.

BIG update!

As per FFG has a new webpage layout. It's quite pretty, but mostly has little to do with jinteki.

Secondly, there's a banner ad on BGG, which fFor some reason I can never seem to see, but others swear it's there all the time (It's probably my browser blocking the ads). Here are static images of the animated ad:
- -

Thirdly -- and this is the important part -- We fFinally have hard data about the new game product!!!

There's a news item on the FFG webpage, which links to a video (I haven't had a chance to download the vid myself):
http://new.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=223

And, lastly, a new product home page!
http://new.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=68&enmi=Android

Quote:
Android is a board game of murder and conspiracy set in a dystopian future. Detectives travel between the city of New Angeles and moon colony Heinlein chasing down leads, calling favors, and uncovering the sinister conspiracy beneath it all. The detectives must balance their pursuit of the murderer against their personal lives and inner demons.

Android's innovative mechanics ensure that no two detectives play alike. Will you play as Louis Blaine, the crooked cop tormented by guilt and loss? Or will you take the role of Caprice Nisei, the psychic clone who struggles to retain her sanity while proving she's just as human as anyone...

Yes, the new big fFancy game thing fFrom FFG, the thing which the ARG is intended to promote, fFinally has a name! Android!

There's more, so very much more, on the site. Go go go!

It would appear the ARG is over, the story having shifted to the more traditional media of board game, named Android. Much info is available on BGG ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/39339 ). I think I'm gonna call this ARG kaput.

Android seems like a pretty interesting game.

Things we now know:

* Rules have been posted as a 48 page PDF.

*If you are bored by mechanisms of boardgames, you might just skip to page 40, where Kevin Wilson gives some designer notes. A nice little read.

* The weird brown swoopy thing we saw in an image somewhere is a vehicle ruler, used to measure how fFar a car can drive on the board (or, likewise with other vehicles).

* Robert Walton (humansfirst) on the BGG thread is an in-game character. Everyone else is not.

* Jinteki and Haas Bioroid are staunch competitors, both building their own androids.

* The videos on youtube are (I believe) of Caprice Nisei, the "psychic clone."

* "Heinlein was originally established as a starport and mining facility. The moon's soil proved to contain Helium–3, an isotope particularly suited as fuel for modern fusion reactors. Competition for this mineral was one of the major contributing factors that led to the War." Just a little backstory, there.

* "As the terraforming of Mars has progressed, the settlers have split into different clans, each laying claim to one of the major habitation domes on the planet. The clans identify their members by means of small tattoos near the eyes, and are currently locked in a civil war for control of the planet."

* The guy who we saw in the fFuzzy blue and white image was ... this guy. Apparently a suspect. I've attached his image, as seen on page 9 of the rulebook. But I don't see his name given anywhere in the book. fFriendly looking sort, isn't he?
