What do you mean 'literal noise'? I took a look at it in the GIMP and messed about with the image a bit and there are a few bits that are a bit odd in that its a pretty simple image but there are a lot of asymmetry around the central logo. Of course that could just be some artifacts of whatever process they used to create this version of the logo or the compression algorithm but still...
EDIT: The 'noise' seems to be pretty much identical between all 3 channels... not sure if thats significant.
I meant that maybe it's an MP3 or WAV file? I had a chance to try these extentions, however iTunes, VLC and Windows Media Player wouldn't open them. I also opened the file in a hex editor (PSPad) and the only thing strange I saw was at the end there were a lot of "2020"s.
I think your right about the admin "n01se" making it though, however, why did he make it? There has to be something inside it... >< I'll look into the bmp -> bianary thing if I get a chance later today.

Logo The Admin posted to the forums that that a user named "Vancanek" had alerted them to a problem with the logo on the website. They have replaced it with a black and white logo now. They also got rid of the weird little symbols at the top of the page. I wonder if the weird white bar on the old logo was not intentional.

If I eliminated a couple of our clues, I apologize. I emailed Utada about the logo, but this isn't the response I was looking for. But come on... are you telling me the "webmaster" didn't realize someone was planting clues on the website without his/her knowing, especially as obvious as the logo on the homepage?

also this kind of confirms there is *something* fFishy about the logo, other than just some noise. They were pretty specific fFor it to be of no consequence, dontcha think?

I saved the previous logo on my home computer and can upload it to photobucket when I get home and will post the link. The coding looks a lot different than the one posted in this thread.

I think what we need to do now is to resize the new logo, and see if somebody can extract some different data from this image. Does anybody know how to do that? (lol)
Also...is Vancanek one of us? A quick googling of his name brings up several other ARGs...none related to Jinteki (I think one was Last Command...can't remember the other though)
EDIT: Woah! Looks like something just took the forums down.

I can not access the webpage or forum now. I get a 404 could just be me though. Also in his message he did mention that if they found it they would shut it down. Maybe they are just playing the part. Don't know.
Van is a vetern here with 113 posts so I would say one of us.

Is it possible the "n01se" reference was just a clue to check the DNA code for "noise"?
That was an awesome bit of lateral thinking, connecting the "noise" characters to "id=humanity" via substitution. Good job!

The 404 error has been replaced with this
Quote:
There has been a security breach.
Our systems will be available again once they have been secured and the damage repaired.
I wonder if they found the phantom forum. I hope not.

Me too, though we may not know until the 3rd. Looks like this one's going to be a Wednesday-updater.
There's got to be something to that image. Did anyone happen to download the undoctored image for comparison?

Image Here is the original image. Just be aware that even though it ends in .jpg it is really a .bmp file. You have to rename it if you want to open it in Photoshop. I've looked it over... it looks like something a novice would make, with high compression, format issues, and cropping issues... hopefully it was intentional and not just a real novice. That said, I haven't seen any clues in it. The RGB spreads are normal, no hidden channels, no meta info... if it has hidden data it is in a format that Photoshop can't see, or it is very well hidden.
