I am lost. Help me. Bang Head Good lord, y'all. I give up (for now) cuz this mess is making my head hurt, but I went ahead and counted up the letter frequencies for the heck of it:

a - 0
b - 3
c - 2
d - 2
e - 5
f - 2
g - 3
h - 4
i - 2
j - 1
k - 0
l - 2
m - 2
n - 10
o - 10
p - 0
q - 7
r - 4
s - 11
t - 9
u - 4
v - 2
w - 1
x - 5
y - 1
z - 1

93 letters total. However, I'm starting to wonder if the capitalization, punctuation & spacing aren't red herrings or something.

Nearly there, using Bifid Cipher, and translating the A, (five by five grid of alphabet with no A), this comes out of the tool @ Rumkin

Quote:
i lm lost... i need your help. i don't even know who you lre, or even if you exist i just need this to get to somebody lnd flst.

transposing the stray els for ayes and you get it.

I couldn't get it any closer, but I think it conveys the message...

Nice job, Tex! We already sort of figured out where we needed to head to, but nice job tying up the loose end =)

Thank you Tex! Very Happy
There is a new blog post that has an image attached with the name Xin_23.jpg. Seems odd because the other 2 images had logical names...Outsidebarn and Weirddeadthing. It doesn't seem to be stegged but it's odd that he changed the way he labels his photos.

Could the coyote be stegged? It's a pretty simple picture, but it's 20 KB's.

EDIT: New post, he sees something moving.

The weirddeadthing pic is positive for jphide but only 1 star. Nothing I tried as a password worked.

What is 1 star classified to be, or whatever?

When you run StegDetect the program will give you a negative or positive result and the name of the program it might be stegged with, as well as a ranking with stars. 1 star is low, so it might not be stegged at all.

It's not stegged. I have a blindingly simply way to check for stegged files.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Step 1. Save the image itself as a file.
Step 2. Do a screen capture of the picture, and cut it down in paint so all that the file is, is the original picture(You don't have to be exact. Some white space is ok)
Step 3. Check to see how much space each picture takes up. If the paint picture is more, or equal, the picture is unstegged.

Um, so I didn't see anyone mention this, but have you guys noticed the similarity to Jake in The Dark Tower series? Some of the details are different (mainly the laptop) but a lot is basically the same. Jake is hit by a car (Later we learn he was pushed) and he wakes up in the waystation in the middle of a desert. I'm pretty sure he even eats jerky or packaged meat or something like that. Also, the title of the blog would make sense "What in the worlds" since Jake wakes up in another world. Anyone else find this a little weird?

Nice point faeryqueen21, I thought about the Dark Tower myself when I was reading the blog and then promptly dismissed it Smile

Checked his profile and he states that his favorate books are "anything by Stephen King". Just thought it interesting considering the Dark Tower likeness.
