My theory is that various browsers are still using a cached version of that "wrapper" flash file, the one that didn't correctly link to the updated content. Today's version has been corrected. You can do drastic things like deleting all of your browser's cached files, or try various methods to force a refresh. Some things I do notice:
http://dharmawantsyou.com/site/ does NOT load
http://www.dharmawantsyou.com/site/ DOES load
http://www.dharmawantsyou.com/site/index.php works now but did not yestereday
http://dharmawantsyou.com/site/index.php also does NOT load -- on my home computer, that is.

catherwood,

I've tried removing my stuff... no luck. Maybe I'll delete my cookies... but it also didn't work on Epiphany web browser - I'm guessing it's a Flash thing.

Hey guys....just for reference;

I have a 6 or 7 year old Mac iBook, running version OSX 10.4.11...I use Safari, and the Flash Player Plug-in is version 9.0. And only 256 MB of built in memory. I have a wireless connection. And for the first time ever, I have no stinking problems running the Dharma site other than the normal traffic bog downs.

However..........my son is having problems on our big Mac (G4, the big grey server box one--also old) using Firefox. He usually prefers Firefox over Safari for online gaming purposes. But in this case it seems to get stuck on the "beach ball of doom" endlessly (that's the Mac version of "hour-glassing"). Yet on Safari the site loads up fine on that Mac.

Just thought I'd add that bit of info in.....don't know if it helps.

PS: I *always* use the URL of www.dharmawantsyou.com only. I let it convert on its own.
Idea Idea
PPS: Could this be a "player" vs. "plug-in" dilemma?

Have you tried hansvaneeghenSPLATdharmawantsyou.com ? That might be what you're looking for.

Can you clarify what you mean by "the work computers that weren't using it"? That does not make any sense to me for some reason. Confused

Could you get the exact version number of the flash players you are using, please? I'm not sure how to do that on Linux, but if you could get those it might help. I still think we might be looking at a compatibility problem between minor revisions here.

I cleared my cache and nothing happened when I reloaded the site. I know I was running the flash 10 beta, so I went and downloaded Flash Player 9.0.124.0. The site works perfectly now.

Excellent! I guess my hypothesis about the site being incompatible with one of the flash versions was correct, then. Well Shaggy, try the latest non-beta version and let us know how it goes! Wink

Ack, sorry. I mean that the computers which were (and also weren't) running the site. I have no idea what could be different between the two, since the company runs a strict policy of what gets installed and what doesn't. I can only assume they would all be identical.

Sure. I just reinstalled the latest stable Flash that was in the Ubuntu repository, and it didn't work, so I'm back to the Beta 10 because I have less (read: pretty much no) crashes of the plugin, whereas with the nonfree-plugin it would crash every second load.

Hmm, that sounds good, except I really need that version number on the "latest stable" version. For example, mine is 9.0.124.0, and it works fine. I am not sure how you would find such a number on the linux version as I am a WinXP user, but it should be there somewhere. Try looking around where the install files are in the repository, the install file name, or on the uninstall page in linux(if that is how that works). I know I must sound somewhat like a broken record, but I really think the number might help us solve this thing.

EDIT: Oh, and the number on the beta coudn't hurt either, if you can find it. Wink

On a Mac you just do FILE-->FIND and type in FLASH, then find the app or plug in, highlight it....go back up to FILE-->GET INFO and it will tell you. Maybe it's similar?

Shaggy, I was in the same boat as you, Linux Mint using Firefox 3. I can confirm Flash 10 RC doesn't work, switching to Flash 9 stable works I didn't try the dev version, to simplify having multiple versions of flash installed I recommend the flash switcher extension from the following link http://www.sephiroth.it/firefox/flash_switcher/index.php

Personally I tend to remove any mention of Flash using synaptic, free and non-free, it might also be worth checking about:config and about:plugins in FireFox to check whats what.

Why an in-game email and not a message directly to the Puppet Masters? It seems to me that in-game email addresses would be when role playing and otherwise interacting with the game as a game. When there's an actual issue with gameplay (be it a technical one such as Flash or a more social one like abusive or cheating players), it seems to me like it would be more efficient to go directly to the source. That way, you can talk directly to the technical and/or administrative folks and get real, direct answers and not have to dance around the "this is not a game, but really it is, and it's busted" sort of role-playing. Hoodlam's website does list several email addresses on their contact page, for what it's worth.

On Firefox 3, under any operating system, you can do Tools->Add-Ons, then click the "Plugins" tab to get the version of Flash that the browser is currently using.

I can confirm that 9.0 r124 is working fine for me under OS X.

True that, but when did we establish that Hoodlum ran DWY? I agree that if they do, that is Shaggy et. al. best bet. Wink

Haha, I see that after a couple years of working with Firefox, I still have not figured it out. Dunce Thanks for the tip though, that simplifies things quite a bit.
I can also confirm 9.0 r124 is good to go on WinXP.

Yup, that is the exact version I have as well.
