The only thing I can think of for the groups, is that it has something to do with the "bonus activites" maybe to make them more managable?

Like Pandora does "Part 1" Ganymede does "Part 2" of event Blah. Or to split people into teams for different activites.

That makes some sense, actually. I like that idea, because then we wouldn't all be doing the same stuff, which could get ridiculously repetitive. Plus, it would be more like a research "group", rather than a bunch of individual people doing the same crap over and over, ad nauseum.

I'm in Pandora, 0 points. Got a 52 without the cheat, but it seems that they've fixed it: Even with the cheat the 2nd time I took the test, the test automatically gave me a 52 instead of the 100 that the timer was at after completion Confused

I think this happened to me as well at some point. Clear your cache and your cookies and try the test again, using the cheat if you want to get 99.

Yeah, it is NOT "fixed". You can still cheat....just tried it again. They wouldn't "fix" something they WANT you to do.

@ Sassy

Maybe I missed something that led to the idea that they "want" people to cheat but that definitely brings up some very real possibilities. What if the fact that it's so easy to cheat is actually part of the game's design? What if the only way to actually be chosen as a part of Dharma is to show either your vast resourcefulness or superior moral fiber?

Exactly. I believe the first indication we had that it was by design was when people started decompiling the flash code for the site, and discovered that there were comments within the code detailing in plain, obvious terms, how to "cheat"(my words, not theirs).

We came to the conclusion that this was a heads up to the players, because the first thing that the code-savvy players will do is decompile the flash files to look for clues(similar in effect to looking at the source code of a web page for clues and cyphers in the commented areas, just a bit more complicated), and Hoodlum(the PM's) certainly knew this.

Add to that the fact that the "feature" has not been patched since we discovered it, it soon became obvious that this is not really a cheat, and us continuing to call it that may be leading to your confusion.

I hope I have answered any questions you might have had. Wink

I'm in Pandora group. Fair game was 86%, cheat game was 99% and 10 Dharma points (I invited a friend).

And I asked Dan about Pandora group. My question was

Quote:
Have you heard about Pandora Group in Dharma Testing?
The thing is, somebody figured out, there is kinda cheat in the test01
on there homepage. And actually it isn't a cheat, but it seems to be
the test. So I used this test and I am now in Pandora group. Have you
some ideas, what does it mean? (Besides that myth about Pandora
opening her catastrophic box, compared to people who used the cheat).

And his not so very friendly answer was

Quote:
you should not have cheated. Re-read the story of Pandora, and how you should resist opening the box (using the cheat)

your for it now !

So since Dan seems to be IG character, at least he approves the correlation between cheats and Pandora group choice. So either he is right and Pandora group has this correlation to cheat, or he is wrong and want to irritate us.

Who is "Dan", again?

I don't think there is a correlation between those that use the cheat and those that don't, because I used the cheat to get 99% and am in Ganymede group. So, maybe this guy *is* pulling your chain?

Dan Bronsen, the fatty who is known as RuckusGuy, who showed us the bluetooth Dharma video and showed Pierre Chang's thingy.

Here are some informations about Dan: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Dan_Bronson

I suppose, he is ingame character. And I also doubt, whether there is such correlation... I was just wondering about this email of Dan.

UPDATE And interesting thoughts about Dan... Perhaps he isn't such innocent as he pretend to be...

Hmm, interesting. I'm guessing you contacted Dan through the Facebook page?

Yes, I found him at Facebook. I just hope, it isn't a gamejack. (He has Charles Widmore also as friend, and in this case I doubt, if it's real profile of Widmore - if we can say "real" about IG character Smile)

Dan Bronson and RuckusGuy have not been confirmed as the same person. As far as I know, at no point has a message from RG stated that he was DB, nor has DB stated that he was RG. This is assumed to be the case because both the bluetooth 'hack' and the Chang video happened at Comic-Com.
I think that they may be two separate people. DB has had a very large (forgive the pun Wink ) public appearance and "has been expelled from the volunteer program and had his Dharma Initiative membership permanently revoked." While RG is still veiled , speaking only through source code messages. With RG being 'on the inside', he would want to remain incognito. So, I highly doubt that that they are one in the same.

Pandora here, 78% without the cheat, no Dharma points.

Of course my brain is running along the lines of "don't push the button" - "don't open the hatch" - "don't open the box."

The groups could simply be a piece of data from our profiles--the first that comes to mind would be male/female since the mythical Ganymede and Pandora are of opposite gender. Alternatively, if the groups are a red herring and they want it to look random, it could be something really obscure (i.e.- the 11th digit in your card number is even/odd).

Would've been cooler if it matched up to cheating or not cheating, IMO. The mythic Pandora is responsible for unleashing all the evils of mankind, and Ganymede is a victim of his own beauty and innocence... paints a nice ambiguous picture of morality, no?
