Attached was a song file named my sojd87yhfbcn 78YHNBUJ hybnm_.mp3 Maybe 78YHNBUJ is the password? Seems strange that its separated from everything else.

Either that or it could be "Maybe" (the name of the song she sung to us...or started to sing, at least).

"maybe"
"hybnm" - an anagram?
where the a and the e are substituted for the n and h?
So, possibly, using this 78YHNBUJ, and re substituting the letters - 78YEABUJ.

or is we map the two words together.
78AMBUJ..
hmm...

It is indeed Pancito - Maybe try the dir' objective to run DAVID?

Now that I think about it, it's a bit weird if this is a DOS-like command structure. It's like there was a CD.. command (up one level) before the DIR. Either that or the structure looks like:

C:\GRACIE\
>>>C:\GRACIE\
>>>C:\ANGLEVINE\
>>>C:\GUILT\
>>>C:\DAVID\

I.e. with all that other stuff under C:\GRACIE\, including another directory called GRACIE. Or it's just showing us the home directory too. And it's only showing directories, not files. But yeah, I'll try a DIR C:\DAVID\ and see what it buys us.

I'm assuming these are choices... As in, which direction the ARG goes in next.

Do we get the AnglevineUnited angle? Do we get tossed back to Gracie? Do we do it wrong, play guilt and feel bad or do we meet David?

just sent an email off to gracie with the following commands:

ttaberSPLATgmail.com

CD C:\DAVID\

DIR

hopefully she'll (or it) will accept multiple dos commands. assuming it works we should go ahead and get a full directory listing of all the directories just to see what's out there.

BTW... I'm out of retirement for any urchins still left out there...

If DOS is in use, might want to try a few of the following commands:

TYPE AUTOEXEC.BAT

VOL

CHCP

DATE

VER

It's worth trying but I don't see any information that those commands could generate that we don't already know.

VOL would just tell us drive label and serial number about the only drive we know about (C:\)

CHCP is for activating code page numbers and has a SLEW of prereqs that have to be preloaded in order to work

DATE might be useful in that we would pin down an exact date. Assuming of course that the date itself is different and not just the year

VER would just tell us what version of "DOS" that this system is using

I don't believe we're going to have to have a working knowledge of DOS in order to make it through this game. I believe that this part just requires the most basic knowledge of commands in order navigate through the directory structure to find additional info to get this game kick started into gear.

that's just my personal email

from reading the previous posts i was under the impression that the system needed a username in order to login

I'm pretty sure that Gracie wanted us to take the /guilt/ route (because of her email), however I think the best option is to see which folders are/are not password protected. It seems like we're all "working" through the same terminal right now - what happens if we pick the wrong password? We could do some unintended damage.

If they all need a password...I still think that the song title is involved for the C:/guilt. Not sure about the others ATM.

Also... doesn't seem like much of a lead but the coat of arms from the AU image is that of the Lord Alderdice.

If you're itching for swag you can buy a shirt of the CoA HERE

[EDIT] Maybe Alderdice as a password...?[/EDIT]

I have confirmed "Maybe" isn't the password.

I emailed

Quote:
REMOTE ACCESS MASTER PASSWORD. > . . . MAYBE

And got back

Quote:
LOADING . . . . .. . . .

RUNNING C:\GRACIE\STARTUP.EXE +PHASETWO STARTUP.EXE EXECUTED

STARTUP.EXE . . . PUSH ANY KEY TO CONTINUE

RUNNING C:\GRACIE\EMAILCLIENT.EXE +PHASE TWO

EMAILCLIENT.EXE EXECUTED

ERROR: INCORRECT REMOTE ACCESS PASSWORD

TERMINATING EMAILCLIENT.EXE TERMINATING STARTUP.EXE

C:\ . . . . . .

So I've just emailed back.

Quote:
REMOTE ACCESS MASTER PASSWORD. > . . . DAVID
