Another question i forgot to put is, how did the U.S. Goverment know this whole chimeran thing beforehand?

Totally. I'm definitely not dogging them. I've loved the game so far and even if I hadn't, wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm just hoping maybe they'll hire me to proofread and stuff! Laughing

Right when I read the headline of the death article and saw the date, I thought maybe it was on purpose - like they'd faked his death, but were keeping him captive - but they found his body and though his lower half of his body was all torn up, there doesn't seem to be any doubt that it's him. Also, the dates all line up nicely a few days after each other (if you change that 50 to 47).

Portals

I don't think they're going to be Portals. There's been nothing like that in the first game - no weapons or gadgets that warp (although the Auger shoots through walls). And judging by the huge fleet we've seen laying waste to San Fran, it doesn't seem like they really need a portal to bring in more troops. Their troops seem home-grown: most of the enemies were made from captured & infected humans - which I think is why they're called hybrids. But then they said the metal on the engine they found wasn't like anything found on earth.

Anyway, to me, portals just don't feel like they fit in Resistance.

*cries* WAH I've been trying to forget about that portal spoiler.... Now you've just reminded me... I want to know the story of R2 when it's released, not from a chart that is becoming more accurate as more information is released Sad

Hey nobody said the portal is part of the story, just a theory!Laughing

but I agree with grunj, portals don't seem very resistance, but this is insomniac games...Laughing

But the towers, to me, seem like the obvious thing that is important for the chimeran purpose. What do you think they're used for, grunj?

[EDIT]

Just found this....
SPLICER FOOTAGE!!!!

No, I don't mean the theory. In one of these posts somewhere in here, a link to a major spoiler was posted - it was a chart detailing all the missions in R2.

Fortunately, I only remember a few things about it now, and I'm not planning on looking at it again.

EDIT: Awesome Splicer footage!

Well, in the beginning when the terminal was discovered, there was a command for get diseasecontrol, which described a chimera quarantine, not to mention, that not the qurantine has failed, and to turn to plan b. Not only that, but also the skeletal remains that were found within pieces of spacecrafts.

There is that, but they've known about it long before then...

...possibly further back than when the miners discovered the tower in Nevada? Because they just went ahead and covered that up, so they've known it before the Nevada episode.

I didn't think about that, hmmmm. As far as the towers are concerned, don't they serve as a powergrid of sorts? Also I think they are definatley being used to cool the planet, look what they did to London.

Yeah but the towers, i think, have a bigger purpose. Not just to cool the planet, but something else. The narration in the "twisted history" video on eurogamer last week said, so far, the towers purpose is unknown. So it has to be something more, what else could they be powering. It'll be pointless to return to earth just for the sake of living there while you've been living on another planet for millions of years.

Think BESIDES what you know about the towers already.

Epic! Global Warming in reverse. Al Gore would be proud if he was alive at the time.

Embarassed But because of the butterfly effect, something as drastic as say...an alien invasion would most likely cancel out his existence.

Node4b7

Yeah, I suspected this, but just checked on my home computer now that I'm off work and yes, I can't run node4b7 either. While I was working through the Node4b7 puzzle I noticed that A) sometimes the percentage complete would jump by 8 or 9 percent with each one that I solved but sometimes would only be like 1 percent which B) corresponded to how fast I solved each one, a fast solve yielded a smaller percentage, C) it was at 11% when I started and D) on the forums we all seemed to get sequentially further percentage-wise at the same time, and D) now Node4b7 is down all of which leads me to believe that this was a community puzzle that was a one-time-only solve - there were a couple thousand different ones and we were all working together to complete them all at which point SRPA crashed & rebooted (and possibly all the different sites got torched, raided, shut down, etc.), which then triggered the phone call.

Sucks that you aren't able to do the puzzle if you missed it, but gives me a very cool sense of teamwork.

Spec Trout, that was pretty much suggested during the puzzle or beforehand, I remember seeing a lot of mention of that.
