Aug 27- New YouTube video from John

John has posted a new YouTube video.

He draws the symbol for us, thanks us for our help, and gives us his e-mail- cibac0daSPLAThotmail.com (that's a zero in c0da). He's apparently not sleeping or eating well, thanks to this, and would like help discovering the origin of the symbol.

Sent my email with this link http://www.purplehell.com/riddletools/alchemy.htm

I ♥ purplehell BTW

Edit: Been having conversation with John via email. He said he didn't see anything in the alchemical symbols that reminded him of the dream symbol and he said he got the feeling that he has seen it before somewhere. He also said he suddenly has a bad feeling in his stomach.

I asked him what foreign language he took in school and asked if was more a feeling of deja vu.

I took four years of French (although I barely speak fluently). It's more like a deja vu feeling, like you said I guess. It's like one of those "tip of your tongue" things but just never comes.

John

I suggested that he look through some old photos to help jog his memory since it may have something to do with his past.

I also e-mailed him, with a link to this -

http://www.blissymbolics.us/dictionary/

I don't know if anybody if familiar with blissymbolics, but it's an ideographic writing system, based on some key symbols that can be modifed and added together to create new vocabulary. I can't find anything that exactly corresponds to John's symbol, but I'm still looking.

It's pretty cool, if nothing else.

Does anyone think that we should just let John know that we've seen that symbol before, and show him the page from the Albany drop?
Maybe it will help to "wake" him up.

I think we should stick with just befriending him for now. I've been emailing with him and I tried subtly bringing up the whole BIRTH BY SLEEP thing and he kind of acted like he didn't know what I was talking about.

He did admit to me that he has insomnia. I get the impression that it is chronic insomnia and that he may have had it for a while.

Damn I hate insomnia.

What was that quote from the movie Fight Club.. When you have insomnia, you're never really asleep, and you're never really awake. Something like that I think. I noticed that in the video descriptions in one of your videos the capital letters spell out BIRTH BY SLEEP. Did you even notice you did that?

John's Reply

Yeah. Insomnia feels like an in-between, kinda limbo place where you want to sleep, but then again don't want to or are unable. Which video are you talking about? I don't see anything.

Rest well,
J

This brings up a lot of speculation for me. I'd like to wait until I see the contents of the recovered package before I jump to anything, though.

I'm not expecting any replies though since he leaves for Champlain early in the morning. I did however receive most of these emails after 1 AM Eastern.

So I just finally watched all his videos. Very interesting, seems him and all his friends started makin videos around 2 months ago. I havent finished watching his friends' videos but there may be something in them, anyone bother checking them out?

Also while his older videos dont have much, if anything to do with the ARG, and it seems like they were made just to make it look like a true, real youtube account of a real person, I have noticed that he comments about getting sicker as the videos go on, or showing signs of sickness. Also he talks about technology and how he wants to be able to shape it, and it seems like hes going to say something of some importance in 2 instances but both times is interrupted by his mother.
The 3rd to last video i believe he mentions that he has dug a giant hole for no reason but doesnt really want to bring the camera out there to film it, he doesnt want to bring the technology "out there," like it may be harming it or something.

maybe this mean nothing and maybe I missed some even more in depth info in his past videos, and perhaps this has been brought up and i somehow missed it. Just wanted to share my thoughts though, just in case.

btw I feel like people are giving up on this ARG which saddens me since it really feels like the story is just beginning to break, and there is more and more increased real life interaction which is awesome in an ARG. Hope it goes on!

Not giving up - this has rich backstory and great potential/interaction. I'm just not "interacting" cause I will be out of touch for a couple of weeks soon so I don't want to leave anyone in the lurch.

However, should anything show up in Las Vegas ("New Vegas" maybe), I'm on top of it!
