My bad, you're right magnetO. Its number 21. So then my question would be

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Am I actually looking for a mathmatical solution between the start and end date? Or is this less math and more trickery?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There's isn't really math involved. If you had the Trolls one, it's exactly the same principle.

Damn, I lost two IP's on #22 because:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
when I read the bold word "read" outside of the context I was pronouncing it in present tense, thereby changing the word. When I re-read it and realized it was past tense it was so obvious why I got it wrong. Dang it.

Q22

OK, I'm doing something wrong...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Bold text reads: Night We'd To Read
so I click: Knight, Ring, Cup with II, Red Square
and that's not right.

So what am I doing wrong here?

[EDIT]nevermind...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We'd == weed, I read it as "Wed"... duh

Q23 is up, apparently this question along with the next 6 all tie together.

General thoughts so far:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
'Five art masterpieces are missing' - presumably these masterpieces are the answers to the first 5 questions, with the sixth tying them all together somehow. Art is vague and doesn't mean just paintings as i initially thought, sculpture, dance, music, literature, architecture, theatre and painting constitute the various arts.

Question specific thoughts:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'm assuming we all get different questions once again. Mine is a note left under a piece of paper. The note reads (and this is my interpretation of it) 663334999 010111. The 0's have an equals sign (or a double underline underneath them). possibly binary, all the figures equal 23, the 0's would represent 8 and 32. The first set of numbers are hard to read, the 3's could be a 7, the 4 could be a 5. Upside down they strike me as equally legible, the 3's (7's) being an english pound sign. I tried turning the digits into numbers as on a standard mobile phone, the best i could get was 'Mode dizzy'. I tried listening to the keytones - nothing rings any bells.

This may or may not spur someone on, either way i think it's helpful to get my initial thoughts down.

I have really got to start paying attention. The question refers to the next 6 questions and something about '7 left you five clues'. So I click the button to see the next image. I think I got the same one as kie_yeo. Then, not paying any attention, thinking that there are more images to view, I click the button and...

lose .03 IP's.

Wow. Another difficult one. I thought we would get all 5 clues at once. The note is handwritten in a strange style. Magneto, I think what looks like a "7" is really an "I".

My numbers are different. 777877778222 01101101 and a little x under the first 0 and a little o under the other 0's. No thoughts so far. Oh, did you think it strange that after the title of Question 23 it said "Welcome to I-ICS"?

EDIT: I was trying to get my binary number converted (109) and found that there is a binary alphabet. My number translates to the lower case "m". However, you need 8 digits for the alphabet. Here's a link for it in case we need it in the future:

Darn trolls!!!

Ok, my algebra stinks...

I'm leaving my home to go to Grandma's house. Unfortunately, there are 9 bridges with a troll under each bridge. The trolls demand 1/2 for the cakes I have on my person but give back 1 cake (nice of them to complicate my math). How many do I need at the begining of my trip to be able to give Granny 2 cakes at the end of the trip?

What I have is:
2=(.5x+1)^9 ^ means "to the power of"
What is x?

It has been 20 years since college algebra.

Please, don't just give me the answer, show me the math *blink, blink, blink* (terrible flashback to high school!)

Mavado,
It's really a little simpler than that. Start at the end with how many you need to have. Then work backwards. It should come to you.

So i figured out how to upload images. Go me.

See how random the 4 is, the debatable 3's/7's, the 9's that curve down past the baseline, and the swirly 6's. The 0's and 1's look fairly standard. I'd be interested to see anybody elses.

Kie, can't see your picture yet, but I'll post mine soon. I noticed that the phone looks like it's on a piano with the piano hinge behind it. The numbers on my note are written on what looks like a music scale. This might be a clue.

Kie, are you using a photo hosting site like www.photobucket.com ?

Your math is actually terribly flawed.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

if:
s = # of starting cakes
e = # of ending cakes
then:
e = ([([([([([([([([([s/2] + 1) / 2] + 1) / 2] + 1) / 2] + 1) / 2] + 1) / 2] + 1) / 2] + 1) / 2] + 1) / 2] + 1)
or
e = 1/512s + 1 255/256

since e = 2:
2 = 1/512s + 1 255/256
2-1 255/256 = 1/512s
1/256 = 1/512s
s = 512/1 * 1/256
s = 2

Using what you wrote, you'd end up with some crazy ax^9 + bx^8 + cx^7 ... + y = z equation.

But yeah, seriously, you could have just worked backward.

That was great, Ill-Man. I love math.

Here is my image of Q23:

The numbers are definitely 777877778222

I wasn't, but i am now Screwy Lets try again

The music comment would fit with the arts theme and i think you're probably right. I've got 3 (bars?/chords?), and you've got 4. Music never was my strong point Confused

EDIT - Would someone be a kind soul and explain to an idiot how to upload images. Thankyou muchly.
