The cards don't neccessarily have to be part of the Tarot deck. They are just standard French cards. Most Americans are used to the Bicycle style poker cards. There is no indicator that the cards are associated with the Tarot trumps.

I think that the key here is the clue 'Card Tricks'. That would be a reason to associate Tarot with the cards, but why show only 5 cards and no trumps? I have already tried the names of a few trick-taking games and have been unsuccessful (at .05 per pop).

I did the same thing and I'm glad they finally reset the scores. You're right about the deck. I've sent a message to them about posting a clue.

Q36

All I see is a REALLY bad poker hand. Has anybody tried FOLD as an answer?

Q-36

A book: The Castle of Crossed Destinies by Italo Calvino is about mute people telling short stories with Tarot Cards. Did not see a story relating to this set...obviously not a best seller.

Q36

I received a reply from WIQ:

Question 36 was designed without a hint. On a closer look at the question we decided to lower the penalty from 0.05 to 0.01.We are currently studying the possibility of adding a hint, but no sooner than next Monday (if nobody advanced until then).
Best regards,
WIQ

We must be missing something fairly obvious.

 still stuck on 18

hello - i'm new here so please forgive me if i break any rules!
you seem to be the only people on the web playing this game and despite reading all your posts i'm still stuck.
i have broken the numbers down into sets and then tried to apply the instructions from the second line. i end up with four letters but no matter how i input them i cannot get the right answer!
my numbers are

322 136187116158116151 2848 4150233726

beginning { > 5{ ^ < { ? 2> 4{

this gave me 136 187 116 158 116 151 x 28 48 x 41 50 23 37 26

i think this then becomes
delete 136
move forward to 187
delete 116 158 116 151 x
jump to the end
move back one to 37 and delete 37
jump back to the beginning and move forward two to 28
delete 28 8 x 41

leaving me with 187 50 23 26

from the text this gives me p i n s which is not the right answer!

i'd be really grateful if somebody could show me where i'm going wrong before my head explodes!

thankyou Smile

Hello, flossie. Welcome to the WIQ discussion!

I don't have my notes with me right now, but it's really easy to get the counting wrong. Try it like this. I apologize if this doesn't work out.

Delete 136. Move forward to 187.
Delete 187, 116, 158, 116, 151.
Move to very end. Back up to 26 and delete it.
Move to beginning which is the space.
Move forward 2 to 48.
Delete 48, x, 41, 50.
This leaves 28, 23, 37. Does that spell anything?

Yea Flossie!!

Welcome to the official, unofficial unFiction forum on World of IQ. Damnned challenging stuff.

I think you are OK on your counting except for the last letter. Try using 37 for your last letter instead of using 26. Q18 really kicked us all for a little while.

Adventurik, good job on getting some more input from B. Really talented character there. My only other observations are that the cards are all odd with the 7 missing, spades in twice, no apparent pattern to the order presented (yet). I did notice that the jpg name for the ace is 'one' perhaps we are looking in the wrong place, again.

Mavado, I'm really glad they changed the penalty rates and reset us because I tried 'fold', 'thishandsucks', and 'ilostallmymoney'.

Smile

[EDIT] 7 and Jack are missing from Q36. I was drinking a Jack & 7 when I wrote that.

q18

thanks guys for trying to help.
the first solution gave 'one' which didnt work, the second 'pine' which also didn't work.
i have also tried pins, fops, mrfd, pons, pens, pods, hods, iwen, wine, and various combinations of these sets.
not sure if it's following the instructions or counting letters where i am going wrong but nothing is happening!
i think i need to take a break and then start again from scratch.
thanks again for trying to help. Smile

Yes, I was slightly off. I refigured it to 187, 28, 23, 37.

YW! Always happy to help.

Looking at the cards, taking the R as 13 in numerical rank:
Numerically we have 3 plus 10 minus 12 plus 4 plus 4.
Also numerically, we have prime numbers until the 9, but all odd.
Color-wise we have black-red-red-black-black.
By suits we have spades, hearts, diamonds, spades, clubs.

Thinking we might need to name the next card in the series,
I tried 7 diamonds, but it was wrong. Can anyone figure another
next card?

Q-36

Following Adventurik's thinking, we have 1 black card, then 2 red cards, so we might need 3 black cards next of which we have two of them. I added up the black totals 3+5+9=17 and subtracted the red value 13+1=14. Leaving me with 3. But '3 spades' and '3 clubs' are WRONG. Sometime 'face cards' are valued at 10, but I suspect not here.
