Great News!!

There are 781 users now involved in WIQ.

378 from Indonesia.

One month later....almost 1300!
and I'd guess over 60% Indonesia.
Welcome all.

Hey all!

Can anyone give us a hint-hint on Question 6 (Math Time!)? I've been at it for two days and I'm making no headway. I know it's gonna be really obvious and I'm gonna have to face-palm myself, but what the hey.

Hi ~Chris

I suspect the lack of response is more to do with folks not being able to remember what Q6 was about... if you remind us what the question was, I'm sure someone will chime in...

[OK, maybe it's just me, I can't remember, but if you jog my memory I'll try and help!]

Oh, silly me. It's one of those maths ones.

Question 6
"Math Time!"

2 2 2 2 = 32 2 7 2 7 = 18
9 8 9 8 = 28 9 8 8 9 = 28
8 8 9 9 = 28 9 9 9 9 = 20
6 5 2 7 = 22 6 6 6 6 = 24

5 9 6 8 = ?

ahh, that one...

OK, faint ringing in the distance, so I'll have a go at nudging you in the right direction...

I think you're looking at two columns of sums...each sum has 4 numbers (terms) that are combined (from memory a single mathematical operation applied to all of them, and there's a clue in my phrasing of the nudge so far - I am being pretty blatant!) to provide the expected answer...

Now I think the answers are pretty plain (i.e. haven-t been fiddled with-technical term!) but you'll find that some of the terms don't quite work the way they should... and some may have been swapped around (which is what the hint alludes to... if memory serves)

...what I'd suggest is scribble them down on a piece of paper, and try and derive what the operations are (there's a clue in the fact that there are three 'ways' of getting to 28... which simplifies things...) then I think you will realise that you'll need to start reapplying values to the terms that look like numbers you recognise... simple substitution should work.... then apply that to the final question...

That should help, without spoiling your fun (I hope)

*bangs head on desk* silly, silly, silly!
Thanks for all of your help guys. I have another problem though, this time with #27. This involves the row of shapes and the row of letters (I won't say much more). I know I have the right answer (or at least Im on the right track), and I can PM it if it's necessary, but I was just wondering what form I have to submit it in. I have three numbers which I've taken from the info and I've tried every form I can think of. Heeeelp?

@FractalP
all you have to do now is to apply exactly the same method that you did to obtain these numbers with these three new numbers
(I just got it at this instant :p feel free to pm if you need)

Q26

Hey guys, I'm working on question 26 and I believe that I drew out the shape correctly...however, I can't tell what the shape is supposed to be. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: NM...I got it...kinda abstract

Q39

After reading through this forum, I've only found a couple posts dealing with question 39 and none of them really helped me in solving this one. A small hint would be great. Thanks.

EDIT: Figured it out.

Q43

Working my way up...I'm on the question with "AD" and a number;
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
733457. I saw someone's clue about counting days, so I found a date converter to add 733457 to 1/1/0000. This gave me a result of 02/21/3908
Am I doing this right? A small hint would be nice. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: NM again...onto 44

I must be a real idiot cause I can't figure out question 2. Numbers have never been my strong point.
