[META] Goodbye Lost Ring !

Current votes :
Pros : 4
Cons : 0

Suggestions :
- A slideshow of some of the photos of people running the labyrinths, and maybe one of the different omphalabyrinths around the world ?(elite.fencer)
- A Flickr with the best photos (Twolf)
- A profile in youtube or subdot, with the best videos and testimonials
from the players. (Twolf)
- DVD with memorable videos from The Lost Ring, players and characters alike (Konamouse/DavFlameRock)
- Video in Esperanto
- Memories book

So the quest for the Lost Ring is coming to an end soon, with the Olympic Games of Beijing at hand, hopefully marking the return of the 6 (and whoever will want to tag along) to their original world.

I've been wondering what to do to mark the end of this adventure with all of you for a few weeks : we have seen some pretty impressive feats since March and I'm sure there'll be more before everything is over, things definitely worth sharing and remembering.

So please let us know what you think and submit whatever idea you might have to celebrate the end of all this in the thread if you think such a project is worth it !

My shot :
- A video in Esperanto, featuring as many of the players as possible or
- A digital book of sorts, collating the adventures around the collection of the various artifacts of the quest for the Lost Ring, tips and tricks for Labyrinth running from top players...

Your turn !

Great ideas Thomas!

Can't wait to see the closing ceremony... I will get back to you if I think of anything else, but in the meantime it all sounds great!

The web pages and blog posts of our characters as well.

Heh, Kona--I could do that Razz

I dunno, my plan involved the podcast me and Hikaro were doing--well, ARE doing (I just have been gone and unable to continue working on it). Bascially like a storytelling through the whole thing, believing it was real... so I could share it with people... you know, sorta like what I'm doing with EE but way less ambitious.

I would love to make a DVD from this game--it definitely needs all the labyrinth running teams as they run on the 24th!

EDIT: Oh, and if we do that video in Esperanto you suggested, it should be like something where everybody films their "final thoughts" on the game, tips to labyrinth runners, their feelings on the Multiverse and the Lost Rings, ect. and then if they didn't speak in Esperanto it has Esperanto subtitles--so not everyone has to speak in English Razz

Mighty interesting suggestions, guys ! Adding them up to the list in the first post. Are you sure just one DVD will be enough though ? Wink

Great Idea !

I think in something too:

-A Flickr with the best photos
-A profile in youtube or subdot, with the best videos and testimonials
from the players.

Thanks for your suggestions, TWolf ! Added to the list.

Having a YouTube account for us to host the videos would be a good idea for those who'd only be interested in one or two videos, or show them to friends without having to pop out a DVD. We could always put up a DVD image with videos of better quality up for download through peer to peer networks for seeding/transferring ?

I don't understand too much of this way for downloads, but it's a nice idea too. We could make a Team for the organization of all this stuff.

Well from what I've seen, YouTube and Seero don't offer the image quality DVD video can offer. Plus with a DVD can come menus, extras, etc...All of which of course would need be discussed before even being taken into account, of course.

MauroKing : Thanks for your offer ! Any help would be appreciated.

Looks to me like this is going in the direction of making a DVD :p Now we need votes from more people.

I say all the promo videos with Eli and Ariadne as well as the Eli Hunt podcast would be a great start as a main DVD feature and then add in the various labby run videos culminating in the final run during the closing ceremonies. Then in a "DVD Bonus" section we incorporate the slide show ideas, as well as a rundown of the story from both sides including Theo uninitiation missions and oaths. Dav has put together some great stuff with the "capture" of James that could be included as well as some of the athlete's blog videos.

A bit overzealous on my part, but I would be more than willing to throw it all together. I'm a filmmaker so it'd be good practice for me to work with the various elements and compose a cogent DVD.

Maybe a 2 disker from both sides of the efforts, Aganothetai and Theo.

Sounds like the DVD is getting all the votes Wink
Cineball, your help would be greatly appreciated ! Especially for a project this size.

About your suggestion re. the promotional video : it's an interesting idea but don't you think there could be a problem with copyrights or diffusion rights for these ?
