This could be done with regular expression on a dictionary text file.

Let me see...something like .{4}(.{2}).{2}\1

That should do it if you know how to use regular expression....I think that should work anyways.

you lost me there...

but we could try basic substitution.

@BoonIsha, thank you, but I cannot really understand this system... How does it work?

Perhaps I found a dictionary, which can do the job for us - well perhaps:
http://www.onelook.com/

I can enter ????XY??XY and it gives me all the possibilities.
e.g. ????re??re
would mean:

1. concreture
2. disprepare

But: I have to put in the variables manually and It cannot provide only words, these variables don't repeat in another parts of this word...

@thebruce
It looks interesting! And if we look at this graph are left and right channels not really equal (perhaps because of stereo effects)?

I still heard 10 tones. The last two are masked a little bit by the reverb effect at the end.

Do you know a system, which allows to search for words with the same repeating letter strings, without knowing, which letters are variable?

I think what you are referring to is called brute force.

Oh, thanx! It's exactly what I mean. Perhaps there are some software for brute force (if the software could make all possible strings and than compare with existing words, even if the word list would be large, it could help, perhaps)

UPDATE. I fear, we need this thing: http://www.copacobana.org/gallery.html Smile

well, here's a mono map of the difference between the left and right channels (inverted the right and mixed the left)

The first image I posted was a a positive mix (left + right) this one's negative (left - right).

Not much difference between the two images (rather, not much the same between the two channels Razz) I'm thinking it's not a code; at least, not visually, as opposed to musically... *shrug*

OK, it looks like the hex in the comments is likely information used to normalize volume on the fly:
http://forums.ilounge.com/archive/index.php/t-180957.html
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7680514

Looking at the file in a hex editor, these tags are actually 'engiTunNORM' (iTunes normalization) tags.

So, no secret message in the hex comment.

In case anyone was wondering, the phone number given as tech support on the MD website is a real number. It sends you to voicemail. I left a message, so we'll see what happens.

is there a wiki for this? I'd love to know where we're so far(I didn't know there was a pre-viral!!) without having to wade through 21 pages of threads.

Thanks!

The FRINGEpedia is active but the Viral/ARG section needs serious work.

Strange behavior in flash animation on the Biological and Medical page.

The bouncing red ball turns to a pointer like you can click on it, but nothing happens. Anyone know enough about flash to open the file up in something and see if there is anything to this?

...well, just fyi, as this may duplicate a bit of content in some areas, I've checked around and can't find a resource that is specifically dedicated to the extended experience (though there are a couple fringe wikis that do contain viral subject matter and whatnot), so I'm setting up a wiki to help organize some stuff, specifically from the extended experience perspective... that is, linking to those other resources for show-related canon, information, etc. This'll be more for documenting and wiki-ing the online components (and there are already some blogs that are doing that as well, like the eastereggs blog for one).

I'll link when it's ready

OK, people, you can call me freak, you can call me global time waste dude,
but I used the http://www.onelook.com/ dictionary to find out all possible English words.

I know, perhaps MrToasty is fully right about it isn't a code anymore. But I begun to do it and I did it till end in the A-Z x A-Z matrix O-O

Here are nonsense xls-table with all the results.

And here are all results I had.
I run it through the formel like
????XY??XY

but I haven't time and power to look for
1234XY56XY where another letters don't repeat, so many of these results are waste of time. Perhaps the whole. But I spam here and sorry for it Smile Just didn't want to throw away the results for which I threw away my time Smile

I'll never do brute force manually again Smile
You can call it time waste, if you want.

Stock Ticker

All the companies listed are performing exceedingly well...so much so that I was skeptical of how far this game went (ie, did the PMs create these companies and then extend to Yahoo finance the chance to participate). But after further research (and a few stock purchases - thank you thinkorswim) they all seem legit, except two:

ABEF is not a known symbol. Nor is AARS. And of course, MD is fake, but that's obvious.

Dunno if that means anything, but it was interesting to note.

Also, for what it's worth, as I was watching last night, I kept thinking that the placement of the dots on the screen corresponded to a clock face and perhaps a number.

Just my two cents. I have to watch myself, Cloverfield consumed my life and nearly caused me to crash my car once.

Cool! Welcome in club, dear Cloverfieldianer Smile
And take care - ARGs are sometimes kind of dangerous Smile

But were you OK with the car?
