One small item. In the properties of the mp3 the title is listed as 'crossover2.' I can't make anything of the sound itself and don't have the patience to try right now. I'm waiting for #3...

There is some pattern to the static, but nothing I've made out yet. Thought morse at first, but not quite.

I ran the mp3 file through a Spectrogram, but couldn't find anything. I used this program: http://www.visualizationsoftware.com/gram.html

Tried to speed up the mp3 file, but couldn't hear anything that sounded like a clue. There is something that sounds like a voice between 30-60 seconds, but I'm not sure if I'm hearing things or if it is just the vocal of the song that has been time stretched. Have no idea what the song is at the start. I'm out of ideas now.

Well I had a poke about at it in audacity, put on a few filters to remove the static and I still cant make out anything particularly tangible. There is definitely something after the gregorian chanting but....

I was not one of the lucky ones to recieve an email but the 'stare into us' kind of makes me think of one of those pictures where you have to stare through it then slowly move back without breaking concentration and a picture will finally form.

Edit:/ Nvm I thought you guys said the file was a video file w/ snowy static and the noise.

Does sound like white noise to me... I'm kinda picking up music in the beginning and the middle as well as creepy crap. Kinda sounded like Pink Floyd @ the beginning [don't think it was though]

Very interesting.
