Just sent in my cure guess. I posted it over on the IG forum too.
Quote:
Audrey is genetically immune to the blindness. Her DNA could be studied to find the gene that causes the immunity, and the nature of the immunity could be replicated. If, for example, Audrey's gene produced a chemical compound that prevented the effects of the blindness, that compound could be synthetically replicated and distributed.

I am writing to submit my idea for the cure.
The blindness is caused by a virus. The patient Audrey Plainview and her twin both have an immunity to the virus but are still carriers. Therfore they have a gene that supresses the infection in them. Using Gene Therapy you can isolate that unique gene that supresses the infection and create an antidote
I will post as soon as I hear anything
Crap! This is basically the same as mine... I was typing the e-mail when you posted this and didn't see it before I sent. Sorry!

What are we suppose to send back with the SASE?
Ticket stubs from the movie?
I thought of that yesterday and it made me laugh for a good 15 minutes.
That is brilliant. Makes me giggle too.
Knowing me I will wait for Netflix to get it.

If the glasses were it then i qould have been infected already. I was one of the first to send in a photo of me wearing them. I think they sent two with the intent of you giving one away to help promote as well etc.

Wouldn't the known universe implode if we did that?

Just re-read the rules of posting on the "parable of the blind " thread and
Quote:
If one or more of you should become infected, those persons will be confined in a second Quarantine Ward forum (http://iamblind.org/forums/quarantine) where they may post. The infected may communicate on the other forums through a proxy representative of their choosing
I am wondering if the infected should not post on the sounds forum because of the use of "forums". I know no warning has been sent but could explain why ppl other than lurkers and the ppl chosen because of wrong cures has been quarantined.

This is not an infection forum. This is a place away from the masses of The Ward that they may govern in a manner they see fit.
so no need for deleting..it does not matter who post there, it should make it easier to communicate..

Evenly--I wouldn't tell you what to do and virally speaking it would already be too late. Yet clairnoir's point is valid as The Moderator also says on the Attention, Attention thread of the Quarantine forum.

submitting my idea of conjunctivitis and having the blind stop wearing the glasses in order to contract the conjunctivitis and counteract the parasitic infection causing blindness.

here's what I sent, I'll post a copy up on the IG forums as well...
Quote:
The blindness seems to be spreading through a parasitic infection that's affecting the normal activity of the pupils. When studying pictures obtained from the Gold Ward, where Audrey's sister (also immune) is depicted with red eyes, it seem she may have conjunctivitis. By having blind Ward members wear the protective glasses, it's unlikely that might contract conjunctivitis themselves. It's my belief that conjunctivitis present in Audrey's sister (and likely Audrey through close contact before separation) is the reason behind their immunity to the White Sickness. Conjunctivitis may counteract the parasitic elements in the eye and help the blind see again. Afterward, simple treatment for conjunctivitis would present any serious effects it might cause in the long term.
