Thanks for the map claire. I don't really see a pattern right now, but I have a feeling that maps might be a part of this game. Also, just from the trailer of the movie, it looks like the white blindness is contagious, which would also hint to geographical significance.

"help me see you"

"help me see you" is the name of the last thread on the iamblind.org forum, created by user bemily. I guess that could be related to them wanting our mailing addresses - see where we are. Other hypothethis could be they want us to do a map with our locations.

On another note, why did bemily receive this email? She seems not to be connected with the ARG world and didn't send 1003SPLATiamblind.org and email... I evan began to think she could be a character, but then she aknowledges unfiction so I guess not. Bemily, if you're reading this, can you think of any idea why you received this email?

This one tells me that this IP address was used in the past for these other websites:
godstilllovesus.org
k2aorange.com
This is no guarantee that the same people are behind iamblind.org

I've been poking around with the headers of various emails I've received from iamblind today, and all of the automated account emails for the iamblind forums are being directed through godstilllovesus.org mail servers.

Considering godstilllovesus turned out to be a promo for I Am Legend, this lends credence to the idea that iamblind is a short ARG for Blindness.[/i]

Welcome jigsawjones. I've read the book and am 100% sure this is for Blindness, which is due out on 10/03 (1003 being the identity for mail to iamblind.org). The trailer is quite specific so I think we can move past speculation now. Smile

To anyone who doesn't know, the IG forums are up and running, and I must say, quite active! Come join us, it is quite laborious to try and stay organized across two forums...

Col, it's perfectly fine to continue posting here exclusively or to post here mostly and just respond to IG characters on that forum. I think this is generally more user friendly. Anything that's of significance will be posted here in any case. It's just a personal preference, so please don't feel obligated to cross post if you don't want to do so.

True enough tresbien... That makes sense...
[edit] woah, I didn't notice that you had like 570 posts here... truth be told, I am a bit of a noobie to ARGs

i got that same email about a shipment, and the only interaction i've had with any ig characters is signing up to the forums. did everyone who signed up get that e-mail? at least we g-mailers can breathe a sigh of relief and know that even though outgoing e-mails are bouncing, incoming is working.

any way to differentiate ig characters from argers on the ig forum?

a shipment to mean indicates actual physical snail mail... maybe i'm wrong. no address info has ever come from me to them.

good work on finding the link between the i am legend game and this

also in a sidenote/noob question:

are forums in games typically responded to out of game? as in, is there an 'unspoken rule' or etiquette to args and interaction with characters, etc?

i tried finding a sort of FAQ section or something but no luck, if anyone has a link that might help this new arger feel free to share.

thanks

ok, since the map idea seemed good to me, I went ahead and created a google map and posted it on a new topic in the forum. I'm hoping everyone of the 31 ppl on the board can post their location and user name (from the in game board *mine is myopic*) as the title for a placemarker

hopefully hoaxers and hijackers won't start posting as ig characters. even if this doesn't necessarily further the game, i must admit it'd be fun to see how widespread the arg community is across the u.s. and maybe even find that there are some players closer to me than i'd think. It would also be a nice little wink (no pun intended) to the PMs with their google pupil map.

I REALLY like the idea posed on the <0> topic about the answer being a blindfold because of the contagious nature of this problem btw.

also I've e-mailed physical address to 1003SPLATiamblind.org today without a problem, no bounce back! so if there is a shipment, hopefully I can help too.

Efrain, I have little experience with ARGs but from what I know, tipically we're not supposed to talk out of game things in in-game forums. Remember TINAG - This Is Not A Game so "in-game", we're not supposed to know about José Saramago's book for instance, or that there's a movie coming out named Blindness. On the other way, I know it's a bit difficult having two forums and monitoring all that - I kind of lost track in the Lost Ring when an in-game forum appeared. An in-game forum is fun, though! Maybe the more experienced ARGers can chime in on this also.

I think the IG/OOG line was broken when they began the i am blind website with all the info about the movie (my opinion as a player only).

Still No Reply

I'm getting a little concerned. I sent in my address 3-4 days ago, and it didn't bounce back, but still no response. I heard someone got a reply in 24 hours, how long did others wait?

Well Boomer I sent my address also and didn't get a response. I think only of minorities of senders received an email back from them (not the forum registration email, the first on with our mailing addresses).

Now we wait for the packages to arrive (and hope who's outside the US gets them too!)
