Since we are talking about numbers, what do you think about this sequence I wrote some days ago:

1 1 3 15 3 3 1 5

This is coming from the topics in the http://fox.com/fringe/ website
(1NFO - B1OS - BLOG R3CAPS - WATCH FULL EP15ODES & VIDEOS - GALL3RY - FEATUR3S - SHOW COMMUN1TY NEW5LETTER)

It looks a little bit like l33t-language, but perhaps there is more clues here?..

and about glowingmonkeys.com: they had really have some updates, which are many miscellaneous, but not really informative (compare it to boingboing.net for example). Anyway, all these weird behaviours of that blog make me ask myself, why Orci said, he was just impressed and inspirated by this blog after all. Wink

So I will follow this blog, since it could be pretty IG Smile

Ugh. I really thought we would see an update with the new episode. I wish SOMETHING would happen. Just give me a new page to look at or something.

Pen/Rose

At least we finally know the significance of this image...

Pen + Rose = Penrose

Perhaps we've gotten a clue in this episode that could perhaps foreshadow the next.

If anyone has already stated this, let me know and due credit will be given.

edit...

I've got to say that the Easter Egg portion of the Fringe Television site has pretty key screen shots that could give this "ARG" a tad more potential.

I was also curious about the website containing Penrose's bio at the Boston College.
Often shows will create websites just for computer screens, but I'm kinda hoping we'll see more of this kind of thing...

It seems more though like the 'hints' in each episode are more often than not foreshadowing content on the next episode(s), rather than being connected to the online component. At this point at least.

I wish they'd at least make the login box a little more believable by actually submitting the form, even if it still does nothing... linking right to an 'access denied' page is a little obvious. blah.

ETA: ooo voicesvideo.com whois says it's registered w/domainsbyproxy... a good sign... YET, creation date is April 2005. guh.
ETA2: also, Rubin Polizzi appears to be a real person, with numerous real-world hits via google...

ETA3: While vocesvideo.com has content, the domain was registered yesterday, and the content is all topical web ads... so, I'm thinking, someone nabbed the domain as soon as it was noticed on the show =P

incidentally, the decoding of optic nerve signals to images is real science

link to cached version of a BBC Sci/Tech article "Looking through cats' eyes ".

is what I'm thinking of but im sure you could track down better stuff since 1999.

oh and year it comes out upside-down so JJ has read the paper.

And no it doesn't involve lasers.

edited to replace long url with a link. ~drizjr

I don't know if we should assume Voces means voices.. but something came to my mind watching it. The font on the sign was written in a font called Earwig Factory, in purple. This is the same font/color scheme as glowingmonkeys, which I still haven't ruled as oog in my own book.

An interesting episode, but with few kloos that I noticed.

Oh, a very conspicuous anomaly: when Olivia was talking with Nina again, Nina mentioned that her hands get sweaty on airplane takeoffs. Besides being another airplane/fright reference in a JJ Abrams show, we know that Nina only has one hand. I don't know, it just struck me as really odd and it stuck out to me.

EDIT: http://vocesvideo.com/
follows our pattern of godaddy/domainsbyproxy

EDIT: From the source: fringe lost abrams tunnel chunnel charnel flense

EDIT:
chunnel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Channel_Tunnel
charnel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charnel_house
and flense is a verb. It means to remove the skin/blubber from a whale. wtf.

ok... well, while everyone on vocesvideo.com could easily have been made by a squatter after the fact, the point you noticed about the font being similar is quite interesting...

the font on the sign isn't exactly the same as on GlowingMonkeys.com, but it certainly is the same style.........

ETA: here's a comparison (edited, obviously)

Yeah vocesvideo.com looks to me like a gamejack. I doubt that PMs would put such blatant meta tags. Who knows, though.

. wtf.

I'm fairly certain she said "hand" not "hands". I'll go watch that part of the episode again.

Edit: Confirmed. She says hand. She also looks at her real hand and gestures with it when she says it.

Hi guys. For my first post on this thread, and first ever on an ARG forum, I'd like to lay out a few concise points for your consideration

Preamble dispensed, I'll start by throwing out on the table that the amount of extra-show media on the web is huge, and superb, but I'm led to believe that the break of any forward gaming is to be discovered a week/episode, or maybe even two, down the road. here's why:

1.) after reading catch-up on this and the related threads -- and btw, I'm fΦcking awestruck by the knowledge and individual expertise everyone's brought to the party -- it's apparent that all the puzzle pieces are in fact merely puzzle-like.

They're clever and engaging, but don't add up to anything actionable. Thus, people are scratching their heads.

Yet these elements are far too nuanced just to serve marketing purposes. And for one thing were so inaccessible to the non-playing/non-ARG-aware fanbase until after the pre-release and so close to the premiere that they don't really stand alone as just story supplements.

The people I work with look at cinema and marketing full-time. These are gross fans, and bright people too; quick-on-the-draw types. And they don't see any of this, which is ridiculous considering how close it is to the industry. These items would only be explored ('solved' feels inappropriate) by people looking for a game.

As in the show, there's a pattern being constructed outside in the small clues and tidbits, beyond the Fibonacci fallback. Everyone knows this, of course, but the question is: where to look?

The most glaring extra-show media is the MD website. Like other Abrams projects, the episodic plots are about par, while the real draw is the superb, overarching, connective storyline; in this case, the enigmatic Dr. Bell and the towering, mammoth MassiveDynamic entity.

How fitting, that the point in the episodes, so far, where we're given meat is across the street from the MD building, where, honestly they're laying it on pretty thick. Up til now, the only direct in-show shout outs to the community have happened here. GlowingMonkeys isn't IG yet, but if one considers the data, it simply doesn't exist independently from the show without several good questions accompanying it.

They followed this up with the Pen + Rose bit. Demonstrating what happens in-show in front of MD, the face and web-presence of the series outside of the episodes. This is their a way of defining a parameter, announcing one certain forum where important ideas will come across. There may be other clues throughout the episodes at some point, but this is the show saying:
"Frustrated? Out of ideas? Pulling your hair out over the initially promising, but ultimately go-nowhere would-be clues we keep dropping? Don't fret. Just stand outside the MassiveDynamic building each Tuesday (don't forget the website!), and we'll throw you a few bones"

I feel that the clues coming down the pipe from the outside-MD system will, in concert with existing articles, coalesce provide workable data.

Of particular importance, as everyone knows, are three glyphs.
It's been suggested on these forums that the twin fetuses in the apple are an allusion to Peter being a twin/clone. And Walter's inquiry about Peter's hypertension in the first episode lends credence to this.

With regard to the hand; postaxial ulnar hexadactyly, although often benign and representing a simple congenital defect, is indicative of serious mutagenesis. Of course, there are the stars in the sky of other hints suggesting a returning premise of genetic mutation/engineering central to the storyline.

I'm surprised though, that no one has talked much about THE LEAF, certainly the glyph given most face time.

The prominent triangle/Delta Δ on the leaf is a symbol of both the historical Illuminati and the fancied New World Order Illuminati, ever popular among conspiracy theorists on youTube

Remember the Illuminati, Dan Brown kids out there? The evil, disgruntled, underground society of persecuted, on-the-edge (fringe?) scientists? Science runaway with itself? Remember a few years ago? Angels and Demons? Even the DaVinci Code; ripe with Fibonacci devices and Illuminati and Masonic references.

I think this mechanism will prove central to the storyline, an ARG aspect specifically. And I foresee it being important with regard to the MD site whenever it becomes more lively.
GOD this is getting long. Well, that's my two cents.

ΦΦΦ Thus spake ChipsnDips Very Happy

writer's/fringe
who's watching who?

Cool

The writers of Fringe have said openly they are reading all the blogs. In fact they could be participating. So they could be getting ideas from us or planting clues as we speak.
