Early note: This post is probably really far fetched and possibly meaningless as all of the information contained in it is got by speculation and an assumption that hasn't been verified. But it's taking me down a road of investigation.

Trying to figure out a way to get more info on the "organization."
Going with the idea that "Stratum" might be involved.

Did a google search for Stratum Jacob Aaron and the first hit that seems like information is this site:

Reading it got me thinking about Catherine's dad's two first names: Jacob and Aaron.

Both Biblical figures had a run in with their respective brothers. Jacob was the younger brother of Esau(Jacob deceived his father to receive a blessing that Esau should have received. Jacob ends up becoming father to the 12 tribes of Israel), son of Issac, and grandson of Abraham.

Aaron was the brother of Moses. Aaron built the golden calf that some of the Hebrews worshipped when Moses was up on Mount Sinai getting the 10 Commandments.

The Zadokite Stratum deals with a line of Israelite priests who seem to be involved in some shifty stuff according to the wikipedia page on Zadok.

The cats also suggest Egyptian stuff? Eh? Seems really off base but I'm going for anything here.


Also, Jacob is the great-great-grandfather of Aaron. One of Jacob's 12 sons is named Joseph (of the technicolor dream coat fame)...This Joseph was sold into slavery by one of his brothers and went to work as a dream interpreter for the Egyptian Pharoah.

hah! ok I don't know why I didn't think of this... i was scouring domain registrations with "stratum" in it... saw the terminal picture with the s9_client words and whatnot and though - "geez, like we're supposed to figure out what S9 stands for"

He's going by "Olin". I tested the waters a bit by coming off a bit accusatory, or distrustful initially, given the info we've got (and kind of thinking he was dumb for being anonymous but using a 'real' name)... his response

Well, the French ruler that followed Napoleon (if you don't count Napoleon II, who only ruled for 15 days) was Louis XVIII. A possibility, I suppose.

I love the trick with the map on the site. Would be better is it actually showed where i lived rather than the other side of the country though. But i am still impressed, nice touch.

Perhaps we should compile a list of potential passwords to try within that 3 hour period...

themes to consider:
* French generals
* Emperors of France
* September birthdays
* Exiles
* Last names of real people on whom movie spoofs have been based on (Napolean Dynamite? =P)

re: the map
everyone has an IP when connected to the net. The best a standard tracker can do is locate your IP, which is granted by your ISP, or through Proxy. If your location is on the other side of the country, chances are it can't determine a more accurate location via your connection route. I'm at work and my hit is in Guelph, where our ISP is located (not where my office is located ).

Maybe if the anonymous person knew the password for the month before last, that could help us narrow down what sort of a word we're looking for this month? If Olin is feeling that helpful, obviously.
