 The NOTE easy reading version
Transcription of the note Found by thebruce

Quote:

it has been a long time since we
traveled down from Trimountaine

There is money to be made here. The
question is whether to settle a village or divide the (land??) tall crops have
struggled against the wind here, but
fishing and hunting are succeding
well.

We have opened a port and sent word.
It will take some time, but there is
yet hope of pulling trade down from
Boston

The next thing we must do is name
the area. The meeting of elders is a
likely time for this to take place,
provided the demons of revelary do
not steal the tongues of our men.

EDITED: Names changed as per suggestions, Thanks Rose and Tresbian I wasnt sure bout them myself , but thats why we can edit Very Happy

About the transcription: Thanks for doing that! I can't read it all very well but..

I don't think the first sentence ends with Mountains, Inmountaine? It might mean in mountains in French, but it could be the name of a place?

I also read Barton as Boston.

And, I think the Demons of Revelry should be the name of Krystyn's next band.

Also, thanks thebruce!!

Thank you very much and great work thebruce! You made a trip there in darkness after all -- awesome! I'm eager to read about your adventure.

The last word of the first sentence is Trimountaine. Here's the wiki page about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trimountaine It says:
Quote:
Trimountaine was the original name given by European settlers to the peninsula that would later incorporated as the city of Boston. The name was derived from the three prominent hills on the peninsula, two of which were leveled as the city was modernized. The third hill, Beacon Hill, remains to this day a prominent feature of the Boston cityscape.

and
Quote:
The settlement of Trimountaine or Trimontaine (named after the peninsula's three hills) changed its name to "Boston" on September 7, 1630; the settlement of Shawmut also changed its name to "Boston", on September 16. Governor Winthrop announced the foundation of the City of Boston on September 17.[5] Boston is named after the town of Boston, in the English county of Lincolnshire, from which several prominent colonists emigrated. The Massachusetts Bay Colony planted many nearby settlements in 1630 and the years that followed.

Thanks for correcting the transcript Caffiend. Would you please also change revelary to revelry?

Twice the naming of a piece of land is mentioned. Have we to try and work out what the settlers from thebruce's note called their land? If so, the earlier paragraphs in the note, mentioning that tall crops struggle there and the fact that there is a port there could be clues?

The whale that popped up in the video too, perhaps we're looking for an old whaling town in the Boston area?

Alternatively, I could be speculating wildly and have no real clue what's next. Smile

EDIT:- having done a bit of digging, apparently the town of New Bedford, just a little south of Boston was at one point the foremost whaling port in the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Bedford

Great job, thebruce!

As for what's next, I think we wait for Songwraith. From everything we've seen and been told so far, these pages seem like the rewards for each chapter of the game, rather than clues to the next action. By the end of the game, we'll have the complete story.

Thanks again for getting the clue thebruce -- totally enjoyed your account of finding it. The photo with the crescent moon is perfect. While it would have been easier in the daylight, it wouldn't have been the same spooky atmosphere you had going when you did. I'm adding flashlight and fresh batteries to ARG Toolkit. Very Happy

thanks... and I still can't believe that neither a gas station nor the Short Stop had a flashlight OR batteries. You'd think both of them would, of all places, even for different reasons. Bang Head
hehe

but I'm keeping that halloween flashlight... so suitable to the excursion Very Happy

Merago, welcome aboard and nice research on New Bedford. Since songwraith said in the latest video, "Your goal is not to find the prison city but to know her story," it's possible that this story's city is fictional and, thus, not to be found on any map.

ETA: Up for discussion is the red symbol on the history page. Is it an initial "D" or something else? And, now we have a symbolic crow on a page of the history, I decided to dig a bit more into its meaning. "A bad bird" gave me pause, but the last line in particular caught my attention. http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/3030/crow2.html

I also read the red symbol as a fancy "D". My first thought was that it was a signature of sorts, but then I thought it might be the sequence of pages - this is page D. I'm still thinking signature, but we'll know more about that when we get the next page, I guess.

Before the reboot, it was suggested that the next chapter after Galt would be in New York City. No indication yet if that's still the direction. I guess we'll know if we start to see a lot of pigeon symbology for the next page. Laughing

That cracked me up Pavoreax. A game I played once required a lot of research; it's hard to break the habit of looking for deep meanings. I tend to take the leave no stone unturned approach. Laughing

Speaking of which I've been looking at the Galt page to see if there's an underlying image or if it's just shadows created by the original paper having been crunched up. Played with it a bit in Photoshop and wonder what do you all think?

yeah it's a print on a page that already has kind of a 'crumple' or water-damaged kind of look (you can buy paper that comes with design like that in stores), hard to explain. but I didn't notice any pattern in the 'texture' of the page.

Thanks, thebruce, as I'd meant to ask if you saw anything different in the page you have in hand. I'll cross off what I thought I saw to my overactive imagination.

I'll definitely take a closer examination of it when I get home again tomorrow... I didn't consider analyzing it more than what was clearly visible Smile
don't know why I didn't. and I call myself an arger. *tsk*
I didn't even sweep it with a black light. Dunce

I'll be interested to hear if you see more when you look at it again thebruce. For everyone's consideration I thought I'd throw out one thing I think I see on this page. On the right-hand side of it, rotated 90 degrees, it looks to me like the ship's flag again. At first I thought the center image between the bars was a stag's head and later thought it looked more like a bird's head with plumage. Is this shadows or something more?
