GB8889 if you look at other photos in the galleries of the anonymous hosting site, all of them have that same kind of sequence as the leathery jpeg does. So I'm pretty sure it's just their naming convention.

While the prison city may be central to the overall narrative, I think there's more to the story of the people within it to be told, perhaps one man's story in particular.

Ahhhhhh.

Thank you Tresbien. You have put my mind to rest. Probably very little to do until next we hear from our PM then. Time to kick back and rest my brain.

Well...if your mind still needs something to do, we haven't identified the source of the photo or the music track accompanying it. And we didn't identify the house/building in the previous video either (these things gnaw at me!). Laughing

Mostly correct. We haven't identified the doll, whale, or man in the same video. For my part I sifted through about 52 pages of Google trying to find that whale picture and failing miserably. Though I do believe it's a humpback whale. if that helps anyone.

Also, I think the screen caps most people have been taking are of the low quality movies that automatically load on you tube. Every one of Songwraith's videos since the ARG restarted also have a high quality version. I have no idea if the house has any more identifying features in the high quality version but it seems much clearer than in the caps people have put up.

Just throwing that out there in case there's some fresh eyes that didn't already notice that. I'm sure most of you did anyway.

New

I'm 100% new here, found this site by another game, this is the first game I'm interested in.

Seems to me that the cast of players may merely by a story line by which a particular region goes through it's downfall....probably located in the North Eastern part of North America seeing as the Prison City, ships, Canadian Cities, Port Cities, the prohibition images, are all located there.

I also sent songwraith a message asking to maybe reveal whether the cast of players are actual people, or artifacts, or a mixture of the 2....waiting on a reply.

The Echelon "a formation of troops, ships, airplanes, etc., in which groups of soldiers or individual vehicles or craft are arranged in parallel lines, each to the right or left of the one in front, so that the whole presents the appearance of steps."

seems like The Echelon is only referring to the story as a "whole" and us piecing it together as it appears in a series of steps.

Hrm?

Quote:
Welcome to the echelon. It is time to know your cast of players. The founder; a man of eternal sorrow. The hanged bride; a witch of Monaco. The pride; the child twice murdered. The jurors; time may prove their innocence. The prison city; a possessive women dressed as the town. Now that you know them, they will haunt you.

After doing a bit of reading found here
http://books.google.com/books?id=3mY9AAAAIAAJ&pg=PA100&lpg=PA100&dq=birds+and+witches&source=web&ots=pOVncP4Saj&sig=WjIyh_ugE3NBC2brLrckaR6YwvE&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=4&ct=result#PPA99,M1

all the cast of players seems to lead to witches and witch craft in my mind.

"The Founder, a man of eternal sorrow" History of witchcraft leads to lucifer, the "founder" of witchcraft.

"The hanged bride; a witch of Monaco." Witches are often referred to as "brides of satan" and often in the trails of witches they would be hanged as a method of death.

"The pride; the child twice murdered." seems to reference to page 101 of the reading linked above. Whereas one woman would be tempted to kill the child, while another would be tempted to take their innocence by sexual means. Taking pride in what they're doing, thinking in their minds that it's the right thing to do.

"The jurors; time may prove their innocence" The fearful towns people "jurors" killing the witches based on fear, whereas their fear may prove to be correct in the killing of the specified woman.

"a possessive women dressed as the town." seems to reference back to the book linked above. Where the women "witches" would be seen as sexual beings by the men, then murdered after committing sexual acts.

And of course the prison city.....referring to the city in which these "witches" souls were trapped within the confines of the city because that's where they were murdered.

the "haunting" at the end of this message could also refer to the witch haunting the cities as their souls could not escape.

this may be WAYYYY out of order, and may have nothing to do with anything.....but it may be something to think about as more of the story unfolds.

Welcome Johnnyrotten. I agree with the track you're on, but I've never felt certain that the hanged bride is the same person as the witch of Monaco. I asked for clarification of the punctuation but never got it.

For the child twice murdered, you may be right, and I want to think about that a bit more. I thought the reference was to the Who wants to live forever video in which songwraith said, "They hung her with my child inside of her. I saved the little girl, but the townspeople drowned her, too." I interpreted that to mean the child was meant to be killed by the hanging of her mother, but she survived and was killed again by drowning.

Edited to correct video title.

Possible...

The child twice murdered seems quite valid with your point. As far as the punctuation, I would highly assume that the hanged bride and the monaco witch is one in the same....If not, then the rest of that message is COMPLETELY changed from my previous thoughts. It seems like The first part is the name of the character then separated by the ; then onto the description of that particular character.

That's how I have it transcribed in my own notes:
"It is time to know your cast of players: The founder, a man of eternal sorrow; the hanged bride, a witch of Monaco; the pride, the child twice murdered; the jurors -- time may prove their innocence; the prison city, a possessive woman dressed as the town." This last phrase particularly throws me off and makes me unsure of the meaning of everything else.

While the above is probably what was intended and how most everyone reads it, I think it's also possible that the cast of players is: the founder, a man of eternal sorrow, the hanged bride, a witch of Monaco, the pride, the child twice murdered, the jurors (time may prove their innocence), the prison city, a possessive woman dressed as the town. I figure it'll become clear as we move forward.

that may be but, you cant change the way the jurors are punctuated to make sense. The punctuation matches the rest, so they are all either separate, or all go together. I'm sure the punctuation is irrelevant, but it does provide the number of factors based in this story....whether fewer or more than we currently believe.

Thanks so much Psysop and nice work! What caught my attention in your link is the photo's date of 01 January 1920. I appreciate having the time and location (Boston) nailed down.

Just found the music track Very Happy - well a cover of it atleast. I believe the song is called "Speak Easy" and was written in the 1920's. I haven't found the source yet, but heres a cover (listen for yourselves as I believe this is the exact song) - it makes sense based on what SPEAKEASY means:

Please feel free to help me figure out where the original can be found as I must get back to my job now Shocked

Well done, for the life of me I could not find either the picture or the song. ..

According to wikipedia...

"A speakeasy was an establishment that surreptitiously sold alcoholic beverages during the period of United States history known as Prohibition (1920–1933)"

Fits in with the picture....we may be looking for one of these former establishments in Boston?

I don't know Psysop. It doesn't sound like the same melody to me, but you're definitely on the right track with the speakeasy genre.
