no cheats, and about 2minutes. probably many wrong answers, because I had to guess 5 answers. It was really tough questions on subjects I would have to do careful research to find the correct answer. Through those questions, were some very easy one on, Ipods, blackberry, Apple. Anyway, I'm in Demeter now.

Pandora, Steropes, Otus, Helios, Nyx, Demeter

Ok, wow, this is creepy. If any of you read the posts by the person everybody on the ABC boards suspects is the Black Swan, she was talking about some tragic bridge disaster in one of her posts. Everyone was thinking in present day in regards to her statements. But I wasn't so sure. Now I'm REALLY convinced she was talking of the past.

Being a former Pac Northwester, I am very familiar with this bit of history. The Tacoma Narrows are infamous for their winds. (Location is basically connecting Tacoma to Gig Harbor.) This film clip is classic: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsCBK-fRNRk.

I have personally travelled over "Sturdy Gertie" the circa 1950 replacement bridge ("Galloping Gertie" being the name given to the 1940's version you will see in the video.) Now I guess they have a matching bridge--too many cars for the old one I suspect. When we were kids we used to hold our breath while going across it as we were always prepared for it to rock and roll (despite assurances from our parents!) because we'd all seen that film clip, dredged up for the local news each time there was a bridge disaster somewhere else. (Usually sort of a bridge collapse pissing contest..."You think that one is bad, you should have seen OUR disaster!").

Anyway, due to the talk about the bridge from the suspected Black Swan, I think this is possibly a significant piece of info.

EDIT: This is a better video as it talks about the harmonic resonance that caused this...island applicable???? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mclp9QmCGs

My questions were mostly about technical and PC themes.

But three questions were about language. And one of them was ehm... not so correct.

Quote:
What does mean Japanese word "mate"

Well, I suppose, they have meant "matte", 待って, with two "t", since the correct answer was

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"stop", although, it isn't really correct: "matte" does mean "(please) wait"

So, dear Dharma Group, first check your questions, and after this let test people Smile

Anyway, I am now in: Pandora > Brontes > Enceladus > Cronus > Aether > Demeter

UPDATE: I used cheat 2 times.

Good catch Kosmo.

Along these lines, one I had was kind of ambiguous...."What does the word "terrier" mean? Choices: Air, Water, Earth, A small dog that chases vermin.

Well yes, it is a small dog that chases vermin. But in fact, the word terrier comes from the French terrier, derived from the Latin terra, both meaning earth.

So, which one do ya pick???? I went with earth. Who knows if that is what they wanted.

Did anyone else get a call from an Unknown number while they were taking the test (and cheating)? I did, and it could've been any number of things, but I definitely got the "uh oh, I'm caught" feeling, and like raced through to finish so I could answer. Couldn't get to it in time, and no message. Sad

I got the same question, and earth is the correct answer. Wink

very cool test! I liked this cheat. It took me 47 seconds to complete the test. I cheated onevery question and i'm in group Ares. I guess they really did decide to use the Gods themselves....

Pandora - Brontes - Tityos - Helios - Oranos - Ares

Im glad they decided to do a sixth test. That invokes the Numbers, which is what this is all about. Also, i got Ares! The God of War. Very cool.

Okay, it seems that the group you are put in is determined by what type of test you get, not by how well (or poor) you perform on the test. Lets see if we can proove this.... so far it seems that the groups match the tests as such:

Demeter - Language/Communication
Apollo - Psychology/Philosophy
Ares - Engineering/Architecture
Hestia - ?
Poseidon - ?
Athena - ?

If anybody gets put in one of those last three groups let us know what your questions were about!

Apollo, and I got mostly psychological questions, though I got a few about religion and history as well. A question on the nature of atheism and one about Sir Thomas More come to mind.

I have not yet taken my Test 6, so I do not know yet what kind of questions I will get. This quoted example makes me think the questions are coming from the players -- and that Dharma is not doing any sort of fact checking. Sad, really. I learned a different word for the answer in the spoiler, so now I have to spoiler my reply:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I learned the phrase "Please stop at the corner" to be used in a taxi as being pronounced "Kono kado o tomatte kudasai." Therefore I assumed the verb isn't "matte" but "tomatte" -- and both Yahoo! answers and this site agree with me. Additionally, this is the conjugated form of the verb, so at least they didn't say it means "to stop" which is listed in my English-Japanese dictionary as "tomeru". As for the "mate" in the question, there is such a word (without the double-t) and it appears to mean "wait", which is a different command/request entirely.

So there, it's wrong. Period.
