Life after the game
Is it a possibility?

So, the biggest thing that bothers me with nearly any type of fiction ever is the fact that, once the story's over, we never hear from our beloved characters ever again (Unless there's a sequel, of course.) I mean, wouldn't it be at least mildly amusing to hear about Frodo's daily life after pwning Sauron and his ring, or hear what James Bond does in his free time away from saving the world, etc. etc.

Of course, though, with movies, television, books... All that fiction is confined to the screen or to the page. ARGs, however, are meant to blur the line between reality and fiction.

So then, why is it that, even here, once the world is no longer in imminent peril/That one cheerleader has finally been saved/The princess ISN'T in another castle/what have you, our protagonists STILL seem to vanish from the face of the earth until (Insert ARG's name here) part 2?

I wouldn't expect as much involvement as there'd be when the game is running, but... I'll ask this: Would it be plausible (Or has there already been a case of this) for an ARG character to "escape" the boundaries of a game, and continue to occasionally appear online (Whether it be once a week or once every four months, or even just once) after the game is over, and, if so, Would it be worth it?

Us ARG'ers tend to get rather attached to these characters, so to see a game character outside of the game would be pretty neat. On the other hand, it does take a lot of labor to maintain a character's online accounts, and without any REAL plot anymore, things could easily become rather mundane. And let's not forget other, smaller variables, like possible "Is this the trailhead for a sequel, or is this guy just trying to keep his audience's attention?" sort of moments and whatnot.

That probably didn't come out anywhere near as equolent and well thought out as I imagined it would be, but I hope you get where I'm going with this XD

You know, I think it would be great fun to see a "Shrek" of the ARGiverse. Laughing
A mass meta-crossover of all ARG characters... =)

I considered doing something like this for Joshua, but the problem is that it's a lot of WORK to do it right.

He is still around after all... Maybe there's hope.

You've given me an idea...

(okay, so my idea was thought up already, and it's only similar, but still)

(I see the Captchas for guest posts have gotten a lot more artistic... XD)

I think someone from Confederacy of Shadows (A decidedly smaller ARG community I hang abouts) proposed that idea, but... again, we is small D:

But... You know... if anyone ever gets that idea off the ground, you'd BEST get me in on it XD

talking about life after ARG, the sammeeeees universe did that when the sequel popped up out of nowhere almost a year later. we just happened to notice a few changes in the character's MySpace.

Randomeis pointed this out to me yesterday: www.sammeeeees.com has shown up. try emailing happyrogers and see what you get.
