Note, by the way, that one of the locations given on the CoV site is their Intellectual Properties office, located in Xander's hometown of Providence. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Awesome work projectyl! Should we send an email to citizens of virtue stating we have business with the CIV Intellectual Properties office so we can get a name for a contact there?

Well done indeed, projectyl! I've been staring at that song for half a week now...

Also, not to only post the obvious, but if we do end up with a series of clues that fit our (potential) set of categories from the inspirations, I'm filing the Beatles clue under Insects...

Oh! Maybe Xander's trying to tell us to get someone (Lila? Steph? Does "Steph" stand for "Stephen" or "Stephanie"?) to copyright Bridegroom of Blood's music, so we can call the CoV out on their use of "The Seventh Seal" in the Temperance video! Laughing

(I've also posted this idea on The Garden Wall; maybe Lila will respond with more info.)

I'm not very good with codes myself, but I've been thinking about the VENT letter on the Camp Francis page and have some things for smarter people than I to test out.

First, I counted which word 'vent' appeared in each line. Here are the results:
6, 8, 2, 1, 9, 7, 3, 4, 1, 5, 4, 14, 4, 5, 5, 1, 12
They correspond to the following letters in the alphabet:
FHBAIGCDAEDNDEEAL

Then I counted at which syllable in the sentence the word 'vent' appeared:
8, 9, 3, 2, 12, 7, 3, 5, 1 , 5, 19, 9, 7, 7, 8, 3, 17
They correspond to the following letters in the alphabet:
HICBLGCEAGESGGHCQ

Lastly, I took the first letter of each word that 'vent' appeared in:
CAECIVVPVASCHCCUS

I ran these through Decrypto and got nothing, but I thought I'd post my findings anyway, in case someone had some other patterns they could think of to try

I looked at the nth letter before/after VENT in each line, up to n=12, and came up with nothing there.

I specifically checked the 17th letters before/after each VENT since seventeen is the first number with vent in it, is the line count, and is the last word. That also failed.

Lila's posted a reply:

Quote:
I actually did help Xander with the copyrights to that particular song a few months back. So, I don't know why he would need that song copyrighted again... Unless I'm missing something? Does Xander need me to copyright something else? Thanks again to all of you working so hard to help me and Xander. I owe you all cookies and coffee! We're so close, I can feel it. I'm actually starting to believe I'll see Xander again soon. And when I do, we are sitting down for a little chat, I can assure you.

Hmm...

[Edited to make this one big post instead of a double:]

And with a push from esc on the Garden Wall forums, I think we've finished this week's mission! Lila's going to copyright the revisions of the "Faithless Fourteen", and presumably block them from being used.

*high-fives all around*

Did you know that the Beatles' film/album 'Hard Day's Night' was released in France under the title 'Quatre garçons dans le vent'??

It translates to 'Four boys in the wind'.

I bet you someone has already figured this out, and I just missed it, but...

So, the 'answer' to the Daily Inspiration for the first day is believed to be 'flowers'. Around the same time a website was discovered called Fruit Of The Garden, a sight made by Lila Greene about plants... and flowers are a type of plant, amirite? This might mean we have to pay attention to Lila Greene's site for the first week.
The second we haven't figured out yet, but the third ('money') could refer to the 'Virtuous Shopping' section on their website, maybe the release of Passionix or some more merchandise might appear. Who knows?
The fourth I'll skip, cos I'm gonna look into that now, but the fifth ('insects') could possibly refer again to Fruit of the Garden, where she talks about too many bugs and, i quote, 'what is with the mosquitos this year?'... this might mean to refer back to her site in week five?
The sixth ('codes') could refer to the Holon typeface/codey thing used on the front cover and site of Jesus Wants To Save Christians. Maybe this site in week six?
And the seventh I can't comment on, cos it only just came out, but it seems to be a bit of a 'what do the dead eat, the poor have, and the rich want' kind of riddle... I dunno, this sounds plausible but It seems a bit of a stretch...

Time to get crackin' on #7! Peace, y'all!

EDIT TIME: I may have it - the passage today references 'incliment weather' and rising, maybe a flood? The daily bread reference points us to the bible, and the two animals in the passage... Could this mean... Noah and the Ark? This means our next group might be 'Animals'? I'm just rushing here...

Just some thoughts/observations on 10/14 Inspiration:

- It's labeled as WEEKLY inspiration, the rest labeled DAILY inspiration.
- Bodies of dead saints and/or their relics are often locked in shrines in cathedrals
- An Edgehill Angelic Aria is a type of dog.
- Pan is spanish for bread
- "beck and call", "obey me" - phrases that make me think of a dog/owner relationship
- There is a 182 line poem from early 1900s by Francis Thompson called "The Hound of Heaven"

What day is the next Virtue campaign supposed to begin??

guh. it's like every sentence or segment of each sentence has some unique/strange phrase that seems like a pointer to something...

Quote:
Though inclement weather may rise,
I shall not hide in a barn like a mouse.
My future is not some treasure locked in a shrine out of my reach.
The pan of daily bread that is mine is at my beck and call,
send from above like parts of an angelic aria.
The warring factions shall obey me,
for even a hound can sip from a chalice.

so cryptic!

to note: "inclement weather" appears in With A Little Luck by Paul McCartney
It's also hard to pass up that dog theme noted by bcjam... Confused

The next campaign will start on Wednesday according to Savannah Merks. I saw her on Facebook and tried to talk to her. She later sent me this message:

"Sorry I didn't notice your IM question. Things are so busy around here --- you just can't believe it. I wanted to let you know that Patience will be debuting on Wednesday. Please be sure to tell all your friends about it. They can see themselves at www.citizensofvirtue.com"

As for the new inspiration - I saw Hound and immediately thought Elvis. I don't know if there are any other connections there to him. It looks more like the whole dog or animal theme.

Perhaps irrelevant, perhaps not ... but there are an awful lot of things in here that could be clues for 5-letter words and phrases.

RELIC = treasure locked in a shrine
TIMID = like a mouse
ONTAP = at my beck and call
GRAIL = chalice

Then plenty of other possibilities:

HARRY, BESET, etc = hound
DRINK, QUAFF, TASTE, etc = sip
STORM, etc = inclement weather

And so on. We could probably find 5-letter clues for "rise", "hide in a barn" (something like "pelt"), "out of reach", "pan", and so on ... but what would we do with them?

Since this is a "weekly inspiration", I think this is going to be something a little different than the game of Categories we think we may be playing with the daily ones. Perhaps it's a clue to how that game works; perhaps it's tangentially, or even not at all, related to that. But I don't think it's going to just lead to a single category, regardless.
