Cardinal sins, virtual virtues
The virtues map to sins

Hi, after receiving my CoV cards in the mail, I spent some time trying to make sense of all this on my own, before finding my way here. Boy, you all are smart (but I already knew that - given how many of you I know IRL).

Anyway, the one thing I kind of figured out on my own doesn't seem to have shown up here. While the Virtual Virtues don't map to the Cardinal Virtues, they do map the the Cardinal Sins:

Lust <> Chastity
Gluttony <> Temperance
Greed <> Charity
Sloth <> Diligence
Wrath <> Kindness
Envy <> Patience
Pride <> Humility

I admit that Envy/Patience is a little weak, but frankly I couldn't think of any word that is a better opposite - Envy is wanting something you don't have, while Patience is waiting for something you don't have.

Gareth BlayneI

I was just looking through Suzannah's friends on Facebook and she is friends with a Gareth Blayne whose profile picture show a silver (or platinum?) LORD bracelet. I added them as a friend. We'll see what happens. This person has also made the most comments on her wall. Could be fake? Who knows? Or maybe I mean real? I'm confused! haha!

Jenny - welcome to UF! Register for an account, the benefits are very worth it. Great find with the cardinal sins! Wink

LovesRobBell - Also nice find with Gareth Blayne. He only has one friend - Savannah - so my gues is, yes, in-game. I've also sent a friend request.

Nice on Gareth Blayne. There's also a "Gareth B, Fort Lauderdale Florida" as the author of one of the "The Lord's Due" pieces.

store and eve

Someone asked a few pages ago whether there was more to do with New Year's Eve in regards to "Eve".

And speaking of the store, there's a book (not available) on the store, called the "Rape of Eve"

any connection, or is the 12-31 thing more likely to be the only part of that clue?

So far, the Daily Inspirations haven't been linked at all to anything on the site. The Weekly Inspiration has told us what to do with the DIs, which then link back to a person on the website.

But, that certainly shouldn't eliminate the possibly of the connection with the book.

In fact, if you go to the Wikipedia page on Deadly Sins, this exact correspondence is listed as being the Roman Catholic virtues:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins#Catholic_virtues

This part of the Wikipedia page assumed its current form on 16 April 2008, so it's unlikely that this was something planted by the gamesters.

just fyi, I'll be going to a youth convention next weekend, and I'm seeing if Savannah can organize a package of cards for me to hand out for CoV while I'm volunteering in merchandise Smile
if they can get permission from the event, then I could be an official (and legitimate) representative/Virtu-Volunteer... hehe

Actually it looks like the Wiki is slightly different:

Lust <> Chastity
Gluttony <> Temperance
Greed <> Charity
Sloth <> Diligence
Envy <> Kindness
Wrath <> Patience
Pride <> Humility

This would be more in line with the Patience theme that we're seeing with respect to parental restraint vs. anger.

Also in the first video, the Pastor confirms the Temperance connection by mentioning "Gluttonous appetites."

The CoV logo is a rainbow with the correct seven colors ... but in the wrong order. I'm convinced that color-coding is going to be important at some point; perhaps the rainbow logo will give the order in which to put the pieces of information we get from each week?

Assume that the colors VIBGYOR correspond to 1234567 (consistent with the ordering of the weekly sins and the telephone extensions on the cards). This is the standard rainbow ordering (from inside to outside, anyway).

Then the ordering of the CoV rainbow is 4531627, which is the same as the color ordering of the VirtuVolunteers from right to left on the home page image. This could indeed be a final ordering clue or a phone number or God knows what.

I'd also like to point out that the merchandise offered for sale at the Cafe Press Citizens of Virtue store http://www.cafepress.com/shopvirtue is a rather odd selection and ordering of goods in which the colors may very well be significant. I don't know if you get to choose the ordering in which your goods for sale are presented on the Cafe Press site, but assuming you do, there is a definite potential to encode a message here.

The first 9 items are colored T-shirts, with the Man's (M) and Lady's (F) in a mixed order. Using the same color numbers above, these are:

Code:
3F 3M 6F 5M 4M 1F 7F 7M 2M

The next are a complete set of Lady's White T-shirts in this order:

Code:
3754216

Next a complete set of Man's White T-shirts in this order:

Code:
4765123

Next is a complete set of (unisex) long sleeve shirts in standard (1234567) order.

Finally, you can get a hat (no specific virtue), humble or chaste boxers, a bear (no virtue), a bag (no virtue), and best of all, a chaste thong.

emails

Todd, that must be what the late night meeting was about!

I have also recently emailed back and forth with Savannah.
Don't know if there is much interesting there. Except I never said the name Cole, and has anyone else interacted with an Anna Gimble?

Hello again!
I am interested in talking with Erin C. from Spokane Valley, WA. I also am dealing with a daughter that has the same issues.
Do you know how I might be able to contact her?

Thanks!

Yes, she sent her daughter Tabitha to Camp Francis.

Dear,

I will pass your message on to the director of Camp Francis. I do not know the policy of our Camp Francis director on giving out personal information about our happy campers or their families.

Prayerfully,

Savannah Merks told me that you were interested in contacting the parent of one of our happy campers, Tabitha Cole.

I am sorry, but we cannot give out parental addresses to anyone who does not already have authorization to access our addresses directory online.

I do hope you will consider sending your child to Camp Francis. The Lord works great wonders with wayward youth there.

Yours in Faith,
