Ah, jeez, no wonder we couldn't find a pattern in the answers this week - there wasn't one, really, without the Weekly Inspiration.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Let no obstacle thwart your
progress. If the quicksand and
murDOCk hold you back, use your
faith to set you frISBee. If all around
you are plagued by pROTests,

God's will is coRONating your soul.

...where HOWLING MAD is MURDOCK, DISC is FRISBEE, DEMONSTRATIONS is PROTESTS, VARNISHING is SHELLACKING, and CROWNING is CORONATING. Presumably the Scrabble one-point thing somehow resolves to something that's a synonym for PATRIOT, to make DOC IS BROTHEL PATRON. Duly reported. Very Happy

kudos Projectyl--inquired if an 11 year on other meds could ingest Passionix and rcvd this reply from Douglas Kressig:
Quote:
An 11-year old is too young to be treated with Passionix. Be sure you are verifying the actual meds with your CAS numbers. It's very important not to apply such information in an improper arena.

Is there a hint here or does it just serve as a guideline for someone else to ask a better question than mine? Dunno

Cool solve Projetyl!

Some days ago I sent Kressig a mail asking for the quiz mentioned in their FAQ and for statements of parents already giving Passionix to their children. He's His answer:
Quote:
Thank you very much for your interest in Passionix. It is a truly life-changing product.

I am sorry, but the actual ingredients list is propietary [sic]. I will look into the child behavior quiz mentioned in the FAQ and get back to you on that.

Your idea to have parents tell of their first-hand experience with Passionix is excellent. I will pass it on to Savannah Merks, our PR head.

Sincerely,

Douglas Kressig

What stands out to me is that I never asked for a list of Passionix-ingredients, but Kressig mentions it anyway. So - same question as amandel's - is Kressig hinting at something?

Jake: Delivery to that e-mail address is failing for me. Is that period supposed to be there?

Projectyl - you're right, it is PATriot. Took a bit of back-solving to get the 10/26 daily though...

the entire inspiration is used only of the letters ONEUISATRL. Doing a thesaurus lookup for other 'patriot' words, and looking at the inspiration, ULTRANATIONALIST stood out plainly. And the word can be made from the above letters (given 1 or more of each), with a leftover E.

That's the clearest answer I could find... I tried letter counts, but didn't see a correlation between the number of letters in ultranationalist. *shrug*

But yeah, that's got to be the solution

New DI, the word 'amnesia' keeps popping into my head when I read it. Mebeh? Or is that too simple?

EDIT: Hmm, maybe the 'proper tool' is a memory? An association with the past? *shrug* I think either 'amnesia' or whatever the proper tool is will be the clue. But I'm usually wrong Razz

@thebruce: Good to see that the COV haven't assimilated you and you're back from Hamilton. Wink
How was your assignment as 'Kind'? Did the people know what this is about or did they take it for a REAL promotion campaign?

Cas Rns

Hey all-
Been lurking for a week or so, finally caught up, just wanted to say hi, hoping to contribute soon!
Any progress on the CAS RNs? I think Projectyl has to be on to something with the Ethyl 2-methylbenzoate (or Ethyl o-toluate), since it's the only valid cas rn to be made.
Also, so I'm clear, are we trying to free Douglas Kressig? or his (presumed) son Kevin?

Another thought on the DI:

Quote:
When you find yourself afflicted, a healer will come with the proper
tool to save you; and you shall remember who he was and how you felt before your salvation.

Could it be referring to a computer virus tool like Norton Anti Virus? The references to "afflicted" and "tool" seem to suggest this. Also the notion of remembering and salvation make me think of a system restore or backup discs.

Even if I'm on the right track, I'm still not sure of a definitive answer, however. The last sentence seems to suggest that the word/phrase we're looking for has something to do remembering the name of "who he was" and "how you felt." So, Norton? Or infected?

Just throwing that out there.

My own theory about today's DI... I wanted the second half of it to clue a charade, two short words that form a new word when put together.

If DOCILL was a word, I might suggest this as the answer. I've looked for synonyms for one or both of these words, hoping they might combine into something more promising, but so far I don't have much.

If your theory is correct, then DRILL would definitely work.
