If anyone feels like staring at some data, here's everyone's initials, translated into cards. Letters from the first half of the alphabet are in [], and letters from the second half are in ().

Code:
[a][q][7] [a][3][q] (9)[8](5)
[t][t][j] [4](3)[8] [3](2)[k]
[5][k][2] [7][5][2] [k][j][q]
(6)[6][5] [5][4](6) [j](j)(9)
(6)[a](9) [t][k][7] [k][2](6)
[q][3](8) [q][9](t) (7)[6][5]
[k](k)[3] (t)[t](a) [j](7)(2)
[9][k][k] [a](3)(5) (5)(6)[q]
[2](a)[4] (6)[5][6] [3][a][7]
[a](5)[2] [4](9)[j] [4][t](2)
[2][8](6) (6)[j][t] [a][6][4]
(j)(j)(6) [k](t)[3] (5)[q](5)
[a][5](t) (2)[7][2] (9)(7)[8]
[k][k][k] [5](5)[j] [3][8][k]
[4](5)(k) (q)(q)[j] [4](a)(7)
[a][3](3) (7)(9)[6] [q][3](5)
(7)[t](2) [2][2][q] (7)[6][t]
[t](t)[q] [7](4)(t) [5][7][5]
[4][q](a) (6)(q)[2] [4](6)[k]
[q][j][a] [2][4](t) (6)(5)[5]

This feels right, Projectyl. I came up with the same a few hours ago by hand. I think the "hand" repetition might mean we have to make the best hand out of the nine cards per group. Either that, or maybe taking the value of each card and adding/multiplying them, or arranging them gives something?

It seems that there's strong language towards making a connection from one person to the next. And then connecting that person to the next and so forth using some sort of logic with the cards, perhaps.

I say this because it doesn't feel like it's going to be making the best hand out of all three workers, but somehow connecting one hand to the next. In poker there's a game called Pass the Trash where you're passing a group of cards to your neighbor and so on.

I feel like it's going to be something more along those lines.

I don't think these are groups of three people. It seems to me like you have a column of lead people, and then another column with two connected followers, and you're mixing-and-matching the lead column people to the followers who best fit.

Not quite sure how that works here -- are you pairing the leaders with the followers who make the best poker hand with them? -- but I do think it's something like that.

That's the angle I've been looking at too, Qaqaq. The text says to literally take the task and give it to someone else, so perhaps we should also be considering the text of the task?

That angle would also open up new possibilities for the anagram angle as well. I spent a while a few days ago dumping the names into the Internet Anagram Server and seeing what words I could pull out that would leave exactly five letters (a poker hand). I got a few good ones (Yumi Y. Kishi is 999KQ + HUSKY, a possible "lost pet", and Rocco S. Liberti is 55976 + BROCCOLI, a possible food), but not enough to convince me it wasn't coincidence.

I thought of that method for getting "colors", but rejected it because it doesn't seem to have been used in the video. It also gives you a person with three kings of the same color (not that the puzzle has to perfectly mimic real poker).

And can you believe that people still judge folks by how their faces look? That stuff doesn't matter either, not now anyway.

If everyone would just play the hand that's dealt, theyll find the people that really matter in their lives. That's the "virtuous life" right there!!!!

I'm tired. I'm gonna read a GOOD book for a change.

I had even started looking at the photos of the people as a giant game of (what's that game called? the one with the grid of characteristics? and you ask your opponent, "does your person wear a hat?" and then you flip down the faces that don't match, until you're left with one face...) oh, it's called "Guess Who?" by Milton-Bradley. See how many people have hats?

Anyway, Tabby now says even that doesn't matter. I think maybe we're supposed to be using another existing poker hand, play THAT hand that has ALREADY been dealt, THEN we'll find the right people to complete the chain. I have no idea where to look, other than the video. And then of course consult The Good Book. I don't suppose they played a game of Damascus Hold'Em in the Bible...

the good book

Just in case it adds anything to the argument, or is helpful in any way, TNIV has this passage in the Bible twice;

Quote:
Psalm 18:20
The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

and;

Quote:
2 Samuel 22:21
"The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

The context of 2 Samuel 22 is quoting the entire Psalm 18

Just some references to dealt and hands that I thought might be relevant. Feel free to ignore.

Is there any particular way for a game hand to be "clean"?

Not sure how you got that, but we do have a hand from the video. MIR would be [K][9](5) in Projectyl's notation I think.

New DI:
Quote:
O you will praise Him as He
deserves!
O I will praise Him as He
deserves!
Together the two of us will
praise Him as He deserves!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The two of us together (with the repeated "O") would be "O you I" which spells oui, or "yes" in French. So we have EWE=YOU, EYE=I, OUI=WE. What about DI1?

EDIT re: DI1
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"The Word 'is' for the many, not for one"
is ARE which sounds similiar to OUR

nevermind, i just woke up and read the DI wrong.

But I also just woke up saying "Title" and "Pages" out loud, seriously. My brain was telling me to find a book, and that the clues are pointing us to a book cipher? Funny how dream logic always makes sense at the time.

edit: Ok now i've reread Donimo's logic above and will suggest an alternative:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Since the clue has no hint to use French, I'll skip that part. Use O+{you and I} = O+WE = owe = pronounced letter 'O'.
I'm still going with the homophones of letters, not words, theory.

oh, and edit to edit his edit:

"The Word 'is' for the many, not for one" is ARE -- which sounds like the letter 'R'.
Same solve, just a different interpretation. Teamwork!

Well aren't you sneaky! Razz
Pronouns was my pet solution in the back of my head, but I suppose I favor the letter solution now because ARE doesn't sound exactly like OUR. I also couldn't come up with a good pronoun homophone for the last two DIs, but there are letter homophones left.

Again keeping this friends-only, but this time for a good reason! Today's Becca's 14th birthday, and shhhh! we're having a surprise party!

Becca made a list of what she wanted for her birthday, but nobody can find it. Don't worry, kid, I remember whats on it. I redid it for her in a fancy font and everything.

Mom's making her favorite: fresh-picked shrimp. OooOoooooooOOoooO!

More after the party!

the only ting suspicious there is the string of 17 O's Razz
