Fractal, I think Jack is the sixth of the seven - he's linked to Diligence. We still don't know who the seventh of the seven is, as we got no further than the hidden memo in this week's Charity.

Diligence coincidence?

One of the disciples is Alexa P. Rodriguez, from Iowa City, IA. In the Lord's Due there is a letter from Samuel G from Iowa City:
Quote:
Before I found the Citizens of Virtue – and the Lord – I was a lost sheep. All I did was gamble my money away. I lost my wife. I lost my children. But with Pastor Grace's help, I have stopped gambling and pray the good Lord will see fit to bring me back to my family once more.

I stumbled across this old post by ToddE. Since we're dealing with gamblers now, maybe Samuel is who we're supposed to help? Iowa City could just be coincidence, but if not, maybe we need to reunite Samuel the ex-gambler with Alexa from the disciples page. I tried entering Samuel G. Rodriguez and Alexa in various ways on the Diligence chain page, but no results.

Back to the other theory, if we're supposed to help Jack, what are we supposed to do for him? From the posts, it seems like Karen needs the most help. Then again, I'm still not sure exactly how we helped Gareth.

Random (mostly worthless) thoughts for Charity:

1. The sixth member is going to be a male and the seventh is going to be a female. (The silhouettes on the main page clue this).

2. 7731 Alpha could mean GGCA. The only reason that this is interesting at all is that GGCA in Google pulls up for the first hit as Greater Grace Christian Academy, a real-world school. Doubtful this means anything, but I figure any idea is worth mentioning when we're stuck.

3. Pastor Grace mentions the word "hundredfold" both on the Charity page and in the memo. Folding a hundred dollar bill? Again, not likely, but still curious.

4. Tithe means one-tenth. I tried taking every tenth letter/word of both the intro text on the Charity page and on the memo. Bleh. I thought this was going to be the answer.

5. There's gotta be a purpose to link to the memo. I would think it would either be a clue to another area of the site or to some real-world thing to do such as send an email/report something or so on. Have we thought through who might need to see this memo?

Clearly, I think the next step is 7731 Alpha. Well, there's always Xander!

More thoughts-out-loud:

This game's made use of a lot of major well-known websites. In order, if my memory's right, we've had MySpace, LiveJournal, Google (or at least a modified Google search box), CafePress, Facebook, Yahoo! Groups, and YouTube. I've been trying to think ahead to what other sites they might send us to:

- I briefly puttered around LinkedIn, given all the "chain" and "links" talk in Diligence. Nothing promising there. There IS a "Leon Lutz", but he's a Dutch CEO with plenty of connections, so I doubt it's our guy.

- I did a search on "Citizens of Virtue" on Twitter, but that just gave a lot of people tweeting about the game.

-7731A is the right length for a TinyURL extension, but it leads to what looks like an expired news story.

Can anyone think of any other sites we could try?

I think we should be thinking about 7731 Alpha and not 7731A because why would they go to the trouble of adding the extra four letters LPHA on the end of the message if they wanted to just communicate 7731A? They could have easily made their Temple 10 stories instead of 12 stories since that would still be divisible by four.

Just a thought.

some other sites

Flickr, wikipedia, amazon.com (though I think we had links to Jesus Wants to Save Christians there), last.fm, yelp, del.ici.ous, digg, reddit, tripadvisor, any mapping software, any rss aggregators or readers

Hm. I was thinking that the "ALPHA" was just to make it easier to read since otherwise it could be 7A731, 71A73, or 731A7. I think we would have kept those as options without the ALPHA.

Yep... hadn't considered that possibility. Good point.

Hm... technically it doesn't rule out 7A731. The characters were arranged in circles with no obvious starting point, and the circles themselves had no obvious ordering, so those particular tetragrams could be ALPH A731 just as easily as 731A LPHA.

Since we hit a dead end at the memo, I tried looking it over. I noticed a couple things. The names are listed last then first. Seems odd to me. Also, they aren't in an expected order. Savannah is listed second after Eli. I would have expected to see her first. Either that, or maybe with the members listed in 'virtue' order, which would put Savannah third from last.

Playing with the names, I discovered that the first names run from lengths of 3 through 10! Did someone notice this before and I missed it?:
Code:

ELI
LEON
GRACE
JUSTIN
WILFRED
SAVANNAH
ALEJANDRA

Surely that's significant. Maybe it's providing (yet another!) ordering. I also think the last names are odd enough to signal something hidden.

I was gonna write "New DI!" then say "Just kidding!" in spoiler tags, but

New DI!:
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

For some reason it's not listed in the archive.

EDIT:
Romans 8:25
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Total guess: maybe the DI is simply providing the two numbers (8, 25) to index into something else?

Not really a new one, this was the DI we saw during the countdown phase, pre-launch of the first Virtue.

Did I miss something? Did we post the YouTube video we needed? Or did they just declare the task completed even though we never did that?
