Yeah, and waiting for someone (anyone!) to take the trip up there and find the CD...

Having completed my latest job deadline at 5:36 a.m. Pacific this morning, and gotten enough sleep to feel partially human again, and having about 3 hours before the people I'm working for in Nairobi wake up,I've checked out the updated pages again. Three things strike me:

1) As I predicted in an earlier post, the final lastgig video would be Gina's title track, "Love Resurrected." What I didn't expect to see was (spoilers ahead)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
that this video ALSO ends with the word "Box" added at the end as in the other videos. This leads me to conclude that the "check behind the lining of the box" clue we've assembled from the videos HASN't been fulfilled yet; if what we were to do was to check behind the lining of the box at the geocache, why is the clue still here?

Sorry to double post, wanted to respond to this - I wrote this off since the last half of the video is one that we've already had, and the clue was part of that previous video. I could be wrong, but that's where I stand at the minute. Seems as if the code should lead to something (haven't spent nearly enough time trying to crack it), but I think the most important thing at this point is to get to the motel...

Ugh. Fine. I think I could make the drive to the motel on Wednesday. That will give us another couple of days to look at the code before I head up there. Just in case anyone has any epiphanies.

Yeah, it's possible, perhaps even more likely, the clue is part of the geocache reset, since that part seems intended to be around for awhile.

What is clear is that whatever is at the hotel is NOT a geocache: "Only the first person who maks the trip will find something on Stoddard" says Gina's note at /lastgig. Besides looking behind the painting, I suggest taking the Gideon Bible seen on the table in the film, turning it upside down, and riffling through the pages to see if something falls out. (Even if there isn't a clue, there's always the urban legend that occasionally people leave money in them.)

I'm either chained to my desk at work in Woodland Hills or staying close to home in Reseda until further notice due to work. There are a few times a year I have to be available 24/7 for the people I work for, and unfortunately this is one of them. If anyone in the LA or Santa Barbara counties can make the trip, I urge them to do so, and quickly. The game is mostly solvable to this point without being a part of this forum; I didn't stumble on to this forum until a month ago, and that was dumb luck. If someone who picked up the trailhead from Gina's music page gets there first, that person may not even know about this site, and may not share whatever is found.

This is all true, but I'm hoping (possibly against hope) that there would've been some instruction on or near whatever's hidden to report back the way that faeryqueen/FacianeA and the other guy did, and there'd be an update on the /visitors site.

I think it's all on you, faeryqueen Smile (no pressure...)

So should I stop at the first site to check for a new clue? It's on the way to the hotel. I don't have a shovel though...

Or should I just leave it since I already went there and should give someone else a chance?

Unless some other player has been to the geocache since I was there, I bet all you'd find is a new marker and what I left. That part of the game seems over for us, imo, but there for anyone who comes along afterwards.

Of course, whatever you find at the hotel may point back to the geocache, and I'll be completely wrong. Very Happy

Back to the code - looking at it further, there are the same number of symbols as letters, suggesting a one-to-one correspondence; but the symbols don't repeat and the letters do. I can't help but think there's a piece missing from this puzzle. Maybe that's what you'll find.

I'm sorry, I thought when you said that the clue may correspond to the geocache reset that's what you meant. That there may be something new there. But I agree that it's unlikely they would put a new clue in the first spot.

Also, if I get there and it's already claimed I'm going to be super pissed.

Ok, so I am going to head out soon. I'm bringing a camera and the code thingy. I'm going to check behind the headboard and in the Bible. Anything I'm missing?

I'm back! The drive there was lame because of traffic but the way back wasn't too bad. I got to the motel and asked for room 127. She didn't question me at all but wanted to make sure I was ok with the fact that the room was non-smoking. Once in the room I checked behind the picture. Taped to the back was a cd, as expected. On the cd is written, "I had no choice. Thank you for coming this far. Gina". Also taped to the back was a shell casing with a piece of paper rolled up inside. Written on the paper is "/vindicated127". There folks, you will find a ton of puzzly goodness to sink your teeth into! www.love-resurrected.com/vindicated127

So then I left. I just told the woman I wouldn't actually be able to stay the night and she just smiled and took the key back. She probably thought I was a prostitute or something. Wink

Pictures to come soon!

P.S. - I forgot to mention that I did check around the room a bit for anymore clues and found nothing.

Using track-word-letter, the first column is:
Code:
1-10-4  L
4-11-3  A
1-4-1   Y
4-63-3  E
3-6-4   R
2-13-1  T
1-2-2   H
4-28-2  E
3-7-4   L
2-22-4  Y
4-5-1   R
4-1-1   I
1-27-3  C
2-5-6   S
3-6-2   O
4-8-2   N
1-8-7   T
2-19-5  H
4-2-4   E
3-32-7  C
1-20-1  D

Then:
[code]3-1-1 F
2-12-1 I
4-8-2 N
1-20-1 D
1-2-1 T
4-19-2 H
3-1-2 E
2-5-1 W
2-3-3 O
1-8-6 R
4-2-5 D
3-7-1 S
1-2-1 T
1-2-2 H
3-8-3 A
4-11-2 T
4-19-1 T
4-6-2 O
3-6-3 U
4-2-1 C
2-19-5 H
1-36-2 R
2-3-3 O
1-8-1 S
2-4-3 E
3-8-3 A
4-8-2 N
1-20-1 D
3-11-5 H
2-4-3 E
1-8-6 R
3-8-1 P
4-5-2 I
2-3-4 N

2-9-2 U
4-3-1 M
2-28-1 B
3-1-3 E
1-36-2 R[code]

Are you using the grid with the symbols or the circle with the words in it? I'm just curious how you're doing this cause I can't see it.

I interpreted the circle of words as a tracklist, with lyrics.

Also, I assumed track 5 was missing and was an instrumental. Otherwise, the last column made no sense.

Code:
7-4-2   E
3-45-3  X
2-4-1   T
1-8-6   R
4-7-3   A
3-11-4  C
6-9-4   T
3-11-1  W
2-1-1   I
1-6-1   I
4-13-1  F
3-2-4   R
2-1-1   I
4-20-3  L
3-7-4   L
2-3-1   A
1-6-2   N
6-9-1   D
7-9-4   R
8-3-5   E
7-3-1   A
4-5-1   R
3-3-2   R
7-3-1   A
2-8-3   N
8-6-8   G
3-1-2   E

Zooming in on the circle of lyrics, you can see the CD lightly printed there [assuming this is the CD meant: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31087450@N04/2909665397/]. The words "rose #7226" overlays are "Filled with air". Extracting "WIIFRILL" leaves "edtha"... rearrange: "hated"? Oh, or "death".

Ah. It's death.

Nicely done faeryqueen21, and nicely done EGo! That leaves us with two puzzles by my count: the table with letters and a line of symbols, and the easter egg in the lower left hand corner.

BTW, the "missing song" from the lyrics is "Saw the Sun." It's not an instrumental, but it is the one song on the album we don't yet have a video for, and it's in the right place on the cd track list to fill the gap. I think that explains the "one song is missing" clue
