St Louis

If it wasn't in the library I suspect that someone found it. I don't know which library they checked but most cities have one library that is clearly the main one. I guess they could keep looking.

I'm a true believer in sharing information but not everyone feels the same way. And, as you said, the people who found it may not have been able to share or even known where to post the information they found.

Whatever, when it happens in a game that the players don't share, if indeed that is what happened here, it is up to the game designers to decide how to handle it. If they want everyone to know the same information, they will find a way to get it out there. ( Also, it might just be the same or similar info planted in five different places just to increase the odds that at least some of the players will share.) If they don't care, or it isn't important to moving the game forward, that everyone has the same or least the vital parts of the same information, then they don't do anything about it.

I think especially in this game there's the impetus to hide what you've got, too, because at 7 PM on Friday it becomes an honest-to-goodness race. So yeah, I can understand if somebody already got it and hasn't shared, but it's still a bummer. Hopefully they'll let us know when it's all over.

I at the very least plan on coming back here to let you guys know how the game went. You've been invaluable helping us work out the clues, thanks guys.

Well, that was disappointing. I had two librarians trying to track down the third copy. Apparently when they get more than two copies in, they put the rest in back. They couldn't find the third, so if whatever was hidden was there, I'd have to believe it was in one of the copies on the shelf. It's possible that it was thrown away by one of the staff - they made note to mention it to me that if they see something like random scraps of paper in a book, they throw it out immediately.

What's even worse is that my wife and kids were along for the adventure and were a little excited to find something. Now I have a grumpy wife and the youngest in tears.

ETA - as far as it being in the main downtown library, that branch is closed right now as it was utterly devastated during the floods this summer.

Crap. I'm sorry, dude, that's really disappointing. I wonder what happened to it.

How do we/should we let the game runners know we weren't able to find the last two clues? I hope they don't require all five for the next step.

I've sent the three we found to amanuensisSPLATmarevitreum.com because our goal is supposed to be to infiltrate the cult - if anyone else wants to send them to Brandon, I won't complain, I just thought it got us further in character if we continued trying to please the bad guys. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

3 out of 5 isn't a bad rate! Well done to everyone! Thanks Mr. Toasty for going to check. I'm really sorry that your kids were crying, we need to set up another drop out there just so you can take them to find it!
And antimasque thanks for sending on the information. I think that is a good plan.

I think the game runners will have ways to know if things have been found or not. Let's see what happens next.

Hm.... this video doesn't really have anything further to go on, it's just a guy talking to the camera. Seems more like flavor than substance. Here you go.

It seems that both Brandon and Sayther are after these documents... should we decide who we're going to send them to?

First, thanks to all of you for sharing all of this, it makes it a lot more fun. For what it's worth, I'll share this theory. So here it goes:

On the Stopasog website there is this old document that has been deciphered on this forum. It talks about buying asylums and dates from the 1850s. At that time, there were several asylums in NYC, including asylums for orphans, possibly a way to identify indigo children? We google searched around and it seems there are several possible locations in NYC that might be interesting to keep in mind.

The guy in the video talks about NYC being "home ground" which also makes me think Marevitreum took its origins in NYC. Maybe home ground could be the asylum that was acquired by Marevitreum in the 1850s?

That is a brilliant/extremely intimidating theory.

If Friday has us exploring the abandoned asylum on Roosevelt Island, I will be very happy.

Also, what was that name the guy said? Mary Wittry?

I thought it was a name too at first, but I'm pretty sure he's just pronouncing "mare vitreum" in a funny way.

Oh, yeah, you're right. I forgot Latin pronounces v's like w's. There's something else about the video, though. A noise in the background, like shuffling. It could be a train, but I'm not sure.

I haven't listened to it with headphones on yet, but from my computer I get the feeling that the music in the background shifts from the one speaker to the other... May be irrelevant, but I'm pretty sure it's something that has to be done intentionally.

ALSO -

In regards to the scans - The second drawing has two closed eyes drawn in pen, but if you look closely, there are three open eyes drawn in pencil. (Two of them are under the closed eyes.)

Incidentally enough, the third eye is the chakra associated with the color indigo. And the first illustration on the wiki page has a weird resemblance to the same drawing from the scans.

I've got an e-mail from a Leona Kimball - Since this is the only ARG I've given my e-mail to, I suspect this has something to do with it.

Title is "I love been myself and to enjoy what i do...always."

Body has a picture (I am NOT going to unblock the image - it's night and I'm dead scared of ARG pictures since Sameesss and some puzzle trails).

Site is: yotgi3854.jvl.com

The end of the letter: FSFPP8726ZL-TA2137AHUXW-LEIEB8321CXP

Hex or Cypher, I bet. By the way - E-Mail is from bjk1901SPLAThotmail.com I need to check the thread...

That's spam, buddy.

Also, I managed to somewhat isolate the music in that video, and it's some sort of samba beat or something. Surprisingly funky.

Damn! Why, what was the site?

Anyway, post the beat, please. Is there any hint of static in there?

Got a response from Amanuensis, after I sent him copies of the three documents we found:

Quote:
If you truly possess these three, bring them to Sayther on the night of the 31st.

It would have been better to find all five.

Wow. To be honest, that kind of pisses me off. We get no credit, no acknowledgement whatsoever for this thing that was legitimately pretty tricky to pull off. I kind of just want to say forget it and not do any more of this crap until the event on Friday, if that's how the people running the game are going to encourage us.

Even though I'll never actually do it, I very much want to respond:

Quote:
It would have been better to not have lost any of them.

Stupid ungrateful cultists.
