Need HELP with a code/puzzle!!!!
Need HELP with a code/puzzle!!!!

I thought some of you code and puzzle lovers could help me out.

I have a book that has a hidden message in playing card suits at the end of some chapters. The following shows the suits and each line represents a chapter, the spaces in between lines shows a chapter with no suits.

D = diamond
C = clubs
H = hearts
(The symbols are shown in the book not the actual letters)

DDHCDDCHDCCD
CDHCDDDHCCDC
DCDDHCHCDC
DCCCHDHC
DDDHCCCDHC
DCHCDCCHC
CDDDHDCDCHDDCD
CDCHDDDHDD
DCCHDDHDCDD
CHDDCCHCCC

DCDHDDCCHD
CCDCHDHCCDC

DCDCHCDDCHCDC
CCCCHDHCDD
CDHCHC
DCDDHDCCHDCCC
CDDHDDDHCDCC
CHDHDDDCC
DCDC
DDD
DCC
C

CD
DC

So I took D = DASH / C=DOT / HEART = SEPERATOR

Which turns it into morse code and translate into this...

MPX
AJF
YER
BTE
OVE
NLE
JCQ
ROM
DMY
EZS

KZT
FTF

CPR
HTW
AEE
YDB
WOL
ET8

C
O
D
E

A
N

At first I thought I was on the wrong track until I noticed 3 letters per chapter and CODE AN at the end. Can't be a coincedence right?

Also if you read down vertically instead of horizontally you can make out some words.

So my question is the CODE AN part. Is AN telling me how to decode this? Is AN some kind of code decryption tool? I find it interesting the A and N in morse code are opposites. So is this telling me to reverse the letters? Also P in morse code is A plus N put together so should I seperate some letters into 2??

Please give your opinions on how to decode this as it is drving me crazy!!!

Any thoughts are appreciated!

First, let me say that your code breaking skills seem to be very good. Don't give up just yet. Probably the most satisfaction that comes from solving a code is by completing it without any assistance.

Thoughts:
I don't believe that 'AN' means to separate the code into sets of 2. Reasoning: there are morse letters with 1 and 3 characters being used 'C', 'CDC'.

A quick examination of the letters given from Morse translation certainly lends itself to some other interpretation. Reasoning: The presence of a 'Q' without 'U'.

Is there a context of the book that can be used to show the purpose of these letters? Perhaps another decryption needs to be applied, such as a Caesar(rotation) or Vigenere.

In 2 other parts of the book the morse decryption worked. Here are the 2 messages.

"RURDE2RMBL"

"MYOPITEWEAKDEATHWSTOMELIKEUNWILNGSLEP"

are you ready to rumble

my opiate weak death was to me like unwilling sleep

So the author likes play on words. Having to sound out letters to get to the words.

The translation of Part 1 could be correct but what does code an mean?

Codeine? It's an opiate so it fits with your other deductions.

Although you can sound that out as "Are you ready to rumble", it also anagrams to "MURDER" with "BLR2" left over. I've read the book and can't think of anything BLR2 could be though. Just an observation.
