[FRINGE] New Game? Fringe (Trailhead + pre-game)
New JJ Abrams show has potential

** I moved this thread to the CF with Potentials forum and split it to reflect the apparent launch of the game/experience. -- jamesi

I don't think an AR game/experience has started yet, but everything seems on the verge.

JJ Abram's new show will be airing this fall on Fox. The show's trailers (available on youtube) all seem to indicate that there is serious potential for an ARG, with slugs like "Find the Pattern" and "Follow the Clues."

The official site (www.fox.com/fringe) has a menu that spells out the sixth to the tenth numbers in the Fibonacci sequence in Braille: 5,8,13,21,34.

[Braille numbers and letters have the same symbols, like Hebrew, so although the Braille also translates to the letter series E, H, AC, BA, CD, it's the numbers that matter.]

Each number is connected to an image, and takes you to a different place:

5: Leaf with triangle and math --> trailer for the show
8: 6-fingered hand with fifth finger glowing (a la X-files intro)--> youtube video of a guy in India with 6-fingered hands
13: Apple with babies for seeds --> "future on fox" blog
23: Tree frog with glowing "phi" on back --> another trailer
34: Flower with dragonfly wing petal --> Fringe's facebook page

The "future on fox" blog mentions the Holomove game (and the Unfiction Forums), but it has been established Holomove and Fringe are not connected.

Massive Dynamics is the corporate interest in Fringe and in Transformers (which was written by some of the same folks). Considering what Cloverfield and Lost (also Abrams/Bad Robot projects) did with Tagruato and the Hanso Foundation, it seems likely that Massive Dynamics will set up a page sometime soon.

Currently www.massivedynamics.com (created in 2006) and www.massive-dynamics.com (created in mid-May 2008) are both held without any content. Unfortunately, both strike me as OOG because of their date of creation. That said, I'd love to be wrong.

The show's pilot was just leaked, but no one seems to have noticed any blaring trailheads.

[EDITED to take degravedi and Euchre's comments about the sequence into consideration]

For archive purposes, I added all of the menu images. Is there anyone (preferably much more mathematically inclined than I) that can identify the equations?

I do know enough that the seashell looking spiral on #13 is called the golden spiral (or sometimes the Fibonacci spiral). And also, I would just like to note that the full beginning of the Fibonacci numbers is: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, etc. (though the 0 is often left out).

Edit: Possible future ingame site, kelvingenetics.com. It's the name of the classified US experimental program that Walter Bishop was working on (and there are no other references to it beyond having to do with Fringe). It was parked June 20th with GoDaddy. Also, I don't know if there's an actual connection (it's a common registration service) but both that and massive-dynamics.com were registered through Domains By Proxy. A site well known with high end ARGs since it keeps company info hidden.

Edit2: So I just got done watching the pilot and...wow. It looks like it's gonna be a pretty darn awesome show.

FingeTV fan site

Looks like some pretty serious discussion going on at this fan site

Interesting that there will be a comic book prequel to the Fringe series. I'm psyched about this. Very Happy

Also, check out http://imaginetheimpossibilities.com/

I didn't see any real investigating going on there, at least not of the current site.

I have a feeling this is going to turn into an ARG, I'll be watching the pilot in a little bit, but first I wanted to say this. I have no idea if this was mentioned on the other site as I only glanced at it, and well their forum only had like 11 posts. Besides, I'd rather be here on UF Smile

Anyways, the buttons are braille I believe, if my translation is correct they say this, in order from left to right:
E; H; AC; BA; CD;

(I used this site: http://www.braillecards.co.uk/media/images/braille_alphabet.jpg )

Now after writing this down here, I noticed AC = Apple Core?, H = Hand?

Anyways, looks interesting. Way better than TrueBlood anyway...

That's the Fibbonacci numbers: E=5, H=8, AC=13, BA=21, CD=34. Braille numbers and letters, like numbers and letters in Hebrew, share the same set of symbols.

I just edited the post above to mention that.

I knew that but it completely slipped my mind. Oh well.
/me trouts himself

I did enjoy the pilot though. Funniest quote: Dr. Walter Bishop: "Excellent. Let's make some LSD"

It was a bit predictable though, but then again it was the pilot so.

Vapor, just for completeness' sake, here's the post about imaginetheimpossibilities.com from the blog you mentioned:

fringetv.blogspot.com wrote:
Fringe: Imagine the Impossibilities

A new official website for Fringe is online. I found it as a sponsored link during Google a search for Fringe:

Are you a part of "The Pattern?"
Find Out Now!
www.ImageTheImpossibilities.com[sic]

As for the site's contents, it would appear to be the same as http://www.fox.com/fringe/, so nothing new there, yet. One positive to note, from my end at least, is the flash seems to load faster on the new site. We'll keep watch.

Also odd: the six-fingered man youtube video is hosted by portaltoindia. Portaltoindia has a number of videos up that all seem like sort of mundane/cheesy India travel videos, but then PortaltoIndia's favorites are all Fringe/fringe science stuff. Fibonacci sequence stuff, videos on Nicolai Telsa, energy vortexes. Not sure what to make of that.

Oh, and degravedi, I totally agree about the pilot. I mean, I could nitpick, but wtf. It looks like it's going to be fantastic.

I was wondering about that, www.portaltoindia.com works. The site is minimal right now, but of note is this: "We expect to be up and running by September 2008!" Coincidence? Really beginning not to look like it, I'm going to email the address on the site.

That's a nice find. The timing is off for it to be an IG profile. Maybe it's one of those things that just fell into place so nicely that the PMs used it.

Yow. This is getting weirder. That guy, the gangamanta at yahoo guy, aka Stuart, AKA Master Quark, he was involved in a very interesting conversation at FringeTV here, and has a blogger profile here.

on the fringetv site, he says: "(and pleas note that is a 6 fingered hand like mine in the bottom frame" Umm, I thought it was someone they were interviewing on the youtube video, not the person himself who had 6 fingers???

Hehe, I'm sort of the same way. I did see a good number of faults with it, but I can also let them go and say, "Hey, this is just something that's supposed to entertain me, and on that front it did a great job." But seriously, they did get that dirty old lab clean and tricked out pretty darn quick (not to mention that I doubt you can dig into dirt with your bare hands if there's that much snow on the ground)...But overall, I've always been interested in a number of the pseudosciences so this is way cool.

He sounds like an interesting fellow

Listen, there is a very simple explanation to all this 6 Fingered Man speculation, unfortunately it requires one to jump into a black hole and travel through a wormhole to an alternate region of the universe, past our observable universe. And then, one must poke his head out of the edge of that part of the universe. Currently the both The New England Journal of Medicine and the CDC have "Very Strongly Worded" advisories against such travel. Apparently, it turns your DNA into a substance resembling purple pond scum and at best you will be reassembled into a terribly mutated frog incapable of blabbering one utterance understandable by anyone one on earth, including Australian Aborigines and the French.

If Master Stuart is an IG character, the PMs have gone to a great deal of work to make him seem real. For instance, in addition to all those rather mundane India travel videos, he also has a Yahoo answers profile that's been active since June 2006.

I think that clinches it, he's either OOG, or someone they brought in for the game.
