<3 Hee! Bephalopod! Bufano! (Who apparently also did the Sun-Yat Sen statue we all know.) I dig it.

(I'm not really upset, either. Wink But Kelvin could stand to check his email!)

DETOUR

Oh, the guy from the beginning of the video? With the art test? That's Svengoolie, a schlock/horror movie host from Saturday mornings, who's travelled around Chicago's UHF channels since I was a kid. I wonder if he's still at it? The guy playing Svengoolie later started acting as a host of sorts for cartoons on channel 26 using his real name... what was it... Rich Koz, I think.

Totally off topic now: I've discovered there was an ORIGINAL Svengoolie, a guy named Jerry G. Bishop. Here he is in a clip with a song dishing up some advice for vampires, and then a floating hippie skull named Zelda takes a joke into racially-insensitive territory.

Anybody else think Kelvin and Drybones look drugged out in latest kidnapping video? Maybe they've had too many delta particles.

on a tangent: though i hope we find Eva sooner than later, if we're still at it about 6 months from now Adam "Ape Lad" Koford (writer of the laugh-out-loud cats and hobo-thusiast) would like to join us in our quest. I had recently been reading his comics and i figured he might be interested in divine nonchalance and the hobo glyphs that have been popping up all over SF (also I'm sure he'd get a kick out of finding Delsqui's cat).

I would be lying if I said that thought didn't cross my mind. Wink

Oh hey, Octavio has happy holiday wishes for the inducted masses.

Just back from a six month sabbatical, he says. The Action was seven and a half months ago, for reference.

It turns out a member of the Jejune Institute has fallen quite ill and seems to be hospitalized until further notice. Sad

Though he/she may be a Jejune Goon, we must find it in our hearts to help a fellow traveler out in a time of great need.

There is a link at the bottom of the "donate" page.

http://www.jejuneinstitute.org/donate.html

(Also, the JI will match every dollar donated)

I'm sure anything will help.
-----

On a happier note, it seems the JI has started selling T-shirts.

$25 gets one shipped to your door. Pretty neat stuff.

Captain, surely you jest?! Are you actually proposing the sending of monies to JI? Must I remind you that we are at war Captain?

The battle of nonchalance vs. nonchalance continues and we must not fall victim to the trappings of these trinkets of false nonchalance.

Let us not lose focus on the fact that Octavio has returned and appears to be stronger than ever!!!

Now is the time to be on your toes.

Sincerely,

Urban Phoenix

>_> i donno... those shirts look spiffy... plus, mayhapse they could be used to add credibility if one were to, let's say, infiltrate an enemy base?

Think of it as an ironic gesture, like drinking cheap beer or shopping at Target.

Bro' I'm so nonchalant I can even pull off the goonadroid's shirt with no negative side-effects.

I'm so non-conformist, I do not conform to the non-conformist.

Ahoy!

Hello, everyone!

Short Version Of My Post:

I'm new around here and would like to say hello!

Super Long, Snore-Inducing Version Of My Post (Bring Popcorn):

I'm not sure if this is the proper thread for the obligatory "introduce yourself" post, but after browsing the forum a bit and seeing how wonderful and awesome all of you are, I'm going to leave this here anyhow.

A few months back, a friend of mine planted the "just go to 580 California Street, 16th Floor and mention Jejune" seed without any further details, other than the warning to not "Google anything about it, fancypants."

Luckily for both of us, I forgot all about 580 California until two weeks ago, when I just happened to be in the area with a pal (read: searching for cheap Chinese food while my friend sold fireworks of questionable origin to various merchants, who apparently purchase aforementioned fireworks year-round), and we made our way over and up to the 16th floor.

The rest of you know what happens next, and needless to say, my mind has been completely blown ever since. I realize that I'm way behind all of you, but I just finished Act II today (whew!) and I plan on doing Act III later this week, weather permitting. I have completely fallen in love with the overall mythology and core concepts behind this "game," and find it to be incredibly satisfying, thought-provoking, and unique in execution.

But anyways.

Please forgive me if none of this makes any sense. It's 3:00AM and I'm in serious need of sleep. I spent all day chasing the clues for Act II, then came home and watched Point Break. That's what Commander 14 wanted us to do, right? I'm pretty sure that his broadcast included a Watch The Best Movie From The '90s Featuring Keanu Jumping Parachute-less Out Of A Plane requirement, right? Oh man, I feel like a zombie. No, really, I'm craving human flesh and I feel like shopping at Burberry.

I'm going to stop typing now.

hey there fellow nonchalant! glad to see you've been making progress. i have to say, getting to this point so soon is very good, esp. considering how long it takes most people to find the carriers of the sought after currency. i know it took me weeks to track down a source until i caved and chose one that didn't move.

if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask (and if you have any meta questions there's a place for that too).

so welcome!

Thanks, Everfalling!

Act II was much longer than I thought it would be, and in fact, I didn't realize that there were going to be multiple "acts" until I went to...wait, how about we move into Spoiler-Land for a few?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

After entering in the 3LS3WH3R3 code and receiving the text with instructions to listen to 107.9, I thought I was just going to listen to a "congratulations, you've been inducted" radio broadcast or something when I went to Upper Dolores Park. Imagine my surprise when I discover a full-blown radio program with even more clues, twists, and turns? So good!

The only reason I was able to finish Act II yesterday was because I coincidentally had my laptop AND my iPod with me. After buying the transcripts, I was able to enter the "&_hobocoinage" on the EPWA website to get the updated "coin carriers and mugshot" list. The top two carriers were the Bubbly Tea Store and the Tobacco Plaza guy, both of which were open and willing to part with a Hobo Coin for a dollar each. I did see that there were other, non-stationary carriers further down (such as the violin guy or Famous Wayne), but they weren't within walking distance of the Mission. Now I'm thinking I should have been more adventurous and sought out the Maker Of Wire Thingies!

Again, thanks for the warm welcome. I realize that I'm super far behind, but I'm doing my best to catch up and spread the word to other people to get involved as well. I'm still shocked and how deep, intricate, and amazing this experience is. Very Happy
