for anyone that cares, the background song of the newest podcast is by the album leaf =) i love them!

Ah, thank you! This was driving me crazy. I knew that I had that song somewhere in my library, but I couldn't remember where. And, you're right, it's Vermillion by The Album Leaf off the "One Day I'll Be On Time" record. So good.

Thanks again!

now if only someone could find the source of the music on the nonchalance.com elsewhere page and the nonchalance.org page. both are really nice ambiance tracks i'd love to play in the background while doing anything.

Agreed! I don't recognize either tracks, and my handy Shazam iPhone app couldn't identify them either. Perhaps they're just loops created by the Jejune Institute's Music Department.

Having finally finished Act II myself earlier today, I would like to greet you all and join this forum. Unfortunately the Curiosity Shoppe was closed again (as it was the last two times I have gone) so I have not gotten to read Eva's letter yet, but even though I'm not going to school in the bay area anymore I'll still be following avidly along. Maybe I'll even get to play through Act III before I go back.

Dav,

Act 3 is a lot more straightforward/less time-consuming than Act 2. I suggest having some sort of internet-enabled phone that can view youtube videos if at all possible. It's not critical, but will add to the experience.

yes
yes

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I still think my central question or observation hasn't really been explored here, which is that this game has way more levels than are obvious and that if you look at it as a larger body of work it goes back to 1999 and there is alot of stuff that isn't necessarily directly part of the active game structure, there is alot of stuff that probably adds to the whole experience, which i think has been the whole point of the game in the first place.
For instance, Sean Aaberg's zine "Goblin's Armpit" started in 1988 according to zinewiki. http://zinewiki.com/Goblin's_Armpit
On the post about Oakslander it says, "Oakslander featured the Oaklandish approach to local history, which is about the grit, grind and grease of Oakland, stuff that is usually just swept into the back alleys or hidden under cardboard. This technique of edutainment is undoubtedly rooted in the 1970s and the urban renewal program." This is very similar to what Jeff Hull has said about the purpose of the Games of Nonchalance. But, what i'm noticing is that this isn't the kind of thing the EPWA would do, this seems like what Octavio Coleman & the Jejune Institute would do. Yes?

Lemon Crystals is right. Jeff Hull is a genius and this is much more than a game.

no idea if this has anything to do with the games of nonchalance (it seems like it would require equipment that the laymen wouldn't necessarily have access to) but it's interesting nonetheless and i can't wait to see what comes of it

Two quick questions
...because work is boring, etc.

First one:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
How many people have received phone calls from a live human being giving instructions for an upcoming event?

and Two:
I'd like to coordinate a rally/march/action similar to the events that occured nearly a year ago at Union Square. A similar march, hopefully in the east bay, hopefully through the First Friday Art Murmur. Anyone interested?

@ #1: as far as i can tell no one has. all special events have been through email. only live calls anyone has received was once we were at the event and were given further instructions from the start point.

@ #2: sure, depending on what it is and when it is.

I think another little action would be a lot of fun! Maybe even on the anniversary?

Also, about the phone calls people have been receiving recently... I got a strange call last night from 0000123456 last night... could that be from them or someone else?

Also, congrats to the ones who were called. You're going to HAVE to tell us about it Very Happy

Phone.

Probably the latter. When I get weird calls I always punch the number directly into google and it usually pulls up hits on the various "who's calling me" websites (whocallsme.com, whocalled.us, 800notes.com, etc):
