inside
locker n stuff

Sorry I know my questions might be a bit backdated but...I am trying to go thru and see what I might have missed

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
inside the locker with Cerberus...did anyone else get the tiny letter from Eva's mom in there? I thought that was all given at the post office with the trade in of a hobo coin?

also nothing panned out with that building up on 1100 kearny block from postcard besides that 605 spraypaint? huh

also was walking thru chinatown today saw a wall with some hobo glyphs and then written on the wall said:

"Evil has no logic. Evil is John 19:11" then smaller not sure if connected Jim Jones wants to party with you...
not sure if this is relevant or not. but thought I would share.

which is:
Jesus answered him, "You have no authority over me at all, except what was given to you from above. That's why the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."

on the locker with Eva and the elsewhere clue...on the right side mirror on the edge where the b is by eva's ear there are numbers and letters, the leaves get in the way but it looks like 5482 IeeI (or 1's instead of i) 372...did anyone figure out if these meant anything?

also whoever was rocking the security desk today at 580 was on it...dude he was strict.

yeah i don't think that is meant to be there. someone must have just put it there

we figure that if anyone went there because of the post card that they'd be sent back into china down since 605 jackson st. is the star lunch cafe (which would be your next stop). though we could be wrong.

ooh. didn't see that. might have to go back there.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
also, i walked the china down part of the course a little while back and the missing persons/detective clue/star lunch fliers are gone. friend said they embedded the clue in the envelope you get? sucky. i hate when the clues combine because of vandalism. i wonder if they can't just spray adhesive the fliers on the wall like they did the shrine or if maybe the building owner got mad at them for it? oh, also, the payphone is back! it's just not as fancy as before. i was tempted to re-write the clue but i didn't have any chalk on me at the time.

and...
random idea

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Was also wondering if anyone ever tried to blow into the Eva locker, since the whole is open and see if foggying the mirrors up revealed anything...that one line 'your breath' keeps making me think that...*Shrugs*

Tri.

Triclyops, that is such a sweet idea. I would have never thought of that, as clearly I haven't as of yet. Wait ... no. Thought I had it there for a second. But the general M.O. so far has been that if a bread crumb has been missed, then a bigger bread crumb is lobbed directly at our collective face. That being said, I'd be checking that ideer out asap if I lived in SF. Also, I typed this earlier but I don't think it made it to the final post -- asking the guard to get past the door -- also a good idea (obviously), and that's something I also would have never thought of. I see officialdom and hide, usually. Behind plants.

Funny you say that. When I got to that portion of the initation, I had no idea what to do, so I tried just that. (The card says something how "your breath" will bring her back..." or something) Unfortunately, that experiment yielded no results.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I tried using the most basic of substitution ciphers on our little clue. if a=1 and z=26 than we get this:

9 15 14.8 8 6 7.15 10 10 11 11 9 11.9 0.8 8.8 7 7.11

from here I thought about frequency analysis so I made a short stem and leaf to get the frequency of all our numbers
1 0|0
1 0|6
3 0|777
5 0|88888
2 0|99
2 1|00
4 1|1111
1 1|4
2 1|55

Here is where I got stuck though, if my Key was too simple, and it could have been, then my conversions are wrong, and my frequencies could be off. Also, while you can use a symbol frequency chart to guess, our cipher is so small that it may not work exactly right, and I'm no pro at this stuff.

I could be entirely off base with this, but I figured I'd put my thoughts on here just to keep the juices flowing. I really have no experience with this other than what I just read from various Wikipedia articles, so if anyone actually knows anything about this, let me know how I'm doing with this line of reasoning. =P

it took us awhile...to figure it out thru the rotations...I would feel alot better if someone else confirmed those were indeed the right numbers and letters...that dang leaf kept getting in the way

i wonder if it's possible to get some of those missing persons posters of Eva to put around town. remember that Louie Chen said she might have been in the SF area as recently as September of 08. Perhaps someone has seen her but hasn't known about her missing status and might wish to contact Louie.

also, going to new york from the 20th-30th. perhaps her nonchalance has brought her to the city that never sleeps? never hurts to branch out. Wink

frequency analysis

So, I've been playing around with "ION.8867.OJJKKIK.90.88.HGG.K" and ended up with this. Initially, I figured it was just filler, but reading what you guys posted made me want to dig deeper, then I think I found something interesting, probably not coincidental. Let me know what you guys think:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

First, I removed the numbers and punctuation; I've never seen them work in a substitution, so perhaps they are their own 'clue' or something. I took what was left and broke it up into chunks of 4 characters to make it easier for me to look at. Anyway, removing them gave me this:

IONO JJKK IKHG GK

So, the frequency analysis. K represents 14% of the cyphertext, G, I, J, and O are tied with 7%.. so I started using English letter frequency to sub stuff in. Long story short, I'm to this:

I O N O J J K K I K H G G K
S _ _ _ _ _ T T S T R E E T

which, as I said, started to look much more interesting to me. Very Happy

I've briefly run through some street names, but haven't found a match, but, then again, I also don't have a comprehensive SF street name listing to go from. Also, the missing letters could be more than just one word.

I'm going to see if the O represents an F, and play with that, and also try out various vowels.

I haven't a clue about the numbers yet, but I'm hoping they'll make more sense in context with what may or may not be hidden above.

I hope this turns up something good!

Doubles.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Double doubles ... a problem.

S _ _ _ A A T T S T R E E T
S _ _ _ I I T T S T R E E T
S _ _ _ O O T T S T R E E T
S _ _ _ U U T T S T R E E T

Maybe the first word will turn out to be an anagram as well?

What if you cannot obtain the second coin?

My friend and I are having trouble find the hobos from whom to obtain another coin.

We managed to find one hobo on a Saturday at the Wharf and submitted that coin to obtain the letter.

But we need second coin.

Today, Thursday after (12.10PM -5.31PM) we searched for another hobo.

The only one we found on Kearny Street was coinless. (Can we receive a free pass because he was coiinless?)

What are the alternatives if one cannot obtain a second coin?

Location of broadcast
Where the Elsewhere Radio

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When listening to the hidden track on the CD, the location from where Commander 14 does his broadcasting is given.

Has anyone actually identified the precise house of the radio broadcast?

Should we have knocked or paid some visit to the house?

Just curious.

if worse comes to worst seek out Jun Yu in chinatown because he doesn't move. be ready to fork over about $5 to get a single coin though. it took me and my friends more than a week to finally get ANY coins.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=&sll=37.762086,-122.423237&sspn=0.046887,0.11158&ie=UTF8&ll=37.76605,-122.426587&spn=0,359.986053&z=17&layer=c&cbll=37.76596,-122.426582&panoid=nAzszfEWTghDc0u6FGk9Lw&cbp=12,270.92,,0,-0.05

considering she says the house is right next door to hers, and her house in the big one on the corner, i believe this house shown in the link is the one they're referring to.

commander 14's radio transmitter must be weird to only work in upper Dolores park but be located on the opposite side of the park.

also, and it's prolly nothing, but when Eva is skipping through the garage she sings a mixed up version of the ABC's. a cipher perhaps? here's what she sings:

ZYXWEQSTRXEOMMLJJIHGFEEZA

(though i'm pretty sure that's what she says there are two letters that are hard to make out: the second E might be a D, and it might be MN instead of MM. the echo makes it hard to tell.)
