Update: Hoooooboy. Alright, I'm finally in a position where I can put all my thoughts down, so here's a brain dump, from me to you:

My thought process:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The clue "not outer sunrise" (paraphrased) led me to the inner sunset district. So, I busted out trusty Google Maps, and took a look. Sure enough, there's Lincoln Way to the north, and Kirkham Ave to the south. Bound those two streets by 5th Avenue to the east, and 9th Ave to the west, and you've got yourself a searchable area.

However, that's a lot of ground to cover on foot. So, I let my fingers do the walking, and came across Elsewhere Books on the corner of 8th Ave and Judah.


So, location of the dead drop in hand (or, more accurately, on iPhone), I hopped on a bus after work and headed for Elsewhere Books. When I got there, I followed the instructions: Turn right at the door, look at the not-left side of the window, then look up. And... I discovered the item, wrapped in paper. (See image 1)

Once back on the bus, headed for BART, I decided to take a look at what it actually said on the inside of the paper (See image 3):

I appear to have run into a spot of bother with unfamiliar agents. Time is short, so I must be brief.

Urban Pheonix and Sherlock Holmes (co-operatives) possess the necessary codes to unlock the (small) path... resulting in the currently available [token].

Alternately, pursue information in a later post... which may supply two similar keys...

 		the way back machine - japanese letter
the fliers that were on the website...one was in japanese...
I coudnt recall if it was ever translated..but my japanese teacher is also a professional translator and he was willing to help out our cause

he said it was written poorly and was confusing..and asked to forgive him that some of it doesnt make much sense and to ask for clarification since some words were hard to translate...knowing that the JUJUNE was Jejune was a given and alot of the things I was able to fill in knowing what they were...:

 		yeah i'm stumped. i figure the 5 letters correspond to 5 numbers but how you get there i have no idea (and i don't know if we're maybe missing a cipher key from UP or SH that they received from the token). even if i did get the numbers i don't know what it means by "Arrange them in a circle, counting accordingly where necessary..."

maybe i'm thinking too hard and the solution is easier than i'm making it out to be but the instructions are kinda confusing to me.
